Don't do it!!! I did it and I regret it. Google just don't justify the extra money, selfie camera and main one looks waaay better on the pixel 3 xl, until you need to do video where the main one on the p5 wins. 90 hz on p5 won't kill the high density pixels on the p3xl, plus the size , p5 screen is noticeable small. Oh and they really force you into gesture mode to move around the os, it just sucks. Battery on p5 is really good but still, I think I rather plug my p3 xl than make all those sacrifices. I ran a benchmark and my p3xl with almost 96% storage full and at50% battery killed the p5. I hope I helped you.

Awesome review again, It is quite nice to see how my Pixel 3XL is still relevant, and you pointed out why I love it so much. I do not take nearly as many videos as photos so that to me is more important, also just never disappoints me. Up to this day it still never fails to deliver. Battery is great, performance is great. Also I think the Pixel 3XL has the gold standard for "big display enthusiasts like me" I feel it is shame that Google didn't produce an XL with the 5 line, but potentially they may with the 6th gen. I hope for a phone with exactly same dimensions in an edge-to-edge display, small bezel variant, without any notch just maybe a camera hole, mid-high hardware with top notch SOC and camera sensors, 128-256 GB SSD, 16GB RAM. In-display fingerprint sensor. That would be the next perfect next phone for me. Still even today I do not feel the need to "updgrade", quite weird for me, as if the Pixel 3 line would have been a prodigy child of its time. (I don't think the 5 is the same) Thank you, Emad!
I was looking at getting a pixel 5 to replace my 3XL as I would have thought it had a better camera but it looks like they've made the hardware cheaper and lower quality. Even the screen is no longer 2k, only 1080p, I've had a 2k screen since my LG G4 in 2015 and don't feel like technology is improving that much in the phone department recently. So I'll keep my 3XL for a while longer. So far it's been one of my only phones I've not upgraded before the end of my 24 month contract.
I also have been comparing photos of my old Pixel 2 to my Pixel 4. I like the slightly warmer tone/white balance of the Pixel 2 much better than the Pixel 4. The 4 seems a little stark and slightly bluish by comparison. The 4 does have somewhat better detail and controls harsh lighting a little better than the 2. But the 2 is still more pleasing to my eye overall.

I'm not sure the 3xl has more detail. It has higher sharpening for sure but in terms of what's visible in the photo they're very similar. It might be deliberate. Landscapes don't look good when oversharpened on bigger screens especially if lots of tree branches in it. Interesting to compare 5 on 8.1 Vs 7 on camera px with hdr switched off (camera px is modded version of Google camera). I sometimes find my 4a images are too sharp and have reduced this in camera px as such.
Yes I agree that over sharpening is not a good thing but I see the Pixel 3 photos are balanced even I see them on big a screen, may be it's a matter of taste after all
Since the Pixel 4a 5G has Pixel 5 camera hardware, I think it might be the direct upgrade path from the Pixel 3 XL. There's no major improvements (except battery life), but lots of minor ones. (For example, improved microphone clarity is rarely mentioned, but both the 4a 5G and Pixel 5 have better microphones and background noise suppression.) I sure do miss squeezing my assistant, though.
That's the only thing i miss on the 4a 5G, indeed. I had a 3a for a few months, and the squeeze feature was really nice, used it way more than i expected.
10:05 you give the image stabilisation win to the 5, but it being slightly smoother means nothing when you lose that much detail. Pixel 3xl freeze frame looks like a still photo, 5 looks like a picture taken on a feature phone circa 2012
Are you using HDR+ Enhanced on the 3XL ? I found out the "Always On Instant HDR+E" on the Pixel 4 and 5 often give this kind of results compared to the 3 and the 3a, a bit less details (I'm using a 4a 5G and a 3a to test). Kinda sad they removed the option to use HDR+E. But again, the shot is instant while HDR+E has to take multiple shots and takes a bit of time, so ... Can't complain if the difference is so subtle, the progress is actually impressive haha !
Pixel 5 closely resembles my old pixel 2xl colors especially the sky. I wouldnt say the white balance is ugly, but its certainly not pleasing. Pixel 3 and 4 have the best colours and sharpness imo.
Maybe because P3 has better ISP so the image is a bit sharper.... but I prefer the P5 with those video quality improvements. Please make a comparison video that focus on the video dynamic range between these 2 phones.

I just upgraded to the 3xl form the 2xl. The only thing I prefer from the 2 is the stereo speakers, apart from that, everything is better on the 3 for me, which I could not think was possible.
The 3 XL is definitely better than the 2 XL but If you want a big jump in the specs and experience I recommend the 4 XL and if you want to save money the 4a or 4a5G

I own all Pixel models except 'a" models, I use them all, the last 3 have dedicated lines, my main number is on 3 XL but will retire the phone once Pixel 6 comes out, then I forced to migrate the main apps which will be a minor headache process. I do not have issues taking photos with 3 XL, selfie is great for wide shots, I am not into selfies. The only issues I have with the phone is memory management and battery life, the part which annoys me the most when I am on a road trip or hiking, the phone dies on me. Pixel 5 is worth the upgrade, excellent battery life and love the phone size which is near to my iPhone SE 2020 and iPhone 12 mini thought their batteries are no match for Pixel 5. You can't go wrong with Pixel phones when it comes to taking photos they are the best, videos iPhones are the best. Emad I noticed you have a soft heart for Pixel 3XL, I still use my Pixel 3 XL the most because I do not give my other phones numbers to others except to my children, spouse and siblings. When it comes to Pixel phones, your channel is a must to follow. I do like the way you do your reviews taking us to points of interests in UAE, there is a another vlogger who lives in New York who does the same along the with Mr. Mobile and their volgger friends on their reviews trips in State of New York. I will recommend my brother in Cairo when he visits Dubai again to go the places which was mentioned in this review.
