The Rolls isn't broken that's just a feature to prevent the chauffeur from disturbing his passengers with poor driving. Like its horsepower rating, the Rolls determines 20 mph to be adequate.
Despite of lack of nowdays technology and engine capacity than those two, but Toyota Century still can kick their ass for the first one to two seconds in the beginning of the race 😂. As I know Toyota Century not focus on performance, but on smoothness and ultra comfort..because this car was made for the royal family of the Japanese Emperor (the 1st and 2nd Gen Toyota Century). I find it admirable that the Century was released in 1997 and did not change anything to its design until 2017. But over the years, it seems that styling and luxurious materials have gotten a far higher priority. In the real world, Rolls Royce reliability after a few years on the road is absolutely horrific.

In 2004, the maximum engine horsepower was regulated by law in Japan to 280. Incidentally, the current engine has 431 hp. And even that is not far behind the other two.
That's because that "law" is just a Gentlemen's Agreement between all Japanese manufacturers. They just said to the public it all has the same number of horsepower even though they actually made more if they put in on the dyno. Hell, there's even another Gentlemen's Agreement on the small Kei car world (64hp) even though some of them does produce a little bit more than that.

そのセンチュリーは2代目だから280ps(276hp)だけど、2018年から販売をし始めた3代目センチュリーはハイブリッドのみで最大431ps(425hp)出るから、結果は多少変わってくると思う。
This is the race is what we needed.
Toyota Century having a NA V12 is to keep the ride "elegant" at all times
Id like to see under the hood. How well built are those deep sensitive parts no one wants to think about
It's amazing how the rolls still looks so modern
Cars look modern based on the design. For instance a Mercedes w124 doesn't look as outdated when it is sitting next to other cars of the same era with a 20 year newer car is next to them.
It is the only and one V12 powered Japanese Car. And unfortunately, the 3rd Gen Toyota Century has stop using V12 engine, instead of V8 Hybrid engine. And anyway the 2nd gen Toyota Century is also used in Netflix's Umbrella Academy as their official transport car in that movie.
Toyota Century stands out in a league of it's own! 🤩
I could imagine a new Top Gear trio with these two dudes plus Matt Watson😍 That would be a reborn
You guys should consider doing more of these "silly" drag races. Top-tier performance demons racing is one thing, but you miss a whole lot of potential for hilarious quirky nonsense like in this video.
I'd like to see a cheapo drag race. What's faster a Chevy Aveo or a Toyota Yaris?
I fenpl
Honestly that Century is beyond amazing
I LOVE the luxurious plush materials of the seats in the Century. That's true comfort, not the vulgar sticky terrible leather that European manufacturers deem luxurious simply because it costs more.
James, you've made the right choice, reason we buy a used limo is reliability and most importantly cost of ownership..
You should have another drag race. How long it takes to go through each car's maintenance record. 🤣 Quietest drag race ever.
There would be a lot of screaming and cursing lol
@@lominero5 like golf, add up the maintenance costs and who has the lowest score wins. I just have a lot more interest in the Toyota than the Rolls or Maybach. I would love to have a JDM car but having to badge into the parking garage becomes an issue.
@huge asian x petite white and I dou t you can go on the internet withough being a giant douche canoe
Century can keep working when
half of cylinders has trouble. Change fromV12 to V6!
@@ガチンコフライトクラブ wow that's amazing!
It’s so cool watching the way the Maybach flies away with the camera inside james’s Century.
They need to use Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit without Mybach for real test
Bro what 🤨😆
The Rolls-Royce went into BMW mode.
😂😂😂💯
Lmao yeah
Turns out the apple doesnt fall far from the tree ehh?
BMW Mode do you mean that it has to go directly to the workshop?
@@antreaskonstantinou8585 what does Apple have to do with this They didn't have a car in the race 😁
Maybach lasting longer than time! It's so classic, so beautiful!
That was the most useless but interesting drag race I've ever seen. Thanks for that
That Century is the bargain of the ce....yeah. Also: it's sooooo gorgeous!!!!
2:02 Clearly, 10 skillful craftsmen spent over 30 days shaping the rare and exquisite wood on that steering wheel.
And then some inconsiderate previous owner destroyed it. What kind of person treats their car that way?
There's a saying, Handmade in Britain means the car has problems from the factory
Century is one of my dream cars.
Dude, the Century held up. I’m surprised and have enforced my reason to buy one!
That century has the same HP as a 3.5L 2013 V6 Honda Accord
@@ferdinandaddo9544 it just need a tune and exhaust, and itll dust that accord by a mile even if the accord has the same tune and exhaust, ever heard the v12 supra by top secret?
@@ferdinandaddo9544 As much as I love the Honda J35Y1 engine and trust its capabilities, it can NOT compete against the headroom of the 1GZ-FE V12, because of its sheer displacement and cylinder count. You can tune the 1GZ-FE to the moon and back and it will smoke most fast cars out there without breaking. That J35Y1 will lose a good bit of its reliability on the other hand if you push it too far, because it is already being pushed quite a bit.
Almost had one for $2k once, but California emissions laws would have made it cost $15k to import. Bloody communism, I tell ya.
@@SaintNyx damn, that sucks
そもそもロールスロイスとマイバッハはアウトバーンを視野に入れて作っているが、センチュリーは日本の狭い道路と、ほとんどの場合100キロを超えることのでき無い高速道路などの道路事情を考えて作られている事からこの結果は当然
Whenever I see the interior of that Century I'm transported to videos of Japan 😅💕 And in that sense that is like the most JDM car ever, and even though the other cars are "More Desriable" I think I am falling in love with the Century just from seeing your videos! ❤️
I've seen people swap in that engine from the century with individual throttle bodies and it is glorious
5:28 Thomas: "Foot down!"
Rolls Royce: "If You Don't Remember, I'm an Old BMW Sir"
So funny how that 'brung' chime is on everything from old Rolls to new Supras..haha
I find it admirable that the Century was released in 1997 and did not change anything to its design until 2017. In 1997 it still fell under the gentleman's agreement so power was lower than competitors and capped at a theoretical 276hp. While the Rolls and Maybach are both a product of the innovations of past 2000 and were not restricted by an agreement and thus have powerplants with way more power, but also way more weight. I'd love to own a Century one day.
I'm a bit disappointed we didn't hear anything from Carson I suppose he was so far ahead in the race he had no time for the little people.
He's a mute, or at least plays one on video
Yes! Battle of the Barges ‘22
Never really watch the drag race videos but I'll gladly watch this one lol
Ahhhhh, that familiar *BMW chime* - Thanks BMW for your comforting tones...
I was surprised to see not one, but TWO Toyota Centuries driven in the third season of Umbrella Academy!!
Given the only other car in the show is an old Rolls, I'm guessing someone at the production team is a car nut
That Century though! 😍😍 That's Toyota engineering perfection for ya!!
Hit me not up!!!!
This channel is so fun to watch.
The bantering in this video is top notch
😁 I was early today. Always love ur reviews 😊intros is just thoughtful
Didn’t expect to see a Rolls Canardly: Rolls down hills but cannardly get up them 😂
Great drag race just like always !!
Toyota Century looks amazing, i love that car, maybe some day i'll buy one 😍
Only one? xD My dream are three vehicles. Now I have Toyota Camry 2006-2007, and then I want have the Honda Odyssey Absolute and Ford Victoria Crown!!!
somehow, i loved even more that century.
After seeing that quality of the Phantom, I'm second guessing buying one. For that price and it to be falling apart no thanks. Also I can't even afford a 04 Civic
This was easily the best way to start my Sunday! Thank you throttle house
What corner of what planet of what galaxy have I been living on?
This is my first introduction to your great channel - I need to stay in more...
Subscribed on humour content alone...alright - guilt alone, really.
Rolls Royce was created to simply be the best at everything luxury...and in the early days of the automobile, quality - including bullet proof reliability and long term durability - was core to the company's DNA. But over the years, it seems that styling and luxurious materials have gotten a far higher priority. In the real world, Rolls Royce reliability after a few years on the road is absolutely horrific.
It's an almost entirely hand-built British luxury car what do you expect lol
@@ikhoonyejelem2967 I expect a LOT more for $400K+++.
Blah blah blah. This is just a BMW 7 Series underneath, and we all know they’ve never been reliable.
@@hiratiomasterson4009 well the people who can actually buy this new don't care
@@ajlee6933 this is wrong
Of all the cars I’ve seen on the channel, the century is still one of the coolest yet.
The century did really well for having half the power
Lol the thumbnail with James doing the old high school football team-photo trick of pushing your biceps out when your arms are crossed to look more jacked 😂 respect.
Wow, never been so early to one of your videos 😎
guys this has been your funniest video, I Loved it. I literally lol'ed multiple times and my wife had to check that I was OK.
Elegant race indeed!
I would've loved to see a 100-0 emergency stop from these 3 😂
I have a Century and I don't want to 😅 Brakes are terrible behind those tiny 16".
You watch too much CARWOW my friend🤣🤣🤣
If the rolls could even make it to 100
The Maybach will absolutely dominate, huge 6 piston calipers up front and there are 2 brake calipers per front wheel!!! The Germans knew that something in the 5k pound Wright range with 600hp needed sheer stopping power!
@@12pagani Mmmmmmm... you should'nt think that most of the employees at Mercedes Benz are Germans. (50% of all people in Germany are immigrants or they are childrens from immigrants.) But you can be sure that cars Made in Japan are produced by Japanese!
I owned new Holden’s here in Australia all my life and in 2019 I purchased a new Toyota V6 Camry SL .This car is just the best car I have owned superbly built and the V6 so smooth it is a credit to Toyota .The salesman who used to sell me the General Motors Holden cars lives near me ,I said to him I only have one regret with the Toyota and that is I didn’t change to Toyota many years before 2019 .
I have to give it up again to James what a special and unique car! Great choice!
Reminds me of racing my friend who had a 1972 Gran Prix with a 454, while I had a 1972 Cutlass with a 350-rocket. Off the line I blew him away, right up until you got to bout 45mph, where that 454 finally kicked in and would take off. If you don't know, a Grand Prix of that year was a giant coupe, while the Cutlass of that year was a midsized coupe.
455
@@freespeech9590 oh right, been a while.
@@rodmunch69
I always remember 454 is the Chevy.
72 is a good year for general motors.
I had a 72 Malibu 350
@@freespeech9590 in high school, just by chance, me and all my friends had '72s, in '92. I had a '72 Cutlass w/ 350, one friend had a '72 Chevelle w/ 350, another had the '72 Gran Prix w/ 455, and another had a '72 Beetle - he was a loser and no one really like him and his pathetic car. The other three of us would race all the time, in particular my friend with the Chevelle. Everywhere we went was a Dukes of Hazard episode as we lived in a rural area with a lot of dirt roads. It's amazing how much the early 90s, pre-internet, were still like the 70s and 80s.
....and the interior falling apart is a Rolls-Royce exclusive..... They all do it...
If you're a dirty pig who treats your car badly, then its gonna fall apart no matter what brand it is. That Rolls (possibly many) previous owners were more than likely pigs.
@@Vivaldi111 certainly that has an effect but I've seen half a dozen of them and there are things that just crack and break even if they're babied. That's an English car for you, just like it went into limp mode, there's no excuse for that except poor engineering. They are wonderful to drive, like nothing else, but they do fall apart..
Akio Toyoda's new Century GRMN to participate.
James will always be ahead by a century, cast in a golden light. 😎
Best video on RUclips everrrrr ❤❤
Great video with tons of jokes and high jinks from these two. I will say this, the Toyota Century looks nice on the outside. While those cars look like they are falling apart on the inside. I wish they let Carsten talk about the Maybach. As a sub-brand under the S-class, I'm more interested in that one!
I like it when people talk about Mercedes product. It watched the video because a Maybach was involved.
Century is so cool. When the Rolls is lovely, its British, when it fails, it's German.
