Appetite: Ghrelin and Leptin Explained

  • Leptin: A hormone predominantly produced in adipose tissue that is a key mediator of long-term regulation of food intake and body weight and inhibits hunger.
    Ghrelin: A hormone secreted by the stomach that stimulates appetite. Levels increase during fasting states and decrease after intake of food.
    Both work for fat regulation and appetite control.

    I can’t speak for anyone else’s experiences. Everyone’s body is different. But I saw a difference with LEPTIN overnight. I was less hungry. At the same time I was not tired. I think this will help me lose my final 12 pounds. And I think it will help with the food bill.

    How to master these hormones by getting the benefits of both without the downside? Ghrelin produces HGH and IGF-1 which burns fat, but makes you extremely hungry and lethargic. Leptin is only stimulated by carbohydrates that make fat.

      i would assume it's ketogenic adaptation, when your blood sugar is stable, insulin is low and ketones have replaced the majority of your energy demands then hunger can be reduced/diminished until your fat stores and trash amino acids are starting to become scarcer. If you think about it, once you tap into your fat storage, your body enters a place where there's like 30-100 days of food in calories depending on if you are 10% or 30% bodyfat, why would it be hungry?

    • @step_zero
      @step_zero  2 года назад +1

      ketogenic diets have a large host of benefits as long as they are nutritionally well rounded and fasting is a great tool for hormonal balance + weight loss.

    HINT: and HOW do you turn leptin ON in your body? take ZINC! i find that zinc gluconate is the best way to do this; I cut the zinc gluc 50mg pills in half (use a pill splitter its great) in a bunch and put them in little container, take 1 half pill in morning with food and 1 half pill with dinner. eat your MAIN meal (dinner type meal) at noon time, then at 5/6 pm have a very light meal, ie mostly veggies, bit of starch, bit of meat, about 1/4 of what u wd normally have. no sugar, coffee, alcohol they destroy your program and your body. works great.

    do you think this is because she is eating fat free foods diet food, as long as i know fat will help to produce laptin,

    i'm thinking may be to give litlle lamb fat after meal so body can get laptin produced ?

      You can try an elimination diet intriducing foods one by one and seeing what she is sensitive too. Hormone levels also change with age so this may improve with time.Foods higher in protein and fats and fiber are more filling and can produce satiety if that is what you are looking for.
      It is good you are doing your own research and getting informed but please double check information you get form online forums.

    I have this malady. I am never 'hungry'. It's not about 'appetite'. These words are misleading. I wish they could be replaced with 'metabolic drive and causation' or something of the sort. What I experience is a constant subconscious drive/urge to eat that is driven by the imbalance. Behavior should be replaced with the word 'outcome' etc. Let's frame it correctly and take out any hint at individual person driven decision making. If your body tells you that you are cold you put on a sweater, if your body tells you that your are 'starving' you eat.

      I fixed it through fasting. People with obesity aren't Leptin sensitive. I would do 48 fasts and then eat one meal a day and gradually as my weight came down i found i couldn't eat the same amount as before. This is why obese people cannot lose weight. The Leptin doesn't work properly because obesity is like a disease that screws all your hormones up. Cutting out sugar also helps. So much of our health problems come from too much sugar.
