The way Zuko besieged his father was just wonderful, like, come on, sit down, shut up and listen
Why is the writing in this show so bad!? Aang can run at super speed, but he couldn't catch up to Azula, or he could've just flown with his glider and landed in front of her... this is why I hate kids shows, too much plot armor, too soft, not violent enough, and not even remotely dark enough.

@@ncard00 Yeah, fly with a glider in a cramped space??? Same with his speed, he can build up to high speeds but he can't just instantly accelerate and decelerate to those high speeds like The Flash. If the show isn't dark enough for you and every show you like has to be dark, then too bad for you. You won't enjoy it.
@hirvale and speed may be vector but it's just not enough for him to be able to change directions so quickly and accurately to pinpoint azula's intricate moves
Zuko redirecting Ozai's lightning is one of my favourite moments in the series too. Literally rejecting his father's power and influence is the perfect culmination of everything he's learned over the series, from Iroh and life in general.
I was thinking of this and remember when in Bitter Work when Iroh taught him the maneuver. Iroh wouldn't shot lightning at him so he could try out the defense so instead he went at top a hill during a lightning storm. And he said is famous line "You've always through stuff at me. well now I can give it back!" It's almost like he was referencing the mental abuse he suffered under Ozai and when he wanted to throw physical abuse at him, Zuko returned it back to him.
Azula managing to fool even Toph's lie detecting feet is definitely impressive. She held off the gang without her bending and distracted them long enough that the eclipse didn't even matter. Girl is a masters at manipulation and gaslighting. Which makes sense. Since she almost certainly learned it from Ozai, the gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss champion.
look how powerful ozai is, with such a small speck of sunlight he could generate that much lighting just from sitting down, crazy strong
People sometime underestimating him. He's Iroh's little bro and a firelord for a reason.
Crazy that people argue Azula is almost as powerful as Ozai, under normal circumstances she can only create lightning from a fighting stance, Ozai can just conjure it like the Emperor from Star Wars. Zuko is crazy powerful tho, he redirected Ozai's lightning despite being caught off-guard, he wasn't even in the stance Iroh taught him, it was his first time, and he had enough control to aim at Ozai's feet instead of blasting at random or hitting his dad.

Zuko can't bend lightning, he can only redirect it like Iroh taught him
@@casperras That....would be Bending it. AKA manipulating an element to move it around as you like. He just can't generate it. Which has always been an interest unique thing about Fire Bending. They're the only one who can create the element. But manipulating existing fire, or lightning, would also be Bending.
For context, Zuko’s mother, Ursa used secret poison to kill Fire Lord Azulon, which would allow Ozai to obtain the throne. Ozai however banished Ursa, in the case she wanted to use the poison against him.
They never mentioned this in the show, but this was the “treason” that Ozai was referring to.
Ursa did this to protect Zuko, as Ozai was ordered by Azulon to kill him as punishment for the suggestion to betray Iroh of the throne. He wanted to make Ozai feel the pain of losing a firstborn son, just as Iroh did when he lost his son in the war. Ursa learned about this order from Azula, and made the deal with Ozai to kill Azulon with the poison.
This just shows how messed up Zuko’s family is
I think it's not bc Ozai affraid she might use the poison to him. I think she just gotta run away after that, after what she did, and Ozai just let that happen. And she poisoned Azulon mostly bc he demand Ozai to sacrifice Zuko and they were probably ploting that the only way to save Zuko was to end Azulon and Ozai let her did that, but she had to dissapear after that.
@@windygrass9807In the comics Ozai says along the lines of "When will this poison be used against me next" and says that he'll banish her. So at the very least, it was a significant reason as to why she was banished.

Fun fact: Ozai used both hands to shoot two lightning bolts... And Zuko redirected both of them back at him

It was the Earth King who told the "Kioshi warriors" about the invasion, not Katara. Katara only told them about Zuko and Iroh being in Ba Sing Sei. Don't slander her name!

Let s appreciate the fact that Osai wasnt mad at zuko for not killing the avatar. He s always thought his son is a failure. Just like he aint mad at azula for lying to him. He s always known azula is an excellent liar. That s why he always relied on her more than zuko. He s mad at himself for understimating the avatar just like Sozin understimated Roku. He doesnt lose his temper until zuko mentions aang might be leading the invasion while he s still vulnerable.
Actually, Azula lying to him had consequences for her.
Since Ozai understood that she lied to him about the most important task, he knew she cannot be trusted anymore.
That's why he decided to take her out of Attack of the Earth Kingdom and making her a new Fire Lord.
Because
1. She's been finally rejected by her father, while previously she had always gained what she wanted with his influence.
2. Making her a Fire Lord was smart move by Ozai (cause it'd make Azula more obedient), because in his world, where he's going to become the Phoenix King (the ruler of the world) the Fire Lord's position would be meaningless and useless, which is exactly how he viewed Azula at that moment.

It goes all the way back to what Zhao once told zuko: *IF YOUR FATHER TRULY LOVED YOU, HE WOULD HAVE YOU BACK WITH HIM WITH OR WITHOUT CAPTURING THE AVATAR* It s not like Osai loved azula. He simply kept her around because she was more competent and successful compared to zuko. And lets face it Azula may have lied to his father and messed up once but she did everything and I mean everything else right. From taking over ba sing se to thwarting the invasion.

And that "once" being killing the Avatar.
Taking over Ba Sing Se was important to Ozai, but not as important as getting rid of Aang.
And, since we know how Ozai was reacting even for a smallest mistakes, you might understand his reaction for the failure of this magnitude.
I think the most terrifying thing is Sozin and maybe Azulon had the mistaken justification that their conquest was to "share their prosperity". But with Ozai, nah, that man is a straight up narcissistic power maniac and does not hide it at all. Everything he does is to benefit his own power. He even views his children only as extensions of his own power, which is why he neglected Zuko, who was supposed to be his perfect heir but showed a gentle nature, and then put his chips into Azula, the prodigy.
Zuko’s redemption is the best thing this season and now the next few episodes are going to be so dope👍🔥
It’s so very satisfying to see Zuko tell his father off.
When Zuko was initially learning lightning redirection, he asked Iroh to throw a bolt at him and obviously Iroh refused. So Zuko went off and yelled at the universe to throw lightning at him, yelling that it had never held back from him before. But it was never the universe making his life hard, it was his father the whole time. And now he’s given it back.
8:44 Good catch with the lightning. Ozai's lightning generation is much faster compared to what we've seen from Azula.

Tf was Aang talking abt? The plot just conveniently makes him forgot he can run faster than wind.
Lol right. My man ran fast enough to make a whirlwind in order to hurdle a boulder to Bumi.
In a much bigger area where he could bring the wind in to help him. He can use the air around him sure, but just like he bends the air currents to help him fly, he bends the wind to give him that speed. No wind, much less speed.
Some people question why Zuko didn't just fight the Fire Lord when he was powerless. I think there are good reasons.
The guards probably didn't go very far. Ozai didn't want family secrets to reach their ears. But, you can bet they'd be on Zuko in seconds if they heard yhe sounds of battle.
We don't know how skilled Ozai is with hidden weapons or just open hand combat. Zuko does. He may not be able to best Ozai even if Ozai has no bending.
Zuko could've just slipped away during the siege. He chose to confront his father. But, I don't think it was just to tell him off. Zuko is burning that bridge. There is no turning back. He's left humself one clear path. Addicts and the abused stumble back into bad habits because it's what they know. One thing they do to recover is get rid of all substances they relied on. They remove themselves from the company of people that are bad influences. And, they declare their weaknesses not only to the world but also themselves.
Also, if Zuko kills Ozai it would just be seen as a son assassinating his father for the crown. It wouldn't work. Ozai killed his father secretly not in olen combat. He'd be killed and Azula would be declared Fire Lord.
And, lastly, Ozai is still his father. It's asking a lot for a son to kill his father. Ozai has no problem with it. But, he's just evil af.
Zuko confronts himself as much as his father. But, only for that reason.
Fun fact: The fire lords VA is Mark Hamill.
I wouldn't even say that Sozin really meant what he said. He just wanted to expand and used nicer words to describe it. It's like using the word "liberated" in place of "stolen."

Those dai Lee agents are soooo spineless, like you LEFT the earth king because a 14 year old intimidated you with WORDS 😭😭 - they are such skilled and stealthy benders that azula wouldn’t be able to beat them 😭
This to me is one of azulas greatest showing. The way she handled this entire invasion is genius military tactics. also, being able to dodge tophs seismic sense attacks as well as go toe to toe with a master airbender in terms of agility is crazy.
It actually doesn't make any sense that she outspeed Aang.

I'm guessing you are referencing how fast Aang can run when using air bending. Yes, in plain travel speed Aang beats everyone. But, travel speed is not battle speed or quickness. Usain Bolt can't beat everyone else because he's the fastest man alive.
@@IamnotJohnFord no it doesnt. Aang isn't just fast in plain travel speed. He has an exceptional air bender agility and quickness. We didn't see anything that Aang usually casually did in his battle in term of quickness and agility here. Azula barely jumped and bounced a few meters on the wall and Aang basically said "omg, I cAnt do tHaT!" 😱
@@windygrass9807 Azula has shown in the past she can keep up with Aang and even surpass him in battle. The only part she can't do here is fight back. Azula beat Zuko without bending while Zuko was bending. She's fought multiple opponents evading all their attacks. She's that good. She has good battle senses. From their movement she can anticipate what they are about to do. You see this in martial arts, boxing and even tennis. I've done all three. She gains the advantage because she's already starting her movement while they are just beginning their telegraphed attack. And, those big staff air bending movements are very telegraphed. If you watch a good counter boxer you can see they don't have to be the fastest or strongest. They just have to evade. Or, as Piccolo would say, "Dodge!!"

Actually if you rewatch the Avatar Roku and Firelord Sozin episode when sozin does give roku the offer to help him and he says no if you pay attention. I believe he was completely honest but was being consumed with power and greed and maybe jealousy. You can actually Visually see him becoming more consumed and evil. Because he is slowly being surrounded by more and more fire all the way until still not fully evil but. Then the next firelord is consumed a little more and turns a little more evil. until we reach Ozai.
As you probably know, Mark Hamill voices the fire lord. When he says certain words, I can hear the Joker!
Do you see the IRONY of Hamill’s role in the show? In Star Wars he was a hero who defied an evil tyrant with lightning powers and had no means of defending himself.
In Avatar, he voices/portrays a very similar bad guy and Zuko has a way of defending himself against lightning!
Patriotism is when you see your country as a child, and understand that it must be properly guided and nurtured.
Nationalism is when you see your country as a parent, believing it can do no wrong and following it wherever it goes, regardless of where the destination.
Zuko is the former.
Ozai is the latter.

Well, he is. I think the most unrealistic thing about this series is the people of fire nation just accepting Zuko as fire lord in the end. The guy who stopped them from ruling over the world and brought the nation down to it‘s island size. 😂😂😂
I dunno. The only explanation I can think is that Ozai lost popularity melting the earth kingdom as it brought the reality of the fire nation's evil straight to the civilians, and also that Azula lost popularity as word spread of her actions on the day of her coronation.

I can understand Ozai and Azula not being popular anymore because they lost to Team Avatar. but no way Zuko gets support in being firelord.
I mean we see very clearly how fire nation public feels about Zuko in the episode of Ember island.
They literally cheer at him being killed by Azula in the play since he is a traitor to their people.
And history also teaches us that monarchs installed by foreign powers are never well accepted and pretty much disliked.
It‘s just a „zuko needs a happy end“ move to me.
The comics expand on this though. They aren’t loyal to Zuko at all.

Gotta defend Azula: in the beach episode, Azula followed Zuko when he ran off and she even empathized with him like a sister would. She had no ulterior motives in that moment.
She’s also not afraid to say she’s jealous of Ty Lee.
She was also comfortable enough with her friends to have a trauma sesh with them. And you can sorta see how she copes with trauma: joking about it.
When Zuko was staying up late to study Sozin’s history, Azula told him he needed to get some rest. She wasn’t an asshole or anything she was just like “hey dude it’s late you should probably get some rest”
It’s also telling that she still hangs out with her friends and her brother. She could easily be independent but she still depends on her friendships somewhat.
She even freaks out when Mai and Ty Lee “betray” her cause deep down she holds them in such high regard.
She also doesn’t go out of her way to make Zuko’s life a living hell in the Fire Nation. All she does is lie about Zuko killing Aang (a dick move). Whenever they get back home, she doesn’t fuck with him. She treats him like a normal brother.
When Zuko is freaking out about not being invited to a meeting, she gives him some solid advice “dude you’re the Prince you don’t need to be invited to things”. She didn’t lie or scheme she just helped him out.
I think a lot of Azula’s problems come from being a princess.
If you take away that level of power, she just turns into a brat and an asshole. I genuinely think that if she was born poor (and kept the same personality) she would be able to fit into normal society.

Azula was a great antagonist character. She and Hisoka (HxH) would make a lovely couple. 🤣
It’s the way I love Azula and I’m always happy when she’s on screen because it’s never a dull moment with her. And I don’t think Azula is born evil , she has no choice but to stay with Ozai after Zuko left. Yes she was always mean but look at her environment. It just proofs she’s a product of her father.

It’s been a long going thing with some people getting upset in the comments when certain episodes are hyped up, saying it creates expectations for the first time viewer. It makes sense, but I think it can actually help by making it more hype
