Hi, is there an email to contact Scotty about a car?
All Hondas of that years span rust out in the rear quarter EXACTLY the same way. Honda was nuts retiring the Prelude!
Yes I had an 87 Honda with the dual carbs I was able to adjust them okay
H series doesn't hold boost well that's why they went with the k and B series
I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and since I’ve had it I pay attention to others. We all ha e rust on the front corner of the driver side door…. Weirdol
Prelude is back
My first car was an 89 Prelude with the 4 wheel steering. It definitely could turn on a dime. I loved that car. I wish I still had it.
If Scotty was making this video in 1991 ( 32 years ago - the year this car was made ), an equivalent car would have been made in 1959 ! Even then it would have looked like a museum piece. This Prelude still looks good
I had a few preludes. These are very good cars for the money. I admired 90s hondas. Styled nice, nice power everyday driving, accessories with optional button gaps ie foglights.... overall great car compared to today's stuff. Love preludes: every generation!😊
I love the old Honda starter sounds, very nostalgic to me, nothing beats them and yes I like cloth seats they last and are comfortable. I can’t stand leather seats
Still have our 92 Prelude, aka Poor mans Porsche. 350,000 miles. Oil changes and timing belts on time. Running great.
Treat her like a lady she will always get you home!
92 Porsche rich owners only dream of those many miles
Suuuuubaruuuuu
I'm sorry to hear that!

Had a 92 prelude with that 2.3L H23A1 non VTEC. Added intake, headers and cat-back exhaust and that thing actually had some grunt. Eventually I got the money together and changed to a VTEC 2.2 engine and even got a few good bucks for the old engine. Drove it for 10 years with zero issues and just did the brakes and oil changes and a timing belt. Ended up selling it with 550,000km on the body and the thing was still going strong! Upgraded to the S2000. What an amazing first car that Prelude was. Absolutely loved that car.❤❤❤
how much did you pay for the s2000?
An old car and the lovely manual transmission. Will run forever, so nice.
9:20 😂 love it when Scotty know Hondas are official. Honda cars are one best sport cars in the business. I’m Toyota fan but love Honda as well 🎉
I love when Scotty laughs and puts up the animal with their teeth showing 😂 that kills me everytime 😂😂😂😂😂😂
me too
As a Honda owner, I love when Scotty rants on Hondas. Lol
Awesome!🥳

My dad had a 94 Honda Accord it rusted in that exact same spot. In fact, he had it repaired and it rusted all over again in that exact same spot.
I have a 92 Prelude Si AWS custom ex-show car. Love my baby. Zero rust. Fully powder coated underneath. Body kit with no seams. Runs like a dream (but not an Earth dream 😂).
Hey I actually like the late model Prelude’s styling😂 I had a clean white 1999 Lewd with VTEC and the rear spoiler until some ditsy girl crashed into me and totaled it a few years ago🤦🏻♂️ I took Scotty’s advice and replaced it with an Acura ILX. Thanks Scotty!
That is probably a 92. It is a Gen 4 lude. My 94 lasted till 311,000 till a tree fell on it. I currently have 358,000 on my 92 lude, but this car wasn't treated well before I bought it with 170,000. Parts are so hard to find. Thanks for reviewing my favorite car Scotty!
We just picked up an AMC Pacer. Solid vehicle.
Do you have the Bahamian Rhapsody CD by Queen? Swing, rock on Garth
😂 Is that to replace your Ford Pinto?
Awesome 👍 Wayne's world!
😁😉
These were beautiful, well built, high quality cars.
Not a 91 Prelude, that body style came out in 92.Gen 4.
This dashboard reminds me of my grandmother’s 1994 Buick, regal, coupe. Had same instrument panel with a bunch of gauges that went from the driver side pretty much all the way to the passenger side. All lined up.
I had a 1988 4WS Prelude in 1999. Bought it for $5000 with a custom paint job thrown in. It was an amazing car. Drove it for about five years until a major hail storm totalled it.
We need a retro inspired prelude comeback
A small hatchback would be nice also
Loved the 1st Gen Preludes. The 70's-80's Honda and Toyota were super basic and amazingly reliable
The driving scene was gold.🤩
I'm getting really nostalgic for 90s cars recently.
Honda Prelude is one’s of my favorite generation from 95 I love the look of jdm style to it especially futuristic cluster gauges. Definitely one of the kind.
Likely the biggest issue for the last 2 generations of Prelude was that Honda ALSO Parallel Marketed the Accord Coupe and Hatchback which was basically the same car, with better insurance rates.
I had a 2000 si burned oil too, I once blew the motor and drove that b16 home with only 2 cylinders lol that thing was my favorite car
Me too 😆 i reved it to much on 4th gear and broke 2 valves and i still drove home couldnt go pass 60mph 😆
What a pleasant review! I absolutely agree with your logic. Thanks for the video, Mr. Kilmer.
Owned an 86 Honda Prelude SI. That was definitely not an ugly car, girls loved it. Handled amazingly well and Road and Track called the best overall handling car they drove. Its weight distribution and understeer was the reason. I put over 280,000 on that car. The only car that was as good was my 99 Accord. What ruined the Prelude was the other car that Honda made, the Acura Integra with the VTEC.
My friend still got his 92 Honda Prelude V Tec, that he bought new back in the early 90's, it's still going strong ,even still got the small dent in the roof when he punched 👊 it back in 1993 when he broke up with his girlfriend, his car still with him though, & it's rust free
I like the later version of the third generation, the one that was a facelift and came out just before this one. It's more boxy style rear with a nice spoiler and pop up headlights looked nice IMO.
They were never rebadged - they had a superior suspension, especially the type sh, and atts system as well as the superior engine and transmission.
So Wise , Thank You . Just what we all need
The prelude is legendary, I'll always miss mine!
Loved my prelude! Si was more than fun! 160hp 160lbft
My 81 Accord had a 3 bbl carb on it and it didn't like Ethanol gas at all. It would vapor lock if you parked it for a few minutes after driving it.
This is not a ‘91 Prelude. I owned a ‘91 Prelude it had the pop up headlights. This is a 4th Gen Prelude so 92-96.
If your car burns a cord of oil every couple months and you top it up consistently, are oil changes required? Serious question lol
always wondered about that
*quart, not cord. And yes, if it's burning it, you definitely need oil changes, perhaps even more frequently. Besides, you should change it every 6 months at most, or every 3 months for the earliest.
@@DarkEnigma1115 sorry for my English, I'm Muslim
Yes , Change your Oil and Filter every 3 to 5,000 miles if using Synthetic .
I had a 1989 Prelude and a 1994 Prelude. They were awesome..😊
My brother had one, handled really well
Yes I had a 87 prelude great car
My favorite gen is the 82-91 with the flip up headlights .
Love my 93 SI. Has the h23, 150k. Solid car other than the air compressor deciding to turn into a grenade while i was driving.
4th gen was definitely the best Prelude. Best looking, fastest and best front/rear weight ratio for cornering. If that car was mine i would have painted the manifold heat shield black immediately. And in few days rear arches made for good. Replaced the sunroof with a glass one from 5th gen. Then enjoy the car for another 30 years. No stupid wheels and builds. Stock
Fyi to anyone trying to "fix" rust. I had a 93 civic hatch with a dime size piece of rust on each rear quarter panel. I took it to a shop that bough 2 brand new quarter panels from Honda (expensive!) and welded them on. Less than 6 months later the rust came back. In a unibody car, once there's rust, the entire car is effected. Some science crap I don't understand. Just know you can't fix it.
How about postal vehicles? No license plates, no State inspection anywhere.
Yeah idk man back in the day road around in a 2.0 s prelude and it was fun.
Also spent some time in a prelude 2.0 si and the pgmfi fuel injection system definitely made a big difference. Both turned 8,000 rpm without issue.
That looks like a 92,93 model..i probably owned like 8 hondas .. 90s honda engines were indestructible especially standard, the gearbox was really smooth..
surprised the ac was original. our 96 civic compressor blew chunks after about 12 years. still drove great though just cut the belt to the compressor and on we went.
The '91 Prelude SI had classic beauty!!!!
More attractive than the newer style, IMHO!
Agree… was pretty surprised that Scotty said they were ugly, lol
I had a red 91 SI with pop up lights. Wish I had kept it.
I really wish Honda would bring back the Accord V6 Coupe except bring it back rebadged as the Prelude! (I never understood why they put a 4 -cylinder engine into a "sports car.") My favorite Prelude body style was the last generation...except for the weird looking headlights and the grill. In 2001, I was disappointed to learn that they were going to be discontinued at the end of that year. I would've loved to have seen the sketches for the next generation if there were any.
Nope the early ones were cool. Especially the four wheel steering. I loved that little car and was so disappointed with the jack-o-lantern tail lights.
I always loved the lude, could never afford one. Now that I can they don't make them
I hear your man, I couldn't believe they rented me one in Honolulu when I was 19, I drove that thing through the mud and ebreaked it through the grass lol it was fun fun fun
The prelude is a really nice looking car
They sorta still make Preludes, just get a 2door V6 Honda Accord! 275 HP! They’re nuts!
haha no way scotty talking about a prelude, i love my 93 si
That's a 92 not a 91... 91 was the last year for pop up head lights.
19 September 1991, the fourth-generation Prelude was introduced in Japan, and in Europe from early 1992.
Yep!!!
Owner probably gave him the wrong year, but he repeated it a dozen times.😂
That is right, the 91 was still square.
The 4th gen was released in Japan in 19 Sept 1991.
Scotty shifting like a twenty year old! Good for you Scotty.
Scotty is best when looking at yhis sort of car, not slagging off ev or doing political stuff. We all know ev is not green. Keep these ones coming.
If the Italians did variable valve timing 1st and they blew up... It does count.
I loved my 98 Acura Integra Better than I liked my 97 accord or 98 prelude or my 2001 Honda Civic VTEC that thing blew through automatic transmissions it’s the only automatic that I had out of all my hondas
Brother, I own a fifth GEN prelude and I know exactly what you are talking about. I still love my car though I would send you a picture of it but I can’t do that on RUclips L O L.
327 Chevys - Fill up the oil and check the gas.
Hey, Scotty, as a long-time Prelude Si owner, I can tell you that this is not a 1991 model. A quick Google search will confirm this. You can also check the sticker attached on the driver's side center pillar.
What year is it? Looks like a 92, 93
Man make me miss my 95 with the h22a1, car i learn manual in lol
Thunderbirds were really 1969-1978 Lincoln Mk3's-5's. Those are 460 cid BEASTS. My dad had a '54 Thunderbird when they first came out and a '69 Mk3. They were better than 1953 Corvettes at the time.
Yeah and didn't some of those early Thunderbirds have super chargers? McCullough.
Nice "endless money pit in the back" 😁
I love seeing Scotty slamming gears 😂
3:18 that warning chime sounds like my alarm clock
time to start the engine!
Back when cars were simplicity❤
Hyundai Elantra N's break loudness issues (nice sounding muffler system) that sells stock like this. So this qualifies as sold as legal but isn't everywhere.
That's what I thought the video was about 😁
Scotty you're so Rad my man
Low miles and working AC? What a deal!
92-96 model you have there, Scotty
F22A
I saw a Supra today, it was totally tricked out. Not the stand body. If it did not say Supra and would not have guessed it was a Toyota, Toyota's a boring like the Camry, Matrix or Tacoma. Right?
I had an Honda b4 n they're good car's too, i never had any problems with it either, it drove wonderfully over snow, i never got stuck, i do miss that car.
I miss my ‘88 Prelude😢
This car made Scotty remember when he was a young buck in high school. 😂
Think I'd rsther just steer clear of NJ lol
Scotty, please review video;
Watch "NEVER Buy a Toyota Like THIS ONE!
Do Toyota frames lack good rustproofing or, is this the owner's fault? I would like to get your opinion.
@timd travel they lacked it mostly before 2007-08. Combined with forgetting to rinse the salt off, and not quality coating like new ones have, they can start to rust. However if you rinse your trucks frame off regularly, you probably won’t have that issue. This goes for all body on frame vehicles. If you rinse it off regularly, it won’t rust and crumble on you in the long run. This goes for Chevy, GMC, Dodge, Ford, Toyota (especially older ones), it doesn’t matter which one
Scotty can you tell us about Honda 2.4 engine and 8speed dual clutch transmission i have in my 2019 tlx.
Everybody here loves you Scotty...
What is VTEC? Is it variable valve timing?
Lifters????
Scotty I remember the Honda Del Sol wasn't it a convertible top???
Might have been like a T-top.
That is NOT a 1991 Prelude. I have one and it was the last iteration where the headlights went up and down. Easy mistake Scotty. No big deal.
Didn't they start building 4th gen in September 91?
Mr Knowitall the only man who could fight the law and still maintain legal status!
The Honda Prelude with popup headlights is very very famous in The Netherlands.
That can’t be a 91 that body style is too new. My parents had a new 94 prelude same color and I think this is a 93/94 not 91 but prove me wrong please! If anything it was made half way through 91 and had the 92-96 body style
My car breaks state laws all the time. It’s still legal too.
The early ones aren't ugly because they look pretty sleek and they have pop-up headlights which are cool!
I'm a fan of the gen 1 Prelude.
....and gen 3. :)
whats the difference between rebuild and remanufactured compressor?
One replaces damaged parts, puts the old good parts back. Remanufactured is all new
That optima battery is worth more than the entire car
I put prelude seats in my 86' Accord. Miss that car, was like a go kart.
Thats a 1992 prelude not 1991.... different model.
No V6 tho
My 94 HONDA Accord has 205 000 Miles and the AC still works okay!!!
Nice
I'm Sitting in the Only Car That Can Break State Laws and Still Be Legal: 94 Celica........LOL
That’s a 92 Prelude..
My uncle had an 88’ All Yellow 4WSteer Prelude which he put over 240K miles. Only replaced a clutch slave cylinder.
Traded it for a Saturn. BIG MISTAKE 😂
