We think he could have too but they won't even give us antibiotics and they haven't even checked him, as the second vet just read the first vets notes and mentioned the biopsy. He doesn't need one in our opinion. May have to book him in and send the vet the photos!

Re my previous comment. Just checked out Canine Discoid Lupus Erythematosis. Seems like Nookys symptom is typical. Both oral and topical steroid, antibiotics, supplements and keep out of 🌞 light. Not serious as the systemic (effects the organs) lupus is. Perhaps ask for a trial period of treatment. If doesn't settle then may still need biopsy in case of other diagnosis.
Thanks very much Andrea. The cream we have is a steroid one so will see how he goes with that. We have also started him on the Omega 3, 6 and 9 capsules that we add to his food as we saw this was one of the treatments if it was lupus. He's been on them about 3 weeks now. We are hoping to change to the Kidderminster branch at the end of the month so he will be seen with fresh eyes then and we'll get another opinion then too. Will you keep you updated though.

It's an amazing Isle Stephen, honestly. But yes, every shop was a Co-op lol. There were two in Brodick about 4 minutes walk from each other. That huge one was great though. Hope Wales is going OK. Yep, it could be something like that but they'd rather try and do a biopsy on something that isn't there and charge us a grand, than sedate him for 20 minutes and have a proper look for probably 100 quid. We want to change to the one in Kidderminster but they're not taking on til the end of the month.

Definitely worth going and once you're there you hardly use any fuel cos it's not that big lol. Went to get his flea and tick treatment from there today and they asked if we were booking him in for the surgery. I politely said no. I said I would email them some photos so they can see properly. He hates it there, they have to muzzle him lol. And he tries to escape everytime someone goes in or out.

Now done some research, sounds like a very manageable size for a slow paced jaunt. Those drinks sounded amazing, love gin but rarely drink alcohol. I'd be under the table before the end of 2nd one, BUT I'd be willing to have a go 😁. Wonder if Nooky would be ok if a vet came outside to get a closer look? Or would he smell him a mile off 😄? Does look a bit white/dry for a seed. Maybe just the cream on it. My guess would have been £5/600 too. Didn't know dogs could have Lupus. Have you Googled! I did same to diagnose one of my cats after £££ and multiple visits. Was correct. Locum vet gave miniscule amount of prescription, then later own vet massively increased. More visits and ££s. Hope all sorted soon.

You are doing Arran justice already 😍 That steam ship you filmed that has a very distinctive sound is actually The Waverly. It is the last ocean going paddle steamer in the world and is moored in Glasgow over the summer where it offers various itineries for the season to Tighnabruaich, the Firth of Clyde islands including Arran and Isles of Bute and Cumbrae and Firth of Clyde seaside towns. It was famous for transporting the people of Glasgow "doon the watter"....."down the Clyde" for their summer holidays in bygone days. Its still a real treat to choose an itinery, board it and spend a relaxing day cruising and enjoying the scenery from the water around this very scenic part of Scotland. If the dolphins are in the Firth they often cruise the bow of it thrilling all on board. I think The Waverly winters down in the south of England but is still a well loved and used vessel.

When I worked for the NHS my union used to charter it for an evening each year and it would go from the centre of Glasgow to the Tail o' the Bank which was just past Greenock and back. More of a kind of booze cruise with bands on board for entertainment. Don't think they do those kind of charters anymore they stick to holidaymakers. It has a very distinctive sound as the paddles slap off the water, very peaceful and passengers onboard can actually watch the engine pistons working as they make the paddles go round in the centre of the ship. A great trip for mechanical/marine enthusiasts. 😁

No, no insurance as after his first leg surgery there was a 50% chance his other leg would go, so the insurance wouldn't cover the cost of that surgery if it was needed so we didn't bother, and unfortunately it did go and he had to have surgery again. He's been to the vets twice with his nose now and all they go on about is the biopsy which is a punch biopsy of his nose to see if it is a certain form of lupus. In our opinion he needs to be sedated and they need to check his nose properly. We asked about antibiotics but she wasn't interested. Paying for the biopsy isn't a problem if he really needed it, but they haven't examined him, they've looked from a couple of feet away and without a light up there, and without a light it looks normal. His leg surgeries were three grand each, so he's definitely worth it lol. We love him to bits, we just need a vet to check him properly. It's a real pain.
Bless him, he sure is a star, love seeing him on your videos, perhaps get a second opinion from another vets, hope to catch up with on the road sometime x

It would have to be cider though :-) Those quiet beaches looked really lovely, and as you would expect, Mr B pulled out all the stops once more with some superb drone video. Just glad he wasn't under the influence at the time or we would have seen some dramatic crash landing footage lol.
They were friendly, yes. That park up is right as you get off the ferry. We reversed and hung the back over but higher up there are some sideways ones. Free and no restrictions and shops right there. We did two nights and had no horn bibbers or anything. Win win we thinks.

He's doing OK. Yep, disgraceful, and it's a skin biopsy they want to do, but the skin looks OK to us. It did clear up but has come back so back on the hay-fever tabs and the steroid cream, but.only doing it once a day, not twice, as it can thin the skin.

I reckon Nookie has a seed lodged in the nose or similar. Dogs constantly smell everything. Is it just one nostril hole affected?

He's been to the vets twice with his nose now and all they go on about is the biopsy which is a punch biopsy of his nose to see if it is a certain form of lupus. In our opinion he needs to be sedated and they need to check his nose properly. We asked about antibiotics but she wasn't interested. Paying for the biopsy isn't a problem if he really needed it, but they haven't examined him, they've looked from a couple of feet away and without a light up there, and without a light it looks normal. His leg surgeries were three grand each, so he's definitely worth it lol. We love him to bits, we just need a vet to check him properly. It's a real pain.

It would have to be cider though :-) Those quiet beaches looked really lovely, and as you would expect, Mr B pulled out all the stops once more with some superb drone video. Just glad he wasn't under the influence at the time or we would have seen some dramatic crash landing footage lol.
Lol, no, he flew the drone in the morning I think. Yep, a really lovely place and so relaxing at that bar. And the drinks were nice too which helps.😁

They were friendly, yes. That park up is right as you get off the ferry. We reversed and hung the back over but higher up there are some sideways ones. Free and no restrictions and shops right there. We did two nights and had no horn bibbers or anything. Win win we thinks.

OMG that is crazy expensive and I can't understand why it costs that much, hope he gets better soon and doesn't need to go to the vets.
He's doing OK. Yep, disgraceful, and it's a skin biopsy they want to do, but the skin looks OK to us. It did clear up but has come back so back on the hay-fever tabs and the steroid cream, but.only doing it once a day, not twice, as it can thin the skin.
Well vets are a law unto themselves. Hope Nooky dreams of biting them. Love Arran but may not get to go the hospital want me to stay close.
