Okay can I just say...I fuck around in this comment section a lot asking you that play flam accents with a diddle on the third partial...but God damn you are such a good snare player this is getting out of hand. I've officially busted out my pad and sticks to get back into this. Bless.
Don’t feel discouraged. Most other musicians prefer to have a drummer who can’t do these things. They just want a drummer who can keep time and add a little bit of creativity. This is especially true for rock. Even jazz musicians don’t want drummers to run circles around everyone else.
@@boboloko - not the issue. having technical proficiency at this level is about pushing the art form. about maximizing one's gifting. and the highest level technical proficiency also enables highest level musicality, including listening, IQ, and musical appropriateness. dumbing down anything is a bad idea. encouraging others who are discouraged by good playing is the answer. we need to push ourselves, not make excuses. this is true for everything in existence.
There is so much goodness here. Love the modulating paradiddles at 0:12 and love the sound quality on those crossover sextuplet paradiddles at 0:19. Also you're killing it with these consistent uploads 🔥🔥🥁
Idk if this is a serious question or not but it’s usually just text above and some kind of special notation. There aren’t a ton of viable playable stick tricks so when we see a stroke and “BS” over it we know that’s just a back sticking on the hand the sticking is assigned. (Also in snare drumming one of the biggest things higher level writing always does is write in stickings (like what hand is playing when) and it makes reading it way easier since we can quickly identify rudiments.)
@@DisDatK9 Yeah I was also wondering if this was a serious comment. Like for real, there are 100 letters present in the first 4 bars of playing… That is an insane amount of text. You could write a paragraph with what it takes to show you 4 bars of tricks and which stick to use.
I just had to slow this down to 25% and you know what it sounds like? A heated conversation between two wild boars, clacking their tusks and grunting at each other. Stupendous! I don't know where the idea came from that drummers are not musical. This is not only musical but on a higher level like a String Quartet (An Intellectual Conversation between 4 knowledgeable and Interesting people). Touche! Wish I could see this in Super Slow Mo.

I have no knowledge of perc specific terminology, and am incredibly tickled by the modulating paradiddles 😂

I really question how people READ stick tricks lol. It’s truly amazing

Chiming in 10 months later to say that the music was likely transposed after the fact. I don't think he was sightreading this.
