I mean it does sound like something a fourteen year old would write. I like her music too, but it’s really nothing unique. It’s just what every average teen writes about. Being sad about a boyfriend or a friend is just typical angst teen stuff.
I absolutely adore their older songs from their EPs. The dark/raw charm they carry isn’t something that’s very present in their more commercial albums.

You know when it’s bad again..when you listen to Amy’s music on repeat,makes me feel less alone. I HATE the deep depression,numbness and dark thoughts. It all sits in the middle of my stomach,I feel guilty tbh💔🖤💔.

A lot of their songs are darker like Even in Death (Especially the acoustic version), Field of Innocence, Exodus and so on. But yeah, the piano is beautifully haunting as is her voice :) Love their older songs so much

Honestly.... I've been depressed, contemplated suicide dozens of time... but the only thing stopping me from that is my familia. I couldn't dare do that to them. After my mom passed away 1 1/2 week after my 16th birthday I've just gotten worse... but I always knew the feeling of depression even before she left... Music continues to speak for me when no one understands or listen. I love this song! Darkly Beautiful
it was 2005. This song was on repeat and I probably anticipated this loss. On January 7th, I experienced terrible pain from the loss. I would give everything to return at least for a few hours that day and change the way of that day (and all my life ).

Very inspirational, I'm always going in and out of depression, and if I wouldn't have evanescence and see comments like this I would probably commit suicide in the future, I will not and I am going to stay strong :)
It's only thinking about your pain. It's selfish. All you're doing is giving the pain to someone else, and only thinking about yourself.

Meri Rimbaldo Thank you for this. When I was about 12 up until I was 14, I privately dealt with self-esteem issues and suicide. I felt that I was such a massive screw up. But every time that I thought of killing myself, I kept thinking about my loving friends and family. And soon I kept thinking about God. What would be his reaction? I'm 18 now and I don't deal with massive depression as I used to. I mean, there's points where I feel so down on myself for various reasons, but by the grace of God I never think of suicide as an option anymore.
Sometimes, in a second, something takes over and you are not what you used to be and the sun goes down.
It's a really meaningful and beautiful song...
She sings it for her sister Marry, who had died in the age of 3 Amy was 6 then. She had been so sad for so long. I listen to this song, because Amy has amazing voice and plays piano perfectly. ❤️

This is my ultimate favorite song from them! I so wish they would release it!
I love this song it reminds me of myself being an Empathy. Because I feel the pain and suffering of others and hurts seeing them suffer. Like children suffer and it is deeply sad to me. I can't help but cry. Why do Children suffer and why do good people suffer? I wish the world could learn to be more selfless and more caring. Pure love is a very good thing. Like love for your family or friends, but even others who feel alone. So I often feel want others to understand that I care and they are not alone.
I understand as well. When I see people in depression and suffering, I feel like I'm in the same position as they. It hurts. I could even imagine how they are doing.

Connie Marie Forrest I feel like I'm connected to people who are hurting emotionaly and physically because I've been there and I know what it feels like to not have anyone to help you or to deny the help because you are too embarrassed to say you're hurting. Pain is not a weekness. Pain is strength because of you can get through that, you come out of it stronger.
It's not the first time they've written a song pertaining to Jesus. But what I really love about songs like this is that they are ambiguous as to whom the song is referring to. That way, anyone, no matter what they believe, can relate to it.
This has nothing to do with Jesus or religion. It's a personal song Amy wrote about loss and attachments. But you can project whatever you want onto it.

I love the song because I was once like that -- holding up everyone else's burdens. But looking back on it, I see how messed up it made me, how insecure I was because I just went with whatever anyone else said, never defending myself or saying no for fear of making them unhappy. There's a point at which self-sacrifice can be beautiful, and a point at which it ruins you as a person by destroying your sense of self.
Selflessness is prided highly, partly I believe because the selfless are really easy to take advantage of. But that's just me.
There's a time and place for everything, as they say. There is a time to be selfless and be willing to help others and give up or compromise the things you do or don't do. But when you start to give yourself, your very personality, away along with it, it becomes a problem.
Don't be a people-pleaser. It's not fun.

I was tired of life, I called out to Jesus in hospital after a breakdown and now I have peace. He loves you my friend, he died on the cross for you, he is the only one who can carry the weight of your sin for you. Put your faith in him, give your life to him whilst there's still time. "Greater love has no one than this, that he lays down his life for his friends" John 15:13

I hoarded most of their music when I was in high school, as much as I could get my hands on. I still have all of them... Made me an even weirder kid but they got me through my difficult childhood. I came here to learn how to play this song on my keyboard, & listening to it brought back that beautiful dark haunting vibe I always felt listening to Evanescence back then. Makes me emotional but I can't cry, the pain is addictive... This is the music I fell in love with🖤

I'm tired of people saying evnescenc is 'dark' they're not dark at all. What they sing is more like a medathor for a story.... it only seems dark if you dont listen closely. There really is no way to describe them but amazing. Some of their songs are more upbeat some are more slow and delicate. So shut up, enjoy, and stop with the labels

I realize that the correct lyrics in the chorus are actually "I'll end all your suffering," The fact that she says "give unto me your troubles" and "place onto me your burden" She wants to heal the listener and releive them of harm. If you listen closely, you can tell her voice tricks you there. If she were enduro=ing the suffering, she would make it last longer wgich seems to be the exact opposite of what she wants

Bullying is the biggest pain and leads to committing suicide the most. A strong urge to punish ones self because they are 'not good enough', just because others say so. But they're wrong. We all have a purpose, a reason for our existence. So if you were no good, then why are you alive? We were all chosen because we mean something to someone. We all are special in our unique own way. Death in its truest form can only be recognized by the living. Without recognition you never existed did you?. Many times death is preferable over life. Death is a guarantee unlike a long life. However they are mutually exclusive, you can't have one without the other can you? It's a paradox. I have been depressed my entire life sometimes more than others. I often think about ending it, whatever it is. But something tells me not to, just the smallest spark of something. I call it God you call it what you like. I understand that death is inevitable, and that His will be done, many times I wish he would hurry with his decision. Until then I'll wait my turn.

Luna Raven Alot of people think religiously. If you've ever listened to Evanescence's song October, people will automatically tell you its her song to God. For me, as an atheist, I think it could be for anyone. But his comment above actually helped me use this song to think of a character (who is an angel of death) and I am currently writing the novel
