Who’s family man?
@@Mugiwara0021 got damn i’m dead😂😂😂💀
@@Mugiwara0021 now I want that to happen 😂
It’s funny how after all this time it felt like Jon was on the show longer than it feels. It just shows the impression he left on me and others. Phenomenon actor.
So true man, well said
fr
Just shows how great he is at his job. He wasn't on for that long, but that short stint made his career explode into so many other great roles.
He left a lasting impression, I still remember watching Shane's death for the first time. It was a huge TV moment at the time, everyone was talking about it
Shane should have not been killed off tbh. That was a huge mistake. They altered the original story in other major ways, coulda done it with Shane as well.
Imagine how badass the show would have stayed had Frank Darabont never left.
He didn't just "leave" the network forced him out for no good reason other than corporate greed
@@haidenjennings9439 right cuz the way frank wanted to continue the show would have required a larger budget and AMC didn't wanna put up the money.
It would’ve been different I don’t think as good
@@layersofjade5197 when did he stop writing?
It would’ve been worse. Have you watched he first season? It’s garbage when put next to the rest of the show. And that includes the new seasons.
John so intense 😂 the look in his eye when Norman is talking. Like he’s reliving those days as he speaks
He spent his past life as hard-core drinker and drug addict when he does this it's the long term side effects of those addiction
jon*
@@moesworld505 interesting, how does addiction affect how someone look? im curious cuz never heard of it that way
@@cactuschris762 maybe it changes how they talk from habits
@@cactuschris762 dude doesn’t know what he’s talking about, jon bernthal is just a very intense “in ur face” typa guy, he makes a lot of eye contact when having a good conversation and he’s actually a very emotional dude in a good way lol he’d still beat the shit out of the average joe not hating on him.
TWD’s casting is my favorite of all time
Sons of anarchy is really good too
You alright boah
Roger Clark is great for voicing some character whose name escapes me

Andrew Lincoln set the tone. It's because of his kindness and generosity that they all shined and got along so well. Big respect to the one and only, Andrew Lincoln. Never forget about his role when discussing the "depth of the relationships."
Ya know I’ve heard quite a few cast members over the years say that very thing. He definitely set the example.
Yes agreed but everyone Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Jon Bernthal, Sarah Wayne Callies, Melissa McBride, everyone seemed really chill. Was a good main cast all around.
Agreed! 1000%
You weren’t even there and your telling him to never forget his own experience
A leader in the show and on set to the cast. Sounds about right.
Season 2 of the Walking Dead is my all-time favorite thing to watch. It'll never get old to me I loved everything about the first 5 seasons of The Walking Dead
i just couldn’t keep the same interest when there’s only a handful of the original cast left. i get they had a commitment to the comic series, but that was ultimately the shows downfall. you can’t kill every fan favorite character off and expect people to not say “this is the dumbest shit ive ever seen” and stop watching. killing shane was the single dumbest thing in the history of walking dead. shane being THE main character at the same level as rick was was so perfect. shane was such a badass character and jon bernthal really brought something to that show that can’t be replicated. him and ricks relationship was so entertaining and they definitely messed up killing that level magnitude of a character that early.
they could’ve at least left the door open incase they had a future storyline for his return. like they shouldn’t have shown shane turn into a walker and then get shot. rick should have stabbed him and walked away assuming he’s dead but not confirming it and that’s the last we see of shane until he secretly survived and kills rick years later 😂
Make me cry
@i don’t like you what's gonna surprise you is that shane was supposed to die earlier according to the comics, but I definitely think he should have lasted much longer.
Just like game of thrones....after catching lightning in a bottle, they bring in corporate suits to ruin it after about 5 seasons
@@GotchYoAss Comics are far better than the show for a reason. If anything, they should’ve followed them more.
Just realized most of the cast was near or over 40 when they started the show why I liked it dedicated seasoned actors who wanted to just make something bigger than the group
They probably had a sense of urgency that most younger actors don’t have.
Many were in their 30s and 40s yes, Sophia and Carl being the exceptions.
john looks like he's gonna snap but he's simply listening

I hope to find a friend like Jon one day, you can tell he is really genuine no BS, gotta appreciate that.
Why not try to BE a friend like that?
First and foremost I learned you should try to BE that friend you want. You'll attract the right people if you decide to genuinely be like that 🙏
You’ll enjoy his episode on the Joe rogan experience recently
jon is shane irl
Highly agree with what you and Sarah said about Frank Darabont. I wish we’d gotten to see 11 seasons of his writing
Yikes, I don’t know about that. He’s good, but TWD needed a shift in horror tone after season 1, and a bit of 2/3.
Frank would have never let it go past season 5 or 6. Any show that goes longer always outlives it’s quality.
@@pdarn27 die
I remember hearing Andrew Lincoln would show up to set and encourage his cast mates during scenes that he was not a part in just because he supported them that much.
Did that support stop after a certain point?
rick became ruthless in real life 💀
Perhaps it stopped but keep in mind how different the circumstances became. At first it was a AMC show NOBODY really expected to get to the scale it did vs once it was one of the biggest hit show of the 2010's.
@@shanouboubou so you’re saying the popularity ruined the show?
I personally stopped watching it the season that they killed off Andrew Lincoln’s character. But I can say I felt the show was declining after the season finale of the prison (where Hershell was beheaded). There were still good moments afterwards of course.
@@116nerd he’s not dead and he was in the finale
@@isayweirdshityk dang well that’s a spoiler I could’ve done without. 😆
Jon’s character as Shane, even after being there for only 2 seasons had such an impact on the show. His death still lingers and resonates throughout the entire rest of the series. Along with the Governors. Shanes death portrayed how much little time it can take to change someone’s perspective of life and how it’s lived or viewed upon in a world where laws and rules and regulations no longer
apply or exist when things go under and turn into an undead wild west.
Loved your comment and your perspective
Darabont will always be the unsung martyr of this show. He's the one that brought all these people together and laid the foundation for TWD
His work was impeccable and woke idi*ts drove him off. What a shame. TWD could have been so much more with him on it. He was a no bull*it true filmmaker!
@@klipser66 Exactly. Frank was the reason it was so great. Tha actors all respected him& they were a tight unit. I still to this day rewatch seasons 1-3. But It doesn't have the same feel to it anymore. After Frank It's like they just added characters & there's no actual close connection to them. So no one really cares about them. It's forced. I couldn't/ can't stand Sadiq's character. Couldn't wait for him to be off the show. He was the opposite of charismatic & they tried making - forcing him to have this important role & be one of the main characters - it wasn't happening. So annoying they Rosita have a baby w him too. I digress - it's frustrating thinking how the entire series could have been as amazing as the first few seasons if they would have kept Frank Durbont. If u haven't already u should check out the webisodes. They're not the best acting ever but pretty cool how they all tie in with the first episodes. For instance how when Rick first gets to the Atlanta in the city in the tank & the walker that's in the tank with him - Frank had planned on doing a whole mini series thing of how that walker - before he was a walker got there. But the webisodes all tie in. 👍🏼
@@WarmongerYT frank wasn’t show runner for season 3. That was Glen Mazzara
The story and the writing was fresh and modern. When I think about those early seasons it was written like a new archetype of a real world scenario.
Well ssid
It was Frank! That’s what we all came for. Most people didn’t know about the comic books. It started with “Darabont is doing a zombie show on TV! This is gonna be good!” And it sure the heck was!
Thankfully they lost millions after they fired Frank for no reason. They deserved it.
I still re watch season 1-2, it came out at a very important time in my life (14) and it was the only thing in my life at that time that could turn my brain of real life and get put into a different world.
Seasons 1-5 was the shows peak of enormous popularity . Went downhill after that

people are saying the way Jon is looking at Norman is weird/intense. Jon is listening to Reedus and reliving all of those moments they and the rest of the cast spent together. He’s feeling emotional, you can see it in his eyes
It's interesting how the actors also felt like the Darabont era was the sould of the show, just like us. It must have been something special.
I love TWD but the first 2 seasons are BY FAR my absolute FAVORITE not just of the show, of any show, ever! I still put it on and watch it! Thank you both for all of your hard work and dedication!!! ❤
First Atlanta, then the CDC. The farm, The Prison. Then Woodbury & The Governor.. Next, Terminus. After that, Alexandria.. Then Neegan.... Like When Does It End?!
And season 3 the prison is iconic
If I could’ve been a cast member of any show it’d be TWD. The bond and friendship those guys had
The incredible chemistry between Jon and Andy while the bantered about their high school loves? Absolutely brilliant! I started a rewatch from S1 ep 1 and it is magical. Norman and Jon and Norman and Andy -all of you were incredible together. I haven’t seen this in any other show. Thanks for the great times!
Because of Frank Darabont with the cast he choose and the effort and passion he put to it. It's a shame AMC did him dirty.
He said it himself. Frank Fucking Darabont
Interesting to basically hear Norman say the show isn’t the same. He’s totally right and the fans are with him. He’s right it’s not the same. We, the audience felt the camaraderie
As a man I understood Shane. He was a real true friend to Rick. He fell in love with Lori with the intent of looking out for his best friends family but his heart wouldn't let him let go. 😔
What the heart wants is what your true intentions are .
i loved shane, but there's no excuse for forcing yourself on someone.
Mf tried to r*pe Lori and people still don't see he's genuinely a scumbag...
Friend? We barely see them get along
@@jamesjoe1690 well before the undead they were best friends but Rick being gone and Shane growing closer to Lori and Carl the man wanted his woman and Carl to be with him because he loved them it’s understandable that they would divide over such a thing as family since everybody believed Rick was gone and all Shane and Lori had was eachother
Every single one of the cast members from like the first 3 seasons did a crazy good job you felt like you were there with them
Except for Andrea I hated when I felt like I was with her
First Atlanta, then the CDC. The farm, The Prison. Then Woodbury & The Governor.. Next, Terminus. After that, Alexandria.. Then Neegan.... Like When Does It End?!
Jon Bernthal's rubbing of his head should have won him an Oscar
He took those words to heart man look at his eyes his soft reaction hit him hard
I’ve always heard them all talk about how close the cast was/is and it feels genuine when they say it. I’d imagine being in a small Georgia town away from family and friends would definitely bring you close to the ones you work with. It’s the only show I’ve ever heard of them doing a “death dinner” and they did that tradition from the beginning all the way to the very end…good people❤
I watched The Walking Dead because of Jon. He was in it for short period of time BUT the impression he left..💥👌🏻💯 Jon is truly MIND-BLOWING TALENT in every movie/series he's in! You can't forget his acting.🔥❤
I felt that. There was a real connection with the original cast.
I knew the moment in an interview Jon said they would always host a “death party” for whenever a cast member would die and leave the show and he said the first one they hosted was for Amy’s character Andreas little sister who died all the way back in the 1st season and he went
“Yeah no I’m still friends with her to this day”
That this cast was a true family and that even the show had been run down and put through the ringer to make it what it is now
The beginning and true heart of the show was there
A bond turn to a friendship and a friendship to brotherhoods and it can’t never be lost
Seasons 1-5 were the PRIME. 6-7 were good, but season 8 was the end for me. One of my favorite shows ever.
Both of them seem like really cool guy's and actually interact with each other almost like brothers
It's love, bro. Sometimes people just click & it leads to something special.
Season 1 is amazing
also sessions 2,3,4 was amazing to
Masterpiece
The speech Jon gave at Norman's star was just so full of love.
Its nice for Norman to humble himself and say none of them were famous.. He had already been in blade 2 and the boondock saints etc.. What a legend
I know I was thinking the same thing
Walking Dead Og fans from the first season know wassup 🫡
that first episode of the walking dead.
These guys are the true top G’s
Maaannnn those first two seasons of TWD was so intense. I remember scenes that used to bring tears to my eyes that's how great the chemistry and acting was.
Seeing john not as shane or the punisher is odd but its cool to see hes got good friendships with everyone
In my head, Jon Bernthal will ALWAYS Be referred to as "Shane"
Shane was a personal favorite of mine. I believe he whole heartedly loved Lori, and losing her is really what pushed him over the edge... love will make you crazy. I always got mad when Rock told Shane he didn't love Lori, because he had just told Glenn that if Maggie says she loves you then she does. That fact is Rick didn't like that Shane loved Lori, but he definitely did. He was in such a crapp situation , he was with the people he loved most but not the way he wanted to be. That's a different level if alone. The way he went dark... was inevitable. No one could have played it better than Jon.
Yeah they both did an amazing job playing who they were🫡
I love how humble Norman is. One of the best zombie shows. Big fan of it.
I remembered when the first episode aired on Halloween night on AMC more than a decade ago and it’s still somehow going
Jon, that super short time was THE time. I've watched seasons 1 and 2 over and over. Never gets old! I wish Better Angels had never come❤
Nostalgia man. Back in switzerland in the 1600s, seiss soldiers broke down, cried, and got sick. Why? They were longing for their home and better past times.
Nostalgia. Sometimes it hurts. Dont cry that it's gone. Smile that it happened.
Norman did such a good job playing Daryl that I legitimately just think he’s Daryl in real life every time I see him anywhere 😂 he embodies the role so well !
My daughter and I watched TWD together. She was at her high school watching a football game in Ojai and Jon Bernthal was sitting near her.
She said he took photos with them, talked and treated them really well.
I will be a fan for life for treating my daughter with kindness and respect!
I love how into his guests Jon is. Genuinely awe struck as they talk. No bullshit. No phoney chuckles or ‘whaaaaats?!’ Straight up as if he’s one of us in our cars, homes etc. dude is amazing and the cast were clearly family from the get go it’s crazy cool. This is me rambling but I had to type something seeing how into NR he was. My fave episode is Sammy Horowitz, what a show what a dude. Podcast is dope. Rambling DONE!
I've just started rewatching TWD for the first time since I was like 16. I'm 25 now, and I never appreciated just how well they all played on screen until now. Seeing this short is so crazy because I'm watching now, a show I've seen at least a few times and know very very well, completely captured once again by the show these people put on. They capture the emotions so well, and it's written so believable in the beginning. I truly feel what Norman is saying here. Real belief, love and dedication was put into this show.
I could re-watch that first season forever. It just feels so different, like you knew history was being made. So good
It's so cool how Jon is LITERALLY Shane, Jon just being himself looks like he's acting as Shane just by the little twitches in his face or the way he looks at people and how he says things
That's why Season 2 is my all Time Favorite. From the Cameraman, to the Actors, to the Directors, absolutely everyone gave 100%
Look at jon's eyes when norman is recounting the past, powerful
Seasons 3-5 were my fav. The chemistry between all the actors was definitely present on screen
Man i miss those days, i was younger and still livibg with my family.
They were the originals, that group, give or take a few additions had the most depth and character development of all. The faces started coming and going more rapidly so the product became watered down. Even still, this series will, to me, stand shoulder to shoulder with Lost as the two most intricately written, brilliantly acted, character development based series in television history. It would take an absolute juggernaut of a show to top them.
Honest its crazy the show really lifted these guy's career. They both deserved it because we watched them come into their own style as actors. If we didn't have the show, we wouldn't have gotten an amazing Punisher. I hope these guys continue to succeed because they always felt like genuinely people while watching the Show+Behind the Scenes.
Norman Redus was famous he did blade 2 and the bondocks saints still was a legend back then
Jon trying to hold the emotions back. Just proves how real Norman's words are. I think this is one of the reasons I loved the show so much. You can tell the actors are invested
I love those guys like family
This show is still like no other...In 2023 still looking i sit back and still turn to season 2. You just cant help it.
Just rewatched S2. Shane's death is one of the most heartbreaking.
I never got attached to telivision characters. But for walking dead characters. I feel nostalgic and feel like I lived with you in the whole walking dead universe
One thing I’ve noticed is that as the series progressed, dispute how great it was, the budget seemed to keep getting smaller. Like seasons 9, 10, and 11 felt smaller in budget than 3-6.
It's so cool that Jon is still good friends with Norman, they talk like they never separated.
He was the reality check Rick needed, his death and time on the show had a long lasting effect many years later
The viewers could feel this too. I stopped halfway thru season 4, with the govener arc.
It wasnt the same.
I love this show, and the characters.
This was probably the tightest cast Ive seen in most shows. You can see how close everyone was in all the set photos and feel the vibe when looking at them
That have to be a huge factor of the shows success
Shane was one of my favorite early TWD characters. He wasn't a good man but some of his actions, even if they were horrible, are easily justifiable. Had he not shot Otis at the school, he and Otis both would've been killed which in turn, would've outright sealed Carl's fate. Later when he kills that one dude that Knew Maggie from high school (forget bros name) he was putting an end to a threat that would've very obviously reared its head very soon after. He did the dirty work that needed to be done. Agree with him or not, man did what had to be done until he completely lost his shit.
Vin Diesel would have fit in perfectly.
Jon's character, Shane, serves as a metaphor throughout the show. In the later seasons, the character Rick undergoes a gradual transformation, becoming a reflection of Shane himself-someone willing to do anything for survival.
Well said Jon, the casting for the early seasons of the Walking Dead was perfect, everyone was like a family, really added to the show’s quality 👏👏👏 Jon stole the show as Shane, one of my favorite characters, wish he was kept around longer in the show
Just finished the series.. everything they talked about here came thru the screen.. it's obvious some of the dialog they actually meant towards each other IRL. I teared up last night, just how far they'd all come.. so amazing
So true. Like I know for a fact that Daryl and Carol love each other and that makes watching the show more amazing.
Even though Shane died it still felt like she was there in season 5 when Rick was literally wearing his shirt ❤
Just restarted Walking Dead from the beginning and man was Jon’s character Shane great. Same goes for Merle. Those 2 guys are actually two of the best characters ever from the show.
Man I never got a chance to watch this show ,always heard people hype over it in school and then I started hearing people say it’s not all that anymore , definitely some good actors and story on here that I missed.
Shane Walsh was sucha great character who knew what he was doing just in a tough way . His character shouldnt have been killed . Best seasons 1 2
I wish Jon would interview the whole cast!! Or as many as possible. Doesn't even have to be the main cast
He’s right, i really didnt have any idea about anyone who was in the cast backthen but now all of them are huge
Two legends of the small screen! 📺🙌
I would love to just sit down and have a conversation with Jon Bernthal.
You guys are like the walton's.. the cast were all like family. They ate every meal together every day ❤❤
I love this because I think we all have had a time in our lives where a group of people who weren’t blood feel like real family. && when you’re all having that experience at the same time, it feels insane.. the energy and the closeness. You only know if you know.
Really is crazy. When they did season 1. They were just hoping or praying they could get a second season. Ended up doing 11. Remarkable
Omg, I never heard of their real voices before they sound so kind 😱
You can not imagine how much i'm happy to hear and to see them talking about The Walking Dead... It is a marvelous gift for me... I love Jon so much... 💖
Started going through again a couple weeks ago, just got to Season 4 and the stark lack in quality between S 2 and 3 is painful to re-live, particularly knowing it just gets so much worse
No if doesn’t get worse until after 5 . I don’t know how only a few seasons yall like the show just 2 or 3 seasons like most shows people easily don’t give stuff a chance . Walking dead literally hog it’s peak at season 5 with getting it’s high viewership it’s ever had with over 18 + million tuned in viewers weekly then it quickly went downhill hard throughout season 6 all the way to season 11 . P
Frank directed the first two season’s amazingly but the show did preety dam good still even when he left. We lost a few great ogs from the beginning between seasons 1-3 but for many good ones coming in season 4 also they felt like they were meant for the group . Shane was one of my favorites that I was oases that does along with Merle and I’ve still been watching the show . People are gonna say only think the first two seasons or 3 were good when it’s really the nostalgia of the certain characters they hate that got killed off early on to wanna somehow lose interest way too soon wheh he had way more enough good ones left that were very interesting to watch . People new to realize this is a zombie show and people are eventually gona die after fans get sometimes too attached to them to then see them die then stop watching as also the shows also about story telling and most than anything about character development in that world . But yeah seasons 1-2 were definitely the ogs of the atlanta days but overall season ms 1-5 we’re definitely watchable and shut definitely hehe interesting and dark and gory in season 5 . And rick becomes Shane in season 5 wich was what Shane a back then in season 2 wanted Rick to be more like him in the apocalypse with not trusting people and doing some crazy shit
When you spend so long in the middle of nowhere just recording scenes together, there's quite the bond that forms. Especially if you can bond over something (love of acting/zombies)
TWD made alot of these actors careers & in turn they also made the show...just think how CRAZY the walkers would have been since Frank had them climbing, running, & picking up stuff then...
They better not kill Daryl
Hearing Norman talk without either a country accent (twd) or a Irish accent (boondock saints)
