  • Jamal Murray notched 26.5 points per game on 50.5/45.3/89.7 shooting splits while also averaging 4.8 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game throughout these playoffs with a usage rate in the 82nd percentile (according to Cleaning the Glass). Murray’s 3 game run of 50-42-50 in the first round marked the first time a player had scored THREE straight 40 point games in a series since Michael Jordan did it in 1993 - Jamal Murray was born in 1997.
Murray and Donovan Mitchell joined Michael Jordan and Allen Iverson as the ONLY other players in the history of the league to have MULTIPLE 50 point games in a single playoff series.
If you combine games 4 and 5 against Utah in the first round, Jamal tallied 92 points on 35-57 shooting (13-23 from three) with 19 rebounds and 15 assists and most importantly ZERO turnovers.
The Canadian sensation also had FOUR 40 point playoff games in this postseason alone. His fourth - in a GAME 7 no less, made him the second youngest player in NBA history to score 40 points in a game 7. The youngest was LeBron James.
There’s not much more to say besides that Murray’s shot making was mesmerizing. He had one of the more memorable and magical playoff runs of recent memory.
This is a video on his many fantastic finishes throughout the Nuggets thrill ride of a postseason (and a pair of clips from the seeding games - but that’s it). It starts with the brilliance of his balance, inspired by Bruce Lee, the Blue Arrow has a background in martial arts. The footwork that is the very foundation of his game also stems from the studies the kid from Kitchener had in Kung Fu. Jamal is surprisingly strong despite his slight frame and that allows him to choose whether he will finish with force or finesse when he flusters defenders with his forays to the rim.
Again, this video is purely about his finishing - so expect more to come.

Most entertaining player in the playoffs and one of the most entertaining playoff runs in along time... made about 4 or 5 highlight shots or plays every single game

I hope so but it’s hard to say for sure with steph and klay coming back plus the nuggets being so deep. It might be unlikely but MPJ or Bol Bol could take a huge step next year and in turn take away from Murray’s stats but I’d love to see him play consistently through the season and be an all star like you said

I wanna see it but there are really only 6-7 guards per roster, maybe 8-9 if we stretch out some positions.
Harden - Luka - Steph are locks barring injury.
      Dame made All-NBA this year.
So that's asking a lot for him to set himself apart from:
Klay Thompson, Donovan Mitchell (who has more of the offensive load than Gobert unlike Murray with Jokic), Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul, Devin Booker, etc.

He probably got the best hesi in the game. Where y'all rank him among all the guards in the league next season? Is he a top 15 player?

I’m a nuggets fan and still think y’all are buggin... I’d have to think more about it but as of now, saying top 5pg and top 15 in the league seems like recency bias

Let's talk about this - I'm in for the debate bec I think if you can do it in the pressure of the playoffs, you can def do this during the season (but doing it during the season doesn't necessarily mean you can do it for the playoffs) - but the question is, do they play through him as much as they did when teams took Jokic away? Will he be the focal point of opposing gameplans?
That being said: there's 4 true GUARDS (you didn't say PGs) that I think are for sure better than Jamal: Steph - Dame - Harden - Doncic.
After that, it's up for debate I think. Lowry and CP are getting up there. I really don't know what to do with Russ or even Ben Simmons, so I think it's a preference thing.
I'm not counting big wings like Tatum-Butler-PG-Middleton bec they are different.
Kyrie and Oladipo and Wall are guys who have made All-NBA teams before and maybe could but are coming back from injuries.
Then you have guys that their teams will play through for sure: Devin Booker, Donovan Mitchell, Bradley Beal, Trae Young -> the downside for Jamal in terms of awards and stuff is that I think, at worst, Jokic is a top 10 player.
What's crazy here is that De'Aaron Fox, Ja Morant, CJ McCollum, SGA, them dudes are great but didn't get a full mention yet.

@@EvinGualberto I agree with the doing IT in the playoffs holds more weight than guys who put up 'empty stats ' in losing teams in the regular season. My only skeptic is: did the bubble inflate jamal stats because he was like an inefficient shooter in the reg season & now he shot 50.45,89 in the playoffs.
He probably won't be able to sustain his playoff shooting accuracy over a larger sample size but if he can even hit his pull up 3's @ like 40% on a larger sample then we might me discussing how high his ceiling is.
