She's one of my favorite vocalists. A joy to listen to. Her softer upper range is angelic, but then she really projects her voice in the middle/lower ranges that is flat out sonorous. On top of all that, she always looks so happy to be singing - always a smile. Great performer.

We are so used to listening to the mediocre that its a real shock when we find real quality as here. These two are just so supremely talented, both for their writing and performances. As well as Anneke's voice it is Danny's playing that is extraordinary; he's not a guitarist who just happens to play a bit of piano, but he's a fully fledged pianist. The only other guitarist I can think of who is adept on both instruments is Peter White, from a previous generation of musicians.
you are right in some ways, for those who know Anneke's work for quite sometime, we don't expect less than a great voice when she's is singing, those who got used to mediocre music are those who don't look for good music and only something to listening while their lives are boring, but when we look for good musicians and good music, every piece is capable of making you travel while closing your eyes and feel the song.
Exactly, Danny's arrangement and playing are outstanding here! He managed to sustain the intensity of a 6 minute metal song and avoid the pitfalls of sentimentality. The song doesn't sound watered down at all, it is an engaging and subtle rendition of the original that retains all the key notes and musical ideas, while allowing Anneke to be her usual self.
Gorgeous! I've loved this song for about 15 years, but this is the first I'm hearing of this stripped-down version, and I love it! Anneke's voice is magic.

Agree with everyone on her amazing vocals, she's gonna tour with Amorphis this summer here in the States i will be going to support her, shes been my favorite female vocalist since The Gathering, cant wait.
