    IIRC Early model 240Turbos ('81 - '83) without the intercooler had 127 hp @ 5400 rpm & 150 ft-lbs. torque @ 3750 rpm. Maximum factory boost pressure was 7.5 psi.
    1984 240 Turbos without the intercooler had 131 hp @ 5400 rpm & 155 ft-lbs. torque @ 3750 rpm. Maximum factory boost pressure was 7.5 psi.
    1985 240 Turbos with the intercooler (stock) had 162 hp @ 5100 rpm & 181 ft-lbs. torque @ 3900 rpm. Maximum factory boost pressure was 10.5 psi.
Volvo dealers started offering the intercooler kit after sales of the 1984 model year were already in progress - about halfway through the model year (around January / February of 1984). The price of the kit was staggering, but as seen from the numbers above, added about 31 horsepower and almost 30 ft-lbs. of torque.
Thus, most 1984.5 and newer 240 Turbos actually received the intercooler kit already installed from the factory and probably had a higher MSRP.

    Dear David Bello.
👍👌👏 Another great video. Despite the fact that it rained, you did extremely well. This time (and very unusual because it's not an oldtimer) I liked the NA FLASH Volvo the most. Simply because of the gorgeous green exterior and the stunning orange interior. It's a kind of dream car and I would love to own it.
    2) Did I miss something? Obviously you have sold Ivy to buy the gorgeous and almost rust free and nearly not sun damaged "Mermaid" (or "Oceans 11"?). She is really, really beautiful. As often mentioned, I love nearly everything that is green. I like the fact that your new oldtimer car has fuel injection. So no fiddling around with the carburator(s) necessary any longer. Hope you got completely rid of the moldy smell so that you can enjoy driving your new old vehicle. By the way: It was nice to see that a lot of friends helped you. I wish you a ton of fun with the car. The engine runs smooth, sounds really good and strong (nearly turbine like while accelerating). Congrats for purchasing this Volvo and congrats for the medals/prices.
As always: Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing.
Best regards luck and health to all involved people.

    • @DavidBello
      @DavidBello  Год назад +3

Dear Chru Cas, thank you for the comment and congratulations. Yes, Ivy was sold earlier this summer and I was hired to do her restoration as well. This makes a nice full circle, as the effort put into Ivy was rewarded in this car, in a way, both personally and at the show. I have a full backyard of volvo cars and parts that I am daily recording footage to put together in videos here. But the big priority is the Ivy movie, which recounts the entire story and this chapter as well. It is my goal to have that out by year’s end.
So far I love the new green car, and I’ve just been calling it “109” as I often keep the previous owners’ monikers. I hope you’re well and enjoying cooler weather once more. See you soon with the next video on the second car show. SLORolling festival upon the completion of this car’s cross-country road trip home to California!
      David
      P.s. today is my birthday

I don't know who owns the strange blue 122 Amazon, but I swear that's my old car. It was painted that blue and a Ford Econoline van that color on the same weekend in 1972. The original color was a powder blue. The car originated in NJ made it's way to NH, where I traded it straight up in 73 for a new Formula Vee Beetle (Big Mistake). The VW lasted 4 years and the floors and rockers completely rusted away. There's always been a Volvo in our driveway and I'm currently resurrecting my 77/245 with 680,000 miles. Afraid it will never be in a show as it's my FrankenVolvo. (wish I could post a photo of the Marvel updraft tractor carb that replaced the fuel injection).

It's both really cool but frustrating in the little nuisances between the 164 years. Tape speedo to the standard...the wash bottle 12 oz to the milk jug...brake lights vertical 3 to horizon at 4 to horizontal 6.... Headrest..
Oh my. Thanks again for the videos.

Greetings David, this is a great vid on the national meet. But I have a question that has puzzled me for years, and as you're an expert on these Volvos I thought you might have the answer.
On the timing belt cover of the Group A 242 there is a paper sticker. Red background with black text reading "800". Can you tell me what the 800 signifies?
Many red blocks of this era had stickers on the timing belt cover with different numbers. I once asked my Volvo mechanic if he knew what it meant. He said he knew exactly what it meant. Clearly I had asked the wrong question, I should have asked, "What does it mean?". I never did find out.
    Can you enlighten me?
