Having Joey Belladonna back around is definitely considered the classic lineup, but what John Bush brought to the table can NEVER be underestimated. He helped shape the band into writing more though provoking material, more complicated arrangements and let's be honest, a more deliverable vocal style. In the early days of the Big 4 and thrash, John Bush was considered the lottery if you get him to sing for your band. Of all the vocalists at the time, he stood out ahead of anyone else, still does
Belladonna is Steve Perry compared to bush rock n roll, they sound so much better w bush. I was so happy to meet him, such a humble nice guy. Almost got Metallica under his belt.
Well said and quite accurately put! John and the boys during these years were finding there way, il always consider them part of the Big 4 of Thrash Metal influences
Absolutely! Never got that much into Anthrax, but no matter how my taste in music evolved and changed over 20 years - this always remained as on of my absolute favorites. Like an old cherished friend I still see from time to time. Some songs are just more than songs.
You have to love Anthrax writing a love song their way. Its an amazing track. Its simple and heart felt. I think anyone who has been in love and has found their partner in life has felt this way.
Safe Home I've been down this road once or twice before through the open door i come falling through it there's a sign post up ahead like a watershed and it opens my eyes ways, for me to begin to be born again and knowing for the first time ways, all so differently shine for me to see the better man that I am I've been places in my head behind me worse than what's ahead and on my path just like a dream takes me from the inbetween from out of nowhere you came strong as stone and now I'll never have to be alone what it is I know you have always been my safe home I walk, I run, I burn out into you you have always been my safe home my whole world has moved on i know what i am and I'll always be your reality, is better than I could dream all my fears turn from black to white and i'd stand and fight the whole world for you faith, and destiny I never did believe my only god is love and faith, what I see in you and I can hold it true like a weight in my hand.
Nearly 6 years passed since the last time that I heard this song and after all this time, for me, this is still one of best songs from Anthrax. Everytime I listen to this song it nearly makes me cry because it's so sad and beautiful at the same time.
I've been down this road once or twice before Through the open door I come falling through it There's a sign post up ahead Like a watershed And it opens my eyes Ways, for me to begin To be born again And knowing for the first time Ways, all so differently Shine for me to see The better man that I am I've been places in my head Behind me worse than what's ahead And on my path just like a dream Takes me from the inbetween From out of nowhere you came strong as stone And now I'll never have to be alone What it is I know You have always been my safe home I walk, I run, I burn out into you You have always been my safe home My whole world has moved on I know what I am and I'll always be Your reality, is better than I could dream All my fears turn from black to white And I'd stand and fight The whole world for you Faith, and destiny I never did believe My only God is love and Faith, what I see in you And I can hold it true Like a weight in my hand I've been places in my head Behind me worse than what's ahead And on my path just like a dream Takes me from the inbetween From out of nowhere you came strong as stone And now I'll never have to be alone What it is I know You have always been my safe home I walk, I run, I burn out into you You have always been my safe home My whole world has moved on I've been places in my head (x2) I've been places in my, places in my, places in my head
anthrax got some hidden gems, its sad that they dont get all the love they deserve. persistence of time, sound of white noise and weve come for you all are underrated masterpieces.
I used to feel I had to justify why this was my favorite Anthrax tune back in the day. As the years rolled on I found more and more people seeing the sadness and beauty in this song the same as I did. It still holds up today. One of the best
Recently heard this again for the first time in about 20 years. Started singing along to some of the parts, don’t think I ever realised (or forgot) that this was an Anthrax song 🤘🏻
Its a difficult one, but I related more to John Bush being in Anthrax than Belladonna. No offence to Joey, but theres only Persistence of Time that gave me anything. Maybe State of Euphoria aswell. but not much else.
He is still with Armored Saint thank goodness. Belladonna was good when they were a thrash band but not as good with what ever you call the music Anthrax does now. Bush was the best
When John was in the band the WHOLE dynamic changed, for the better. Big FATTER grooves, waaaaaay catchier songs but still heavy and dynamic, love the gravel in his voice suits this style soooooooo well. Their writing seemed to be more on point when he was involved. For me, THIS is the Anthrax that makes me want to listen to more and more songs back to back and not it hit skip. I wish they had not fallen out, there could've been a Sound of White Noise II, i would've pre ordered that 5 years out!!!!!!!!
Lots of this was shot 2 blocks from my house near Rolling Stones records just outside of Chicago and concert footage was at the Metro.. Chicago...my safe home!
I was wondering if that was Rolling Stone Records so thanks for confirming my suspicions. As for that being the Metro, I could not tell, I was thinking it was House of Blues or the Aragon. Since I don’t remember that architecture of the Metro.
This is the song that my fiance and I are going to have our first dance to at our wedding. Wonderful love song, and it's fittingly heavy for a couple of metalheads.
I always enjoyed Anthrax with John Bush as well. That sound kept them fresh and relevant for me when I was 14. Especpecially this one. It has a very special place in my heart and memory.
Damn first time I listened to this song I was like 13 or something now I'm 28 but this song always had a spot in my heart since I heard it and it's always been in my Playlist, whether on my trusty mp3 Player, as a CD in my first car or now Spotify
When Anthrax goes "hard rock". Every time I listen to it, can't wait for the solo. This is my favorite solo by Rob while in Anthrax. It just fits the song and picks it up very well. He was underrated in the band.

I ran into this song recently. Been a fan for yearsssssss. I can't stop listening to this. I really hope they do a Bushthrax tour and this is on the setlist! What an important song!
I loved this band when John Bush was on vocals, gave us four superb studio albums (and some fantastic live shows), wish there was more though! One of the truly great metal singers & front men.
regardless of who Anthrax used to be and what they did.. you have to admit.. this song is perfectly written. What an amazing pop/rock song! Singing this drunk is so much fun
What a great song and the complete album is really beastly, a small change in its sound that was perfect and with John's voice even better. Greetings from Venezuela.
Just heard this on the radio on my way to university, today. The guy putting the request in dedicated the song to Covid, haha. Figured I had to come back here and fully savor the song and how beautiful it is. Bush may not have been with the band for an incredibly long amount of time, but his era of Anthrax sure made some great stuff.
If I remember correctly how they got Keanu Reeves was Scott used to write a blog on the bands website. And he said how this song was gonna be the lead song off WCFYA. He said it would be awesome to get Keanu Reeves to do it because it was right about the time the Matrix Reloaded was going to come out. Then all of a sudden he did it for them. I guess they only were able to film him for like thirty minutes or so, but he did it because he liked the fact that they wanted him in it. I could be wrong but he did it for free too. Cool guy that Keanu. This song rules, by the way!
Niko S I read that Anthrax were at some fancy party with loads of Hollywood actors and a lot of them said they would appear in the music video. Then when the day came, only Keanu showed up.
@themetalwall2 the vocalist from this video is John Bush, he officially left the band in 2005, and toured a few times from 2009 to 2010. the current vocalist of Anthrax is Joey Belladonna, which was the vocalist for Anthrax in mid 80's
I miss John Bush with Anthrax. I still love Joey, but J. Bush era was awesome! I’m a Live Sound Engineer and I’ve worked with John Bush at The Van Buren (PHX AZ) for the Metal Allegiance Tour. He was very kind, patient and an absolute pleasure to work with. That was the greatest day for me being a HUGE JB fan. I never told him I was his biggest fan, I hope he reads this. I also ran sound for Joey Belladonna solo tour stop at Martini Ranch Scottsdale.
It's about 25 years that Anthrax amaze me. Still kickin' hard. Always my favorite rock band. Great song, great riff, avalanche of feeling and energy. Anthrax rule!!!

Here is a bit of trivia about the video. It was filmed at Rolling Stones Records in Norridge, IL which is right across the street from Chicago. The construction in the background is the H.I.P. (Halrem and Irving Park) Mall extension. Alos Keanu running down Forest Preserve Dr. which is kitty corner to the store! Goolge it, you can see for your. I was so proud to see chicago in a video around a place I grew up in! Love Anthrax 4 Ever!
first time i heard this i could take it or leave it really but over time.. MY GOD WHAT A SONG! its grown on me like a sweet set of balls. cant wait for their new album and for sonisphere.. BRING IT ANTHRAX!
Dimebag Darrell Abbott also played lead guitar throughout a few songs on the album this is featured on. Just passing on a little knowledge. It was also the last album to feature John Bush on lead vocals & Rob Caggiano on lead guitar as of this day of July 23, 2013.
this is such a great song!! great band!! they have got to have John Bush on permanent vocals again. seeing them at sonisphere blew me away!! BRING BACK JOHN BUSH!!

We all know the best one is Neil Turbin anyways
John Bush is the Anthrax I loved.
Well said. That Bush era was so memorable. Joey is authentic Anthrax...... unlike scab kiss bush era anthrax isn't scab-thrax
John Bush era was the best Anthrax to me 🤘🏻
By far.
This whole album is a masterpiece. Plus all the Dime solos.
This song is definetly one of the best in Anthrax songs.
Kolbapuurija the best ever
In the john bush era. Yes
not only, this song is definetly one of the Anthrax songs.

Jamie Virginiak bullshit
XD brilliant
So did Scott Ian....after they replaced Bush, Scott asked John to sing it at Scott's wedding.
Thats grest

Joey and John are two of the best vocalists of all time there’s no need to argue who is better. We can all agree Anthrax is amazing.
When john Bush left the band so did I... john has so much talent and the album he sang on we've come for you all means so much to me.
HEDWIG ETCETERA I relate to more of John bushs stuff tbh not a knock on belladonna however
HEDWIG ETCETERA John is good live. But his albums with the band weren't so good.
Its a difficult one, but I related more to John Bush being in Anthrax than Belladonna. No offence to Joey, but theres only Persistence of Time that gave me anything. Maybe State of Euphoria aswell. but not much else.

(Halrem and Irving Park) Mall extension. Alos Keanu running down Forest Preserve Dr. which is kitty corner to the store! Goolge it, you can see for your. I was so proud to see chicago in a video around a place I grew up in! Love Anthrax 4 Ever!
I can't do Anthrax without John Bush anymore.
This is the best acting Keanu has ever done!!
first time i heard this i could take it or leave it really but over time..
Never before have seen this actor, later can say only, one of the best
