Alex, I know it’s been many years since you posted this however, I used this video today to replace the badge on our 2015 mustang. I looked for a long time to find a good video on how to do this and I’m thankful I did found yours. Thank you
This was very helpful!! I used this video to take my decklid off... I taped around the emblem and had it sprayed with 4 coats of glossy black and 2 coats of coverage
Hopefully you keep making videos in reference to your v6.. most people aren't showing the 3.7 much love, I'm still debating between an ecoboost or a v6, I like the v6 more but can't overlook the vast aftermarket support for the ecoboost. Thanks for making these vids, much appreciated
Sigrafix the mustang he has in this video is a ecoboost not a v6, the way you can tell the difference between the 2015 v6 and ecoboost, ecoboost premium look at the emblem in the back.. the ecoboost and ecoboost premiums only have the pony as shown in video.. the v6's 2015 emblem on the decklid has a pony with a vertical piece splitting the pony
@Ryn 2011 I've got the 2015 Ecoboost and I know where you are coming from. One of our buddies was always dogging me about it being 4 cylinders when he has the v6 Mustang. After I put multiple car lengths between us he stopped talking trash. ;)
Thank you for doing this video! I'd like to add one thing. The two tabs closest to the camera are plastic and BY FAR the hardest part of this job. I pretty much mangled them yanking them off but there are plenty more. You can make it a lot easier by just squeezing the tabs with a pair of pliers to get them through the guide holes. Also, you don't pull it straight back to get it off, after all but the last two tabs are free, squeeze the tabs and pull straight down, not back.
I am recommending wait until it is warmer or you can get your car inside to warm the panel. The plastic used is not meant to be bent and will be more brittle at lower temperatures.
My god I just did this on my 2016 mustang and it was a freakin pain. Removing the deck lid once the screws are taken off is still difficult, it's hard to tell if you will break the deck lid in half or take it off because it's really stuck on there. Took me about 50 minutes but yes, it's possible on your own. My advice, yank that sucker off as hard as you can, it's pretty sturdy. I pulled as hard as I could upward (not toward me) and it popped off. Then I scratched the melted rubber behind the decal with scissors. Once it was gone I pushed through with the scissors and it popped right off.
Looks good with the deck lid painted the same color. My question is, how you you reconnect a new emblem if you cut the plastic bolts that were connecting the original emblem?
The easier method is to just unscrew the 4 bolts and then use a plastic panel removal tool and stick it in the outer top edge of the decklid, then and pry upwards. CJ Pony parts and LMR have a good tutorial for it.
Pony badge = 4 cylinder. Pony with Two Stripes= 6 cylinder. GT badge. Obviously a 5.0. I was a ford tech for a while. That's how we could tell what engine without looking under hood
I can't get the black deck lid off the trunk, should I just push it harder? I feel like if I push any harder I'm going to break it. Keep in mind, this is the first time it's been removed, so I'm guessing it's in there pretty good.
first time I was scared shitless.. but if you removed the screws then you just gotta pull on it harder... dont go crazy tho... just increase the amount of force slowly and it will pop up
Hi, I am currently transforming my all black 2015 into my personal Batmobile. I have an emblem I have my eye on for the rear deck lid. It is the bat symbol in chrome and it is 4 and 1/2 inches long by 2 inches tall. It is smaller than the pony. Your video is great. Is there any issue with the back up camera functioning after? That would be my biggest worry. I think I can deal with covering the holes.
I hear you....you could get so caught up in being sure to put all the pieces back on correctly and forget that little "plug in" step. The current pony emblem, its chromed ABS plastic, not real metal chrome correct?
You could plane the pegs then redrill/predrill small holes into the emblem pegs. With great care, attach the emblem with stainless steel screws, with just enough torque to hold the emblem. I will say, this is the worst assembly of the car, just stupid to use plastic welds.
I also found another video... if enough of your pegs are still intact and the back melted part there, you might be able to buy some emblem adhesive from a local auto parts store. Buy the best you can get. Don't scrimp on this install.
EcoBoost sounds like a pea shooter, V6 lot's better, not a V8 but close enough, gas mileage is great on Ecoboost, V6 not to bad, The power range of the V6 is accurate for some road conditions, EcoBoost can do well on very much all road conditions, money wise, for me the EcoBoost wins normally you will save money, the V6 is OK too, depends on how deep is your pocket. Like anything else if you go crazy on mods then forget about all this. Just my 1 cent, cuz I owe the other cent is all I can afford!
The bolts are 7mm not 9/32. Be careful what you are telling your viewers to do. I wouldn't be too pleased if I trusted you and stripped out some bolt heads. There is also no benefit to removing the inside cover first. The camera can be unplugged after pulling the deck lid panel free. The wire is plenty long as long as you don't yank it like the hulk.
hasan yalavac would you like your GF to cover up her acne with make up come on man don't do that V6 is good enough is you're not planning on using all of its HP
hasan yalavac yes brother youcan do it. same exact holes on all the 2015 and up models. its your money your car your choice. don't give a fucking shot to these scumbag low life fucktards. go for it

Franciscus Chung
It's a v6...dot..
Incorrect. It's a V6. I know him personally

hey im curious as to what you went with? i have a 17 EB and it is honestly amazing

Thanks for the tutorial really helpful mine looks great simpler than I thought
looks like there are four holes on your deckled, is there anyway you can post a picture of the holes? thank you.
Why did Ford put holes just to hold that plastic piece of shit emblem in the center of the trunk.
I am recommending wait until it is warmer or you can get your car inside to warm the panel. The plastic used is not meant to be bent and will be more brittle at lower temperatures.
I own a 16 gt and i am about to swap out the deck lid emblem for a black gt emblem. Thanks for the video tutorial now i know how to do it safely.
+Brooklyn Zombie save money and time and use black plasti dip and glossifier if wanted, 5 mins done

Thanks a lot for making the effort of shooting this video for us. Much appreciated.

probably with some type of glue
used his method but started removal of panel from top with a body filler spreader. Took a lot of the fear away..
That's for the video. Was wondering how many holes there were behind my emblem.

It worked out! Ecoboost Mustang 2015 thanks again.
Are you in COMR?

nah man you are good. just make sure to connect it back before you put it all together
I hear you....you could get so caught up in being sure to put all the pieces back on correctly and forget that little "plug in" step. The current pony emblem, its chromed ABS plastic, not real metal chrome correct?
+Dennis Daniels yeah just plastic
There's no 3m tape on emblems?
Thanks for this video. I did it exactly as in the video. Has worked great.
+Alex Efros is it possible to place the emblem back if you don't like it without?
Most say they used glue
Thank you sir. Worked on my 2019
You did a wonderful job
Can you please give me an estimate on how far apart the holes are?
Do you think a GT badge would cover those holes?
Miller Zayn i hope you didnt put a gt badge on your ecoboost/v6
You can also order the black decklid without the pony logo from CJPonyParts.com
Could another way of removing the emblem be with dental floss and a heatgun?
Do you have the distance between the hole my new emblems is 4.25 inch diameter and just want to make sure it will conver.
Me too I want a 69 gas cap billet but I am not sure il fit
did anyone get that distance?
can you post a picture of the holes close up?
I'm doing that to my 2016 v6 now
Kale Perry same here on my V6, I’m about to paint mine matte black
Did anyone else actually do these and the backup Camera no longer works? If so, what did you do to fix it?
+Jonathon Gibbs take it to the dealer use the
warrenty
Bro can you make a video saying I don’t say bleh, bla, ba, bleh, ba, bleh 😂
Thank you for the info. Very helpful.
So for the emblem it replaces , how do i hold it in place if im using the same holes, glue?
3m tape would work
@@Sixty8coupe The back of my 50th anniversary emblem is foam rubber. Adhesion is iffy. But, it could work, not sure how long it would hold.

How do you cover the holes after??
you can take it to a body shop to paint or put a custom badge in. Up to you.

Could i do this in the 2013 v6?
no they have different emblem mount
Very help me. Thank you.
Thank you
ES TODO CAMARADA MUCHAS GRACIAS!!!
late model restoration has the blank deck lid panels for a little over a hundred bucks, it's a factory ford part and it looks better than this shit
or cj pony parts l, which is where all my buisness goes
Can i just replace THE pony emblem to gt emblem is it THE same holes ??
No, you can't do that, because that's rebadging and it's fucking gay. Buy the GT if you want the GT.
hasan yalavac would you like your GF to cover up her acne with make up come on man don't do that V6 is good enough is you're not planning on using all of its HP
İ dident ask for your comment
hasan yalavac yes brother youcan do it. same exact holes on all the 2015 and up models. its your money your car your choice. don't give a fucking shot to these scumbag low life fucktards. go for it
are u a russian?
yeah
Я сразу услышал:)))
no need to remove the carpet pointless
gotta unplug the camera...
Alex Efros no need to remove the carpet plenty of play in the wire to disconnect when you take off the decklid
Yep, you are right. No need to take off the carpet.
