First, he says that maybe when we raise a queen from a good family, we actually raise a queen from a family that has good balance of microorganisms, which I think means that maybe genetics is not the only thing involved. Then he says that if a family dies because of infestation then good riddance to bad genetics. Is not this a contradiction? Most likely I missed something...
Totally agree!! I never treat my Honey Bees or Bumble Bees. Bees have survived for thousands and thousands of years with out treatments so why do we need to treat them now? The pesticide companies have very effective add campaigns making us believe we need all these poisons on our bees. I am not sure if you have them in your part of the world but we have Meadow ants here and they absolutely love eating the mites. I have seen ants carrying away varoa mite that fall from the hives. Thanks for posting this video.
I have 2 - 6 frame and recently added 2 - 7 frame flow hives. I would like to convert my 6 frame to 7 frame hives. Would you consider selling a kit with a 7 frame flow super box and one flow frame? Its great you already offer an extra brood box. We bee keepers in the northern climate require two brood boxes to make it through winter. I like the new wood your using and would like to keep my apiary uniform. Please respond. Thank you!
With respect, how do you square that this "treatment free" philosophy has been thoroughly and soundly debunked by Randy Oliver, Mike Palmer, Kim Flottum, and this is a Quote from the American Bee Journal: "And to anyone who calls them self a treatment-free beekeeper and engages in this hands-off approach, don’t think I’m going to justify your neglect and the possibility of you spreading your problems to those around you. You could not be further from the truth, for I don’t even consider you a beekeeper." (Aug 1, 2018 Terry Combs) In these clashes of science fact put against gentlemen like Mr Bush, what are new beekeepers supposed to do? IT "feels good" to think of the bees fending off every ailment on their own, but is that truly possible? The science doesn't support what is being said here. IN my many decades of beekeeping, I can say that if I didn't offer up some treatment, I would have been out of business very long ago. I think that presentations like this one are actually a little dangerous to beekeeping as it allows the rampant spread of parasites while colonies are allowed to just "naturally" die off. I hope Mr Bush can reconsider his message one of these days and is also honest about his own losses which he never shares.
i was having mite problems my first two years and treated and lost several hives regardless of the treatments Then I started searching for help and found Micheal Bush on line.became a believer.Started foundatioinless and Micheals teachings.I don't treat anymore.Have no Mites issues,Bee keepers where I live do not believe me.. I live in North Florida and everyone at Bee meetings treat. They go to the meetings and ask one another what their mite count is?When they ask me I say I don't have the problem.
In the ABJ article you reference, Terry Combs discusses his method of "survivor selection from treatment free hives". Using that method, he shows data indicating his 3% loss over the past 5 years. The quote you mention is taken out of context. Read the entire article and you will be heartened to stop treating your bees - just like Terry Combs did.
@@azurebapiaries6730 How is treatment-free working for beekeepers in Australia these days? I suggest that you are the individual who could benefit from some further learning. Michael Bush is one dishonest individual on many points he makes and has made.
At 07:14 he states that these "kill almost all of the microorganisms" flatly false and the science is incompatible with his speculations. Flow creators align themselves with some questionable characters which could be damaging to their reputation in the long run.
Congratulations Flowhive.
Michael Bush is a great resource to bee keepers around the world. Thank you for posting this presentation.

Excellent and practical information! Thanks for this!
You're very welcome :) Glad you found it helpful! - Danika
Would it be a good idea to feed bees their own honey, like 1/1 honey & filtered water?
Mike Bush for president!!!
Please, talk to me about your thoughts on honeybee vaccines.

I had no idea Michael came to Australia ☹️ When & where?
I believe it was at the end of 2015, in Byron Bay.

@@bluzman1940 I completely understand why others in your area do not believe you. I think you may need to learn better how to count those mites.
Please, add subtitles in english.
Thank you Gui, I will see if we can do that.
