    What I like about Dreamowrks is how it's not held back by what people expect of it. Sure, it has its franchises but unlike Disney with princess movies or Pixar with ''what if blank had feelings,'' Dreamworks doesn't really have a formula. Dreamworks has comedies, parodies, fairy tales, sci-fi, martial arts movies, pirate movies, religious movies, a jukebox musical, musicals with original songs, and many more. Because of this Dreamworks gets a lot of flack because people expect the next HTTYD or Prince of Egypt to feel disappointed with things like Trolls. And when people expect something Like Boss Baby but get Puss in Boots the Last Wish they're really impressed and shocked.

      For some reasons, this is why I respect DW more, that's pretty refreshing for a studio that explores many genres as possibles instead of sticking into one formula despite that not every movie is a big winner.

    Even Sony is dethroning Disney with "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse." They've gotten so much better with their most recent movies, but "Spider-Verse" has some of the greatest animation and character arcs we've ever seen. It's something that recent Disney could never do because all they want is "money."

    • @MikoLanthierFrechette
      @MikoLanthierFrechette Год назад +4

      @@justinperez2057 Also before they got bought out by NBCUniversal, DW has worked with other studios/peoples like they make a contract with Aardman back in 1997, so they could distribute their animated features before they broke up in 2007. DW pictures has helped to make small soldiers, the ring, transformers, '05 war of the worlds, save private Ryan, the cat in the hat, need for speed, 1917 and etc and they even work with Satoshi Kun (yep satoshi himself) to help to create and distributes anime like millenium actress and ghost in the shell 2 : innocence with their defunct division go fish pictures. Dreamworks and Illumination are both owned by Universal and Nintendo is a partner to Universal, I hope Nintendo would eventually collab with DW to make a zelda or a metroid or a star fox movie, so that's could make two studios that make their own adaptation of different nintendo ips, for example Illumination can handle more kiddie stuff like Mario, Kirby and pokémon and DW can handle cooler stuff like Zelda, metroid, star fox and megaman.

  • @MikoLanthierFrechette
    @MikoLanthierFrechette Год назад +8

    Imagine DW making a movie/short series on hulk with the spider-verse-esque animation and they can do that due to the parent company Universal who are the current owners & distributers of the hulk IP. Also I couldn't imagine nintendo deciding to colab with DW instead of illumination to make a megaman or a dark-oriented zelda movie based on majora's mask game because I feel Dreamworks is the right studio to make animated films that are far edgier. I would think boss baby 3 might be quietly shelved due to Alec Baldwin was involved in a shooting. If I talking the animated movies from the glendale studio that I am excited about (which I've mentioned in a comment), i'm nervous they get secretly scrapped due to news that date back years ago and the lack of recent update, but it's actually not the case, it's just projects like this take a lot a lot of time and ressources to get out of development stage and then go to the pre-production and to production stage and then finally get a official trailer and see the light of the day. Also there's an untitled film that would come out one month before KFP4 (that unknown project might be larrikins coming back??? Idk). DW, Sony and illumination/nintendo (yup, illumination) shows us that western animation deserved better after the emoji movie, Boss baby, trolls movies, Hotel transylvania 3 & 4, disney remakes/sequels, addams family, ugly dolls and the list goes on much more, their movies like the last wish, mitchells vs the machines, bad guys, ruby gillman (maybe?), spider-verse movies, mario movie and their upcoming projects that gives a brand new era and hopes for animation right now.

      Actually there's no reasons in crying if they make another trolls or even boss baby movie eventually, they would launch something that you would be captivated to watch again. I think the thing you forgot about DW is their inconsistency in terms of quality, we can get masterpieces like shrek 2 and HTTYD2 or garbage like sharktales and Home. Also, Dreamworks wants to make movies that appeal to a wide range of demographics (including toddlers and younger childrens) and that's a strategy that allowed them to stay afloat for a long time and keep creating actual good movies, yeah ik young childrens should have deserved better movies than that, but they are obviously not made for you and that's a thing that shouldn't devalues them in a time where people begins to feel indifferent towards the works of disney/pixar and that's pretty refreshing for some reasons, they aren't better than the mouse and the lamp and they don't always crank out hits when they target a specific demographic, but that's allowed them to experiment while putting moslty OK films. Also, there's also Ruby gillman would come in my birthday, it doesn't look good or bad either, but at least is better than BB and I hope I would turn out to be decent. I would recommend to watch the video of cartoonsh on DW to had better context why this company made the last wish and then they launch trolls band together next year and there's the link of the video on this comment : ruclips.net/video/iwL6aPI3EBw/видео.html

    It seems we are living in a weird parallel universe where people feel indifferent towards the recent works of marvel, star wars and DC, but for animation in the other hand, it's a completely different story, animation on the western front has might be entered a renaissance era thanks to dreamworks, guillermo del toro, sony and even illumination/nintendo and we should thanks them to makes us excited for their future projects and making people respecting more on animation than ever. IMO, I feel people are beginning to torelating less on mediocrity like they used back in the day, that's why velma and she-hulk, morbius, dceu, marvel phase 4 and 5 are being destroyed and hated both by audiences and even the critics.

    "The Mario Movie was the best video game movie I've ever seen."
    Yes, I agree, behind Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2, that is.
    Both were better movies, especially the second one. The Mario movie's a lot of fun, and it's very enjoyable. Jack Black does one hell of a job portraying Bowser, and I could see he had a lot of fun playing the big guy. The star kid prisoner who felt death was better than imprisonment in Bowser's castle was hysterical, too. But, it's also rather predictable and safe. Also, there are some moments where the movie could drag, such as when Mario and DK are stuck in that giant eel's mouth. There was an over-reliance on Mario and Nintendo references, too. Nothing wrong with references. In fact, I really enjoyed Luigi's Gamecube startup phone ringtone, as well as Spike from Wrecking Crew '88 showing up in this movie. But, sometimes, it felt like the references to Mario titles were used as a substitute for story-telling and character development that could've made this movie stand out from other Mario content. If you were to strip away the references to other Mario games, you'd get a pretty bare-bones plot with some fun voice acting work from guys like Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Jack Black. Some more original ideas that were unique to this Mario movie would've been wonderful.
    The story-telling in the Sonic movies is definitely superior. There's less of a reliance on fan service to keep the story moving. Instead, they make an effort to tell a story that was inspired by other Sonic content such as the Fleetwood comics, Sonic X, the Sonic Adventure duo, or the Genesis titles. I also really enjoyed Sonic's change from "scared, lonely teenager" to "confident, strong hero" in part 1. That wasn't a character development that you ever saw in Sonic, who's often portrayed as the typical cocky, confident, young hero archetype in the games. I loved that. Sonic's conflict with Knuckles in part 2 had some high stakes due to Dr. Robotnik's pursuit of the Chaos Emeralds. And, I really love Jim Carrey's casting as Dr. Robotnik was unexpected, but that guy really killed it as the evil Doctor.
    None of these movies are masterpieces, but Sonic 1 and 2 are noticeably better than Mario, I'd say. I'm curious to see how they'll handle Shadow the Hedgehog in part 3, in fact.

    I am disappointed with Disney's new output but these videos are getting ridiculous.
    Puss in Boots is a great movie and I'm glad it got more people to appreciate DreamWorks, but why is everyone acting like DreamWorks is now a top teir company as if it didn't release boss baby 2 the year before 💀
    And don't even get me started on how everyone is acting like illumination is now a top teir animation studio even tho the only reason Mario was good is because of Nintendo. This is not an "Illumination" trend.
    People need to stop pretending to be passionate about these things just to stay trendy. Instead of making these videos just make comparison videos about movies with actual similar themes.
