    ***my theory from the first time we saw Ruby***
    Jenny (Clone) is Ruby’s mother…making Ruby The Doctor’s Granddaughter.
    So this is season 1 = The Doctor is traveling with his granddaughter again.
    Plus she looks just like she could be the daughter of Georgia Tennant.
    It’s quite the coincidence, isn’t it?

    • @locutusuk68

      I've been saying the same thing, The Doctor clearly knows who is leaving the baby because he has a look of surprise the first time he's there, that would make him check in on Ruby from time to time leading to she 1st episode starting as his normal check in.

      I don’t see the problem. If they can bring back former companions, UNIT, and legacy bad guys, no reason they couldn’t bring back the Doctor’s granddaughter. It’ll just take a couple lines of dialogue to explain that they used to travel together a long, long time ago and she eventually got left behind. New audiences will already know from the specials that the Doctor’s appearance and personality change occasionally, and that he’s a lot older than he looks. I’m not saying it’s going to happen, but there should be no difficulty explaining it to new viewers if it does.

    • @TheLukecottle
      @TheLukecottle 24 дня назад +2

      I highly disagree. When I began watching in 2005 I wasn’t confused when the doctor said he was th least of the time lords, or when the Daley popped up in Daley and the doctor knew who they were. I also wasn’t confused in season 2 when the cyber men popped up or when Sarah Jane did.. Or in season 3 when the master turned up, or in season 4 when Davao’s turned up. Or the countless other times the series have brought back old characters. RTD is good at including older characters in a way that is accessible for newer viewer while also being good enough for the older fans to be like “aha”. Plus the new global audience need to be aware of the OG series the same way the revival fans needed to be. Plus it gives them like it did for me, the excitement of finding out there a back-catalogue of years of amazing who content. ❤

  • @KyleWitten
    @KyleWitten 25 дней назад +9

    I think the biggest argument for Susan is that she doesn't have a complicated backstory. A new viewer can get up to speed in just a few minutes. Doctor's granddaughter - left the TARDIS because she met a boy. Not much else a new viewer needs to know about her to jump into a New Who Susan story.
    RTD did something similar in 2005 with the Autons. They weren't vilians with a big backstory. They were the "I kinda remember them" baddies. In 2005, I was among the first Americans to watch Rose (we won't discuss how I had a copy within 90 minutes of it's UK premier). No one was confused by not knowing who the Autons were before that day - there just wasn't that much backstory to tell.

    • @AnonUnlimited
      @AnonUnlimited 24 дня назад

      Right it's a pretty intuitive backstory. You can get the gist of it without explaining too much. That's why I'm not attached to the idea that they can't bring her back bc it might confuse the audience. I don't think anyone will be confused by the main character introducing a family member. That's super normal tbh. Certainly easier to get on board with than 'thousands year old time traveling alien' , so I'm not worried about it. I do want her to come back. Esp now when CAF is still here to pass on the baton. I wouldn't want to miss an opportunity while we have it to honor that character. Esp when the story this season will be mainly about the leads not knowing where they come from/not knowing their birth families. It would have two sides of the adoption story too bc the doctors would probably be resolved by making his own family and Ruby's would be resolved by finding out about her birth family.

    • @KyleWitten
      @KyleWitten 24 дня назад

      @@AnonUnlimited And look at the other Classic Who baddies that RTD brought back the first time - The Macra? A name drop of the Sense Sphere? You didn't need any prior knowledge to follow the stories. They were so obscure that even Classic Who fans could be forgiven for forgetting them. I think that characters with deep backstories are unlikely to appear any time soon. With new international distribution thru Disney+', there are hopefully new viewers on the horizon that won't know about any except the most well known characters that have long since entered the cultural zeitgeist. That means (probably) no Rani or other characters with significant backstories.

  • @KyleWitten
    @KyleWitten 22 дня назад +4

    Rewatched Church on Ruby Road last night paying special attention to Mrs Flood.
    She was very upset by the TARDIS when she first saw it. But then it demateralized in front of her. And then she was all smiles every time she saw it after.
    Argument for Susan. She only knew the TARDIS's one shape after the Camelion Circuit malfunctioned in 1966. She may not know that it can still change shape within that pre-set police box mode.
    So - what if it is Susan and she didn't recognize the TARDIS because it wasn't the same shape and size it was the last time she saw it.
    She was upset by the reminder of her past. But once she knew it was a TARDIS, she became almost giddy about it.

    The dystopian London we see in the trailers from the Devil's Chord reminds me a lot of the state London's in in the Dalek Invasion of Earth, the story Susan first exited the show in going to live in a Dystopian London.
    There's also that shot from the same episode with the Doctor and Ruby in their Beatles attire with the Doctor illuminating the place up with his sonic screwdriver under a wooden staircase. I've seen people theorise it's Totter's Lane.
    It seems like quite a different setting from Abbey Road studio and if the Doctor's meeting the Beatles in 1963 then who was also just round the corner at Coal Hill School in that country in that year?

    I am tempted towards the sentient Tardis explanation more, but anything happens in this show. American sci-fi franchises pick over every little piece of imagined history and continuity. I dont think susan triad or mrs flood are Susan Foreman. I think S Triad is the meddling monk because the un-named woman in the piano scene in church on ruby road is clearly susan twist and she asks ruby to play gaudete, which is a 16th centry song of worship. I also think mrs flood is the meddling monk as we have seen two monks at the same time before the in the two monks, one mistress audio book. I think the hand that picked up the tooth at end of the giggle was S Triad and we are going to get a kinda two monks, one mistress storyline, but jinx will be playing the masters part. My theory: Ruby is the Doctor's greatest fairy tale. Blond companion who's name starts with the letter R, with both Ruby and Rose having the motive to go back in time and meet their parents at a church setting. Except this time, she's made more relatable for the doctor. An orphan and possibly even time lord + blood relative to the doctor if she is the daughter of his grand daughter with the whole DNA scan scene.
    Just before the Doctor using superstition at the end of the univserse they gave us an example of history being changed with gravity into mavity, along with Ruby's disappearance against the goblins, and later london's history without music. In the second special the 14th doctor says gravity and corrects himself to mavity once Donna questions what he said. When Ruby steps on the butterfly he is confused as to what happened and even still looks confused as they are walking into the Tardis until he chucks it to the new controls and "silly me for forgetting". I think the laws of the universe changed at the salt event and they've left us multiple examples how an event at one point can change the laws and memory of everyone in the universe.
    In space babies we see physical snow appear when the doctor is deep in thought about the day Ruby was left at the church. Just like the snow, the Doctor has gained the ability to almost will things into existence subconsciously and has somehow created Ruby Sunday. Multiple times they've had little moments where they slow everything down and talk about the "Ruby Sunday from the church on ruby road" like the prologue of a fairy tale. Ruby is the Doctor's greatest fairy tale.
    I think we will lose Ruby at the end of the season (seeing as she is leaving) when the doctor realizes it's because of these universal law changes that the beings that are like the toy maker are able to run rampant. But he must do so knowing he will have to erase the existence of his perfect fairy tale like companion.

    They only way we could have River Song played by someone other than Alex Kingston (barring hand-wavey timey-wimey stuff) would be for it to be in her personal timeline before Let’s Kill Hitler. Personally, I feel that character has had a full arc, she also doesn’t have any regenerations left, and there would need to be a really good reason to bring her back.

    What if Ruby is an Ysgaroth? There's a legend in doctor who lore that the great vampires (Ysgaroth) had a child that was taken from them. The theory has usually been that it's the doctor seeing as they're the timeless child but what if it's Ruby?

    Based on absolutely nothing, I think Susan Twist is actually "the one who waits" and that she represents television, in the same way the Toymaker represents games and Maestro represents music. All three representing forms of entertainment. That would form a Triad.

    Ruby is her own mother, I'm calling it. When she was dying in, 'boom', the snow stopped. This has happened before on 'twice upon on a time', because of the doctor refusing to regenerate, causing the paradox. In this case for Ruby is that if she dies there, she will never be born, causing a paradox in that moment. She may be the embodiment of life.
    Also, i think "the one who waits", is death itself. Hence, why the maestro was so confused about why "the oldest one" was there at the night of Ruby's birth 🤔

    In theory if Susan is the Dr's granddaughter that implies she is a Time Lord/Lady herself so coming back with a different face or even having a regeneration scene, would not be impossible.

    Maybe Susan escaped the gallifreyan genocide with her daughter, and left her in a time and place (2004, right before the end of the Time War, in a way) where the Doctor could protect her. But Susan was angry because the Doctor abandoned her, and now she has to abandon her daughter too, and also the doctor couldn't stop the Time War or even warn her about the genocide. Susan had to constantly fly across time and space to escape the "cellular genocide" and use a "pocket watch" system to spare her daughter this fate. Where is the pocket watch? Maybe not in a real object, but inside Ruby's theme song!!
    (it's completely crazy but I had fun imagining that theory)

    Ruby Sunday, could be the daughter or granddaughter of The Ponds?
    If the transporter, does a copy of the Doctor, every time; when he was trapped in dark tower. ( That part of the doctors story was set in his mind and that was a mind scape.
    Which means the Doctor, is a creature of energy, which brings up the master!?
    Which brings us back to Ruby, who is her neighbour?
    And to top it all, from our point of view, it's a story.
    As for Susan , his "daughter" she probably called him grandfather, as a name. Like Ace and others called him Professor?
    Any way, as The Maestro said. Timey wimmy.
    Sorry "Spoilers" as River Song would say.
    I figure Susan is River Songs daughter, but that gets confusing.

    (Long ramble incoming) One problem with this theory; the ninth doctor mentions early on that he knows all the timelords are gone. He would've sensed if one was still around since they are telepathic, especially his granddaughter. Regardless of when and where they are. But it is completely silent in his head. The only way, and this would need some explaining on RTD's part if your theory proves to be true, he wouldn't be able to sense Susan being on earth and yet Susan remembering enough to be able to time travel and using the Tardis key as a beacon, is if she used a modified version of the Chameleon Arc. Her biology would have changed (no telepathic abilities) but she would have retained her memories. Or, she forget but is unconsciously drawn to the Doctor now in a way she wasn't before. Maybe she recently stumbled upon her fobwatch containing her memories? Or the Doctor's fobwatch which he threw in the depths of the Tardis as the 13th Doctor, and the Tardis somehow expelled in where Susan could find it? Timelord fobwatches do after all whisper to either the original owner or whoever finds it. Anyway, with him now having mentioned that he doesn't know what became of Susan is however a good point. As far he knows, she was stuck on earth and the Time War didn't happen on/effected planet Earth. And yet he wasn't able to sense her after it had ended. But with the supernatural and magic now having retroactively been introduced to the world since 1925, maybe a timelady stuck on earth in the 22nd century would've picked up on that slight change (in her 1963 version magic wasn't a thing. But that past has been slightly altered due to the 14th doctor's actions in wild blue yonder). Magic, 22nd century technology and a timelady's knowledge might have kept her off the Timelords telepathic radar, so to speak. Anyhoodle, things that I thought of that I think would be required or need to be considered for your theory to be true. Cool theory however!

      @marianneootjers4786 День назад

      Long ramble add-on: I did just realize that the timelords weren't so much as gone but trapped in a statis-cube-esque bubble. I do have doubts though that that was always the case. I think, the first time we see 9, they were really dead and gone. And that it wasn't until 11th that that was changed. They were still gone, just not dead. And when the war doctor returned to his Tardis and timestream, it realigned itself with the (up till then) 11th memories prior to saving Gallifrey to re-establish his own personal timeline. So two time-lines-wibbley-wobbley stuff imo. So another possibility; Susan managed to be return to Gallifrey, was actually dead, then 11th, 10th and the War Doctor sort-of saved Gallifrey, she would've been trapped and so still gone. She escaped during 12th's run, or at least before the Master destroyed Gallifrey. Since we don't know who her parents are, she might be part Timelord (or whatever the Doctor actually is) and part something else. Maybe allowing her to have unique abilities and be able to fly under the rader. Who knows.

    Oooh, thought! What if the Doctor’s obsession with Earth and keeping it safe was because initially he was trying to keep it safe FOR Susan? Especially if things can happen in the past that would negatively affect her time period of the 2160s. Along the way he develops an affection for humanity, but his original compelling interest was slightly more selfish.

    Lucy Saxon: On Christmas Eve night in or around the 2000s, Lucy was released from her cell by her prison's new Governor, and brought to the basement, where a cult of the Master's loyal servants was implementing a ritual to restore him to life. What if Ruby is actually the daughter of Lucy, Who some how had the masters baby, and One of the cult members managed to drop off the baby at the church, this would explain the black robes.... Or I could just be over thinking things lol.

    River Song gave all of her regeneration energy to the 11th Doctor didn't she? So her being recast wouldn't make sense unless that was retconned, can't remember. Too many retcons. 😂 Where Susan is a Time-Lord so she could regenerate from Carole Ann Ford to Susan Twist if this does happen. I do want to see her regeneration, though, not just recasting as we had between 8 and 9.
