  • Owner wants to take care of a pesky Airbag warning light on the dash before selling his Lexus.
    The diagnosis is pretty straight forward, but unfortunately some parts are required to fix this issue.

    I love that you did everything possible to fix it as a “no parts required”, first! You always go those extra steps for your customers. Great job, sir.

    Great stuff Ivan. For fixing bent connector pins, I've found it best to use a small bore metal tube - like a propelling pencil (without the lead).

    Nice fix. When I saw the description and it said parts required with the frown face. I immediately thought of Paul and thought you might have had a mishap. Glad you didn’t deploy any and got launched out of the car.

    and the chances the new owner is alerted this car has water damage = zero LOL. so when they get an odd issue the dealership will just randomly replace things $800 a pop. loving it. this roof drains cause so much damage you would think they would make an effort to have rubber deflectors or something so the water doesnt get to the connectors in the first place....

    Hey Ivan I just finished watching Paul Danners air bag video on his premium channel as I was watching you I was waiting for the explosion. The video is cool to watch luckily nobody was hurt. Those yellow connectors are intimidating. Did you have any concerns disconnecting that connector with power on? Just wondering. Ivan thanks for sharing you and wife stay safe and well Artie 😊

    My question is, what's the point of these airbag on-off lights? It's not like there of any value to the typical user, it's not like when we see the light we go "Oh I gotta do this thing instead!" or some junk along those lines. Seems like useless information for the typical driver

      I disagree,he is not touching the air bag portion as such .HIS worked involved the connection,which in this case ,the video shows that the last person BEFORE HIM made an ERROR and therefore they were responsible for THE "systems failure to operate AS DESIGNED.If anything he helped TOYOTA COMPANY,by being an detail oriented mechanic and CORRECTLY RESOLVED the issue at hand,thereby improving a passengers chances of surviving an accident with ONLY THE INJURY'S PROVIDED BY THE AIRBAG ITSELF>. So IVAN if you need a lawyer look me up.haha just kidding,good job.

    • @jonclark1288
      @jonclark1288 3 года назад

      First of all, this particular year/make/model is NOT affected by the Takata airbag recall.
      Second of all, even if it was, the recall is for the airbag itself. Replacing the computer module has no effect whatsoever on the recall. If you have a vehicle that has a recalled airbag, the manufacturer will replace it with the revised airbag for free. That's the ONLY thing the recall does. If you have any other problem with the airbag system, you pay for the repair out of pocket. It's no different than fixing the airbag system on a car that wasn't recalled (and, like I said, this car IS a car that wasn't recalled).

    • @terryharvey4811

      Ivan did what I would attempt to do if presented with this problem. HE FIXED THE CAR. We work near air bags on about 20 % of our jobs. Heater cores, evaps, blend doors etc. CAUTION, NOT FEAR should be the norm. We seldom get to pick our jobs Just fix what comes in the door.
