this is how I roll/ eco-dyeing paper

- This is my way how I do eco-dyeing since I dont have any options on larger scale to keep papers flat. I use a pot which I bought for 50cents at a flea market for melting candle wax leftovers to make new candles. I saw someone else already using this idea, I got inspired. Papers come bit wrinkled even after ironing but that just adds to their uniqueness :) I dont use any alum (cant even get it in my country), no rusty objects, only using old teas ( I mostly use tea to break the smell of cooked leaves, preferably do this in ventilated space). I use random papers I have around, nothing specific.

Finally! An eco dye process that isn’t intimidating! Thank you for sharing!
Fantastic, this is by far the most practical procedure of eco paper dyeing , I’ve come across for those of us with limited space. Thank you for sharing this.
Thank you for sharing your process. Your papers came out so beautiful!
Now, this is eco dye; paper, tea, leaves, onions in water! They came out beautifully!!! I love the black tea ones the most... I can’t wait to try 🥰
The corks are a terrific idea!
Torn, wrinkled paper = shabby chic!
These turned out AB-FAB!!!!
Blessings from Texas 🤠
Thank you, Sova! I thought I couldn't do this because other videos say you must boil for three hours! You only boil for 30 minutes, and that is reasonable. I will try it!
Beautiful papers.
I have only just found your video and think that the results you achieved are beautiful. So many lovely prints from such a simple technique. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Rooibos tea is a red bush tea from S-Africa. I like wrinkles on the pages it will add some texture to your beautiful paper. TFS
Thank you for this video. I also have a small space and a limited budget. I was very impressed that you can actually boil the paper in the liquid. I have only steamed and the results were pretty but subtle. I will try the boiling next time! Beautiful work Sova.
thank you Helen! and good luck with your experimenting
Thank you! Looks beautiful and easy. Can't wait to try it out 🍁🍂
Thanks for sharing. Some of the paper prints came out soooooo beautiful. ♥
Such beautiful pages! Thank you for sharing your process.💙
Wonderful! I must say, the timing could not be any better! I recently thought what to do with a packet of expired, old tea!! The video is inspiring! Thank you for sharing!
What a great way to tie papers with leaves and I too am limited in space too and this will make it easier, Thank you
Paper turned out beautiful.
Great overview of your process and some of the lovely possibilities that can be achieved. 😎 Kudos!
Beautiful!! Keep it up! Limitations bring out the best of innovations!
Your process is fantastic. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful papers! I learned so much from this video. Cork roll is a fabulous idea. Thanks for sharing.
I love the wrinkles, the prints and embossing from the leaves.
Me, too...& no big deal if it tears bc tears look beautiful in collage.
Love this, thank you for sharing. Have used your method since seeing this and love it. Very flexible, can experiment with papers and book pages, botanicals, teas....thank you!
The works that you made on all these papers were absolutely beautiful. The colour combinations you made were all stunning. There are so many things you could do with these papers. Thank you for sharing the tips and techniques you have learned through your own experimentation. I really love your work. 🙂
Absolutely fabulous, what a great idea, and they all look really good x I like the ginger lemon tea ones best x thank you so much and much love from the UK xx
Great prints! Thank you for sharing your way of doing this. Can’t wait to try!
Fabulous! I'm thinking of trying this with the slow-cooker function on my Instant Pot. There's no boiling that way, so less agitation of the papers.
that is an interesting idea. have you tested it yet?
v pretty!must say how wonderful. that you get these results esp as u are not using any alum or rusty objects or vinegar!!I will def try.out this method ..using only tea ....thk u for sharing
you are welcome. It is about experimenting with different plants or leaves from different trees, and see which one will print and which wont. and as i mentioned, if no print that at least i have tea dyed paper ;)
This is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing. Best regards to you from South Africa 🇿🇦 💫 and yes, it is exactly as you said … Rooibos tea, emphasis on the R, grown in South Africa originally 😃
Wonderful prints. Thanks for sharing🥰
Fantastic! Can't wait to try it, Thanks for the inspiration!
Simply stunning
Really exquisite...thanks
So beautiful and so simple... thanks!
Ohhh they turned out so beautiful 😊💚
I LOVE this project. Thank you. New subscriber. 😁💜🥰
Thanks and thanks for subbing!
Great job on the eco-dyeing. I've seen other dyers fold their papers and I like this way better than laying papers flat. Great video, thanks for sharing.
thank you :)
Thank you for sharing. I love your colors and your explanations.
Great ideas!!
Try heating the leftover water and "tea dye" paper. Or bottle it and use it later or share with a friend?
that is a good idea, thank you. Many times though I pour it away fast due to fact that those cooked leaves and plants create often a rather strong odor and since I use my kitchen in the house which is directly connected to my living room, everyone gets headache from the strong smell. So i use tea to soften the smell but it doesnt always work. So i try to get rid of that liquid fast. But if the weather is nice I can definitely use the rest for tea dyeing outside
They look gorgeous Sova . I have to try this next year as all the leaves are gone outside and winter is coming in. Thanks for the tutorial. Hugs xxxSonja
You cab get leaves at the grocery stores. Also at garden centers that sell winter plants. There are leaves of some sort all year long !!
thank you. Have fun with it!
Gorgeous!!
Muy hermoso ♥️ me fascinoooo!!!! 🌹👍💐

you are welcome!
Thank you! 🌸
Love this Mirina !! What will you make with them.? Can't wait to see !!!
thank you. I am currently working on christmas journal and using the papers in it as I am out of coffee dyed paper but I have plenty of eco-dyed ones
Your papers are gorgeous thxs for sharing ... how are you planning to use them?
I used them in many journals as pages to write on
very beautiful, have you ever used recycled paper material to look more natural, unique
what do you mean by used recycled paper? do you mean hand made paper from old newspapers for example?
@@madebysova I mean it can be from used newspapers or other paper that is recycled, using waste paper, then the recycled paper is given leaves and rolled up like in the video, the unique texture of recycled paper makes recycled paper in various ways, there are techniques for making it thinner too the fiber is strong so that when rolled it is not easy to tear
@@Ambardinst good idea, I"ll try
🌹🌹🌹
Can you show some examples of how you used these papers??
شكرآ 🙏🏻🌹
These are wonderful. Do you only scan them or do you also use the originals?
Thank you. I do use the originals. Working on a journal now using these papers. And I want to keep making and using the originals. I will use scans once I get to the point that I am not able to make more or I get into some point that I run out and urgently need more
I love these can I ask how long you boil your papers for
i boil them between 30 mins to 45mins, it is more simmering, not really boiling
can I use a ordinery copy paper. How log should be cookig? I hace wery exspensive woter color papars but thet neads some woden tiles and wery beag pots... Can I use copy papers thet wos a question
yes, you can use ordinary copy paper, i use it too. i usually cook it for 30 mins. you can adjust the time yourself. try for 15mins. I am planning to try to shorten the cooking time too
New subscriber!
I've always wanted to try eco dying. I heard if you add allum powder or rusty nails it helps
i cant get allum in my country but found out that i could order it from amazon but I like my results so far so I dont feel I need to push further yet. I tried rusty items, I have many of them but it didnt change anything, at least I didnt notice any difference so I dont add them anymore
What if we used the hair dryer for drying them?
that could/ should work. i have never tried it though. My hairdryer blows so strong that it is blowing my mind away
Wooowww😍
What will you do with these dyed papers.?
i use them in journals, very good for autumn or nature themed journals
Is it okay for a normal paper? Thank you.
sorry for late reply, I was most of the year sick or in hospital. I used different types of papers as you could see in the video, from notebook paper to printing paper. So I think that normal paper should work too. You just need to keep testing
💕💕💕💕💕😊😊😊
