This is ingenious! I do wonder though if you could print a new cartridge that accepts a ballpoint nib and can be filled from a syringe, and have a bit more capacity?
Thank you! I haven't had much luck refilling the pens without bubbles causing air locks, unfortunately, though I think my syringes are probably a bit too fat. It looks like the original pens had a wick behind the ball which might make refilling a bit easier, alongside the thinner ink than what's in these gel pens. I don' t have access to a 3D printer so haven't been able to experiment there, but had looked at using the case for 5mm diameter temperature probes as a pen body. Transferring the ink and having the pen still write afterwards proved to be the problem for me again. Maybe adding a wick (e.g. taken from inside a felt pen) might help guide the ink? Not sure!
Thank you for this video while I need a set of pens, I do have 12 original pens that are dry, I would like to share 4 of them with you if you would like. I would like to think that perhaps there is a way of refilling them or you could use the original body with your pen as an insert. Please let me know if this would be useful to you, I went to your web site but was unable to find an email address to contact you directly.
Thank you very much indeed, that's very kind of you to offer! I'm not sure about refilling the pens, though I had seen a forum post about a technique to refill the modern German ones (as well as a recommendation of the right sort of ink to use) though as I've not seen the original pens I'm not sure how they'd compare. I need to do some more experiments with refilling these gel pens, too, as you waste a lot of the ink making new ones each time (the only syringes I have at the moment only just fit in the end of the refills and result in large air bubbles that block the pens up, no good). As RUclips makes it very difficult to share links, it may be easier to switch to email - my name at the very bottom of my website is a link to my email address. Thank you again! 🙂
I don't even have a device like this, but watched the whole video till the end. such an informative video!
That's high praise indeed, so thank you! 🙂
I’m sold, I need this.
What a beautiful machine
You are too intelligent for this planet lol, great video well done 👍
Haha, I'm not so sure about that, but thank you very much! 🙂
