    Love listening to Danny, a wealth of knowledge. Lots of shops would have milked the head, lined bored it and never corrected the actual problem. If you're a car guy and find a machinist like him you don't go anywhere else.

      Look into pitching out the clicker torque wrench too.
      I was waiting for him to get into the subject of a beam style torque wrench being more accurate when used properly.
      They made clickers so any yoyo can use them.

    • @MrTheHillfolk
      @MrTheHillfolk 4 года назад +1

      Also when running a head down , after the first stage go back and check the first head bolt again.
      I'll almost guarantee it's loose ...
      keep running the loop until they don't move anymore before proceeding to the next stage.
      Bolts and torque and lubricants , thickness of item torqued ...
      It all factors in, and metal is a little more flexible than we realize.

    • @MrTheHillfolk
      @MrTheHillfolk 4 года назад +2

      @@dielauwen
      Because at low torques , friction doesn't come into play too much with a fastener.
      So it's easier for everyone to torque something to a low number because of the friction.
      Maybe you lubricated the bolts and the next guy didn't.
      The guy who didn't isn't gonna have the same clamp load on his part.
      Some manufacturers want bolts lubed , some don't , some are very fussy about what kind of lubricant to use.
      All that is gonna change the clamp load.
      Adding degrees of turning , it's easy to figure out the clamp load and how much by stretch they want and what kinda clamp load they want.
      Ever seen a rod bolt torqued by the thousands of an inch stretch ?
      They don't even tell you : oh 50ft pounds ....
      no it's measured in thousanths of an inch.
      Way more accurate that way, you know the fastener size and the stretch , they can determine the clamp load from that.

    Torque to yield is also to have the male & female threads seat perfectly to each other. In which case in an aluminum head or block, the aluminum threads must conform to the stronger steel fastener.
    With that said, I only torque to yield on a new fastener and the first torque applied to a newly machined i.d. thread.
    Torque to yield can get risky on an o.d. & i.d thread that's already been tensile stretched and seated

Actually the last time I did use one I was in the Army...we didn’t have many tools and certainly not air tools so a speeder handle was the quickest way of running on fasteners!

    No bearings? The science behind this is amazing. It makes you wonder how it ever worked in the first place with all those surfaces that have to align . Got to look up torque (what) ? Sounds like torqueteal . Your pet seemed happy, the wife must have been asleep.

    i think Faye was in the intro. all i see is a gorgeous supra out of frame. whats up with that?😂. my baby just ejected some internals this weekend so another 2 years looking for a mildly abused 2J in my country on the cards for me, . one shop i would not mind being a simple cleaner in, the logic and experience one would learn just by listening and paying attention. hope you get them heads sorted asap, but i am enjoying these.
