It’s amazing how many shops don’t deburr or prep blocks. A little time and effort can work wonders. You are absolutely correct that you really don’t know till ya know. Really beginning to appreciate your content. 👍🏻
Dan! The power of Machining is a REAL strong suit for you dude, I think this is a powerful push for you. I really like the way metal can be transformed by an adept eye, it is admiral in its art, please educate. I mean... Look at the POWER, look at the efficiency it adds to a project. The rewards of a successful project must be pure bliss
Very cool Faye! I learned that from my engine teacher in technical school in 86. We did a demo in school and its amazing how easy it can crack! That was awesome of Danny to show and teach you and everyone in RUclips! Sorry about your tools that guy was a real tool! I hate to say it but I bet it's someone close to your shop! Your Feather baby is so cute!
Great way to start the week. I love learning something new. And that could be something Danny could do on his channel,is different machining tools and tricks. Y'all have a great week
Good video. I've been a Master Engine Machinist for the last 35 years. I always chamfer holes and edges. It eliminates future problems, and keeps your customers from slicing themselves. I'm going to be starting my own machining channel and I'll be sure to include this topic. Keep up the good work Faye!
I need to consider adding chamfering when I drill and tap my oil galleries on my VW Type 1 cases. Definitely cleaner look. Sorry about that theft! That sucks!
I do this on all my blocks. I also take a small sanding roll on a die grinder and go over all the sharp edges on a block just to break the edge. Keeps them from cracking, and also keep you from getting cut. Also, look at all your oil returns and make sure they are fully open. Many times they can be partially blocked from the casting process. If they are blocked, take a carbide and open them up! SBC's are particularly bad at this on the back lifter valley oil returns.
Say this with a Southern accent...what’s a cham fer? Now I know. My Dad used to say chamfering bit. Never got the chance to show me what he meant. Thank you Faye, now I know also. I understand that chickens have a closeup eye and a distance eye. Maybe that’s why they whip their heads around to get another look at something.
Chickens are very smart, no bird brain here. I’ve also heard that quail sleep in a circle on the ground facing outwardly. When you walk up on them they fly away in all directions.
✝️🇺🇸👍Rule of thumb for Machinist chamfer and deburr everything save on stress cracks and a lot of cut fingers thanks again for the video it was great as always and have a blessed day
I didn't knew that having flat bolt holes could cause cracks on engines, we say 'achaflanár' for 'chamfering' here in the N of Spain; those images of at least one of the thiefs that assaulted your shop should very helpful to the police, and i hope they be, i wanna see those guys pay. Stay well! see you the wednesday
Faye your chamfer's are gorgeous :) ;) keep up the good work ! I swear I learn more from your channel than I ever thought I might . God Bless and keep on wrenching
Race Engine Builders and Machinists know to do this to prevent the threads from pulling. It also aids as a " lead in " for the stud or bolt. Cast iron is self lubricating and requires a slow r.p.m. Beleive it or not a light steady blast of air can be used to cool the tooling when machining cast iron. Aluminum works well with a slightly higher speed and a light lubricant.
I've got a set of those bits for counter sinking screw heads into wood and counter tops. Since I bought the ones made for cutting metal, they should last a lifetime.
Ducks can shut off 1/2 of their brain, or all of their brain. Depends on the surroundings, ex. predators. Chickens sleep sound, that's why you can pick up a chicken while it's sleeping on a perch. That's why they roost in trees in the wild. Some ducks sleep on ponds, while other outer ducks sleep with one eye open, for predators. And they take turns guarding the flock. When you have ducks and chickens, you find out these things. Same as chamfering your head. So now you know everything! Wont be too long for me to know everything also! thanks for the lesson.
His looks like he knows where to look for that cash. Somebody must of told him where to look for it. And, that somebody is someone you know that you work very closed to you.
I am so very sorry that you were robbed. Some people ( no matter what their reason or excuse is ) are just “ bottom feeders”. I have an older son I have wanted to “ trust” and have spent his life time explaining to him why he can’t and shouldn’t do certain things. I have even said things like:” You thought “ the board of education “ really hurt, try getting the end of a “ double Barbers leather strap” all over your body as punishment for something your brothers did.” Some people have to attend “ the school of hard knocks “ , then they know what it’s like. I hope that guy( guys) who did this get caught and punished. ( If they can’t do the “ time”, they shouldn’t do the “ crime”.) 🧹💫🤠
@02:45 I recognize that squeal of joy! I make the same one when I chamfer edges on 3D models. We call it beveling. We do it so the edge catches light better and the surface looks more natural.
Hi Faye, a long time ago my dad use to have a chamfering tool that he used for metal and wood so flat head screws would be flush with the surface. I did not know you could do that on an engine. So cool!!! Hope somebody catches that son of a @*&%@ 😡🤬😡 Looking forward to watching Danny's new channel, he is a genius. Love your videos 💜💜💜 and of course the chickens🐔🐔🐔 See ya on Wednesday. Take care.
They are called stress risers. You want to not have 90 degree edges on holes or bends. I make knives and other blacksmith items. Love the videos great content .
Faye, did you chase the top few threads with a tap after as I assumed probably so but just didn't get that aspect into the video ( and of course solvent/blow out the blind thread holes as well ).

Don’t know if you knew your place but kind of like you, you know where to look for leaks he knows where to look for money and goods. are you able to tell how long he was there if he’s a pro he was probably in and out in five minutes I hope this was just random it would be just that much worse if he knew who he was stealing from I’m glad no mechanics or chickens were harmed sorry that happened stay strong stay safe🐔🐔🐔👍
Faye Hadley You’re so nice this was really about you after all I did get my ashtray back again sorry that happened to you with all the good that you do you didn’t deserve that❤️🐔
I just wanted to point out that bigger is not better when chamfering bolt holes. The outside diameter of the chamfer should not exceed the outside diameter of the bolt thread. There are advantages to keeping the chamfer small like Danny demonstrated, but I won't explain it in this post.
Is that part of the office visible to the public?... it seemed like he knew exactly where to go for the money, unless you cut the tape that way... anyways sorry to hear about that I'll send good juju your way hopefully luck changes... cheers:)
He seemed to know exactly where to look so he must have been there before. Is there a name on the back of that shirt or is it a shadow? Maybe a parts delivery guy? He must live in the area. Do the police have a facebook page they can up load that to or even the local newspapers website. He can run but not hide.
Your Chamfers are really sexy... Love your channel and you and Danny's friendship. Sorry someone broke into your shop and stole all that stuff from you :(

Up Grade your camera system to. 4K at least four cameras with push notification that sent you an email so you can call the police at the time of the robbery in progress. Here’s something that’s cool at Amazon you can buy a motion sensor German shepherd barking alarm it sounds like a real German Shepherd and as a person gets closer to your door the bark gets louder it’s called Rex you can change it to go dingdong during the day when someone walks in your shop and then set it to bark when you go home . Stay safe Love God and train
