      but what about if you have a lot of overlays, graphics, analyzed frames for anchors, then more RAM matters. Just rendering 4K with just trimming and clipping is not going to be the deciding factor here.

    • @Cute_Nerdy
      @Cute_Nerdy 2 года назад +1

      You write that both running XMP 3200. Your Taskmanager say 32 GB 2133 Mhz and 64 GB 2400. If XMP works in the Taskmanager you can read 3200 Mhz. In your case youve 32GB 2133 vs 64GB 2400 Mhz. So normal that 2400 is ~ 1 min faster. 2nd question what are the timings from both kits? Why I ask? Cause ram speed is good in programs like that. Good week

    Just thought I should share my experience here and also so I can look back on.
    I am not a compter compter person in any way, but I use it heavily for editing videos and sometimes 4k. I have a GPU 1050ti and 16gb of ram. This has worked fine for the hundreds of hours of editing, but as I have progressed and my job is assigning me more work to edit, the company gave me some animation to work with which came a problem and this is basic animation here folks. Mostly high quality 2D and rarely any 3D.
    When using after effects I would get a pop up message of "GPU out of ram" during rendering. I upgraded to a 32gb Ripjaws brand and although it was 10x faster, it failed again on the 2D animation render portion at the same spot/time as my 16gb did. AF said it was using 81% of the memory and needed more sooo... idk do I need to upgrade to 64 or just a corrupt animation? It's always the same and only 1 so far

    • @vinci0906
      @vinci0906 2 года назад +4

      I realise this response is too late but thought it might help others stumbling on this one.
      Your system RAM is not the problem here. As the error indicates, the VRAM (Video Memory) on your 1050 Ti GPU is not sufficient enough to handle certain aspects of the animation you're trying to process in After effects. In 2022, I'd suggest you to upgrade your GPU to something that offers a minimum of 8GB VRAM. To be more future proof, you should consider investing in higher end GPUs that offer 12, 16 or 24 GB RAM.
      Also, since you upgraded your system RAM to 32 GB, that's definitely a good upgrade that's been done here.

    Also maybe someday you should try importing a hundred 4K footages with opened thumbnail cover on the video folder. Most likely you'll get "memory" problem because the RAM can't handle it. It could be a test somehow for 32 vs 64 GB RAM for the import timings till the thumbnail have been added.

    Cool video, thanks for taking the time.
    Just some food for thought, Gamers Nexus did a segment on 2 sticks vs 4 sticks with the 5000 series Ryzen.
    Oddly enough, the 4 sticks netted around a 10% improvement over 2. Not something you normally think would be the case, but these processors seem to work better with 4 sticks of RAM.

    • @83n80y
      @83n80y Год назад +3

      Steve, it depends on if the RAM is single rank or dual-rank. The idea with 4 is to have 4 x ranks. 2 sticks that are dual-rank is essentially same. You also might run into possible timing issues the more sticks you have. 2 is going to give you more compatibility and overclocking ability than 4 sticks.

But if you will put a graphics card and/or a CPU that isn't too power hungry, you can still get lower power consumption.

      You must decide all core vs Single Core. Render programs use all cores same usage and games prefer any cores. At a 5900x you must check your bios what you can do for higher all core usage. For example ive a 5950x and if my programs go all core Ive 16 cores at 4.5 Ghz. For Information if you find your way for higher all core a good cooling for your cpu is important. I use a custom loop for max cpu and gpu. Next Month I upgrade to a mora 420 for better cooling my cpu.
