Thanks for viewing this video! Should I make another with the brands I missed?
1st time here and 1st time back skating since 2014. So much has changed since the 90s when I started, I can keep up. It seems most boards are all made by the same company now, like Rodneys company ect. Muska use to be my favorite skater so I rode allot of his boards. Then went to Zoo York for a decade. I’m kinda a loyalist I guess?! I skate a Real now and it’s a board, nothing exciting imo. Baker and Girl were big with the best skaters I knew personally back then. Was thinking about going Baker or Zoo York again, any advice cuz I feel like I’m starting all over again! I only really skate street. I love cruising around and “finding spots”. Tks for the vid!

Me too.

@@jaycezeniuk2506 how so
Me too bro. Baker is still good. Going with an 8.25 with mob grip, independent s11 144, reds big balls and ricta clouds 92a
Same
Back in the day I had a $5 deck I got from a garage sale, I swapped it for a cheapish element board and then swapped that for an antihero. Just a quick story not that anyone cares 😂
That’s what I call upgrading
Same.
Except I still have that cheap ass board and it doesn't even roll and I can't afford a good one cuz we have no skateshops in my country :(
What about online. Try tactics or ccs and if you have to as a last resort try Zumiez
Upgrades people, upgrades
Bacon Slap what’s wrong with zumiez tho? they got decks for like $25 online
A lot of different skate brands are the same decks they’re made in the same factory and then different brand logos are put on each deck. I think the key to a good deck is finding the size, wheel base, and concave you like.
👍

we have no skateparks in my country.
Kelly Gilmore my local didn’t even close
Don’t even have a decent skatepark within a 1hr radius
Aside from maybe Girl and Quasi, I've never heard of any of these companies 😂
I come from that '90s era. Zero, Toy Machine, Alien Workshop, Enjoi, Blind, Element, Powell. I'm 35 and just now getting back into skating after about 15 years. I picked up Andy Anderson's signature Powell flight deck to restart on. I really like old school freestyle, but I barely know anything. I'm old, stiff and out of shape, but it's still fun.
How's progress? I skated since i was 10 till 15. Quit due to adulting and commitment issues. 30 now with 2 young kids and i recently got back to skating. Bought an 8.125 santa cruz and i'm not used to it. Flip skateboards it is for me! Have fun! Also, more dynamic stretches before skate session!
Same im 37 from chicago I always skated blind
I’m in the exact same situation. I’m 35, haven’t skated in at least 10 years, my nephew is getting me back into it.
love blind decks still ride them
how it happened u didn't hear about santa cruz
Nice seeing these ranked, seems like GIRL has stood the test of time and always been the solid trust. I've always been the biggest fan of FLIP back in the day because their corner divots just before the nose were so kinked you could get insane hook on your flips and rotations, but the most durable decks that I never find anymore at the bamboo lined Habitat decks. I still have one that's riddled with cracks and splits and absolutely will NOT break on me, so I still crush it with that one when I'm trying new ish that might mess up my nice board too much. Cheers
Ephesians 5:4 bro. read it if you wish
Had a Girl deck recently, that was really good.
I have a GIRL deck that's last me 15 years. it has very few cracks as well. they are some of the best made boards.
@@cat-ds7ys 15 YEARS? Nah bro you must be skating like twice a year or some shit !
its weird, ive never had a good board from girl, they always broke after about a couple months and i only cruise on boards, best i had was an old school deck i got years back, things still going strong
I skated in the 90s and my experiences were Alien Workshop albeit looked awesome broken too easily if you were over 160 lbs and I was 200-210. Blind and Element lasted the best for me back then. Now I am a dad in my 40s looking to get back into it with my kids. Who knows what I will end up with. I prefer vintage pool board/dragon board shakes over the standard popsicle.
Quasi was the first deck I’ve ever got three years ago I learned all the tricks I know on that board and it never snapped or chipped badly and the pop is still really good quasi is definitely the best deck brand
I like this man it's pretty informative I just landed here trying to find reviews on punisher decks
The tail chipped pretty badly after like 5 sessions on my recent GX board doing flat ground and curbs tricks. It's close to a twin board shape--which also makes it harder to pop for height compared to a tapered tail. It was fun for simple slides and riding around. But I wouldn't go with one again.
Ephesians 5:4 bro. read it if you wish
Can't even have a second of hate for a guy that puts in that much work into each deck.
Only boards I've had were Power Deck and Airwalk. Power Deck was kinda my first and I'm pretty sure I outgrew it. I lost my Airwalk board long ago but that one was better. I always wanted a board from either Zero, Element, RDS or Anti-Hero. They always seemed cooler to me
Dude sick video and those spots look dope! You are so close to 10k!! Keep killing it!
thanks bro!
My absolute favorite board was a 7.75 Erik Ellington Deathwish and an 8.0 Eternal Life Blind board. Best boards by far. Least fav would be a Zero. Lasted me two weeks :/
0:38 only skate 3 players would know
(i love that game so much)
I'm a uncrowned king of the cigarette machine
I recently skated a Polar Skate Co. board. it was really fun but i felt like the concave was a bit mellow. Had a really full shape on the nose which is what i love. I definitely recommend skating a polar if you haven't already!
I feel polars are steep as fuck
Aksel Harm yeah idk the one i had was really mellow
Blake Rogers The kicks can be kinda mellow, concave medium-steep. Polar boards come out of bbs so depends where in The stack The board was
I decided to give skating another try last year and I bought a Baker deck and it held up really well for a good while. It didn't chip or crack at all and at the time I weighed around 200
santa cruz is an extremely solid go to, almost every major brand ive tried would crack within like the first week, my santa cruz decks wouldnt crack untill atleast 2 weeks of skating sometimes longer. (i do alot of disasters which is why my boards crack so often) you definitely got a dud board on that first one.
Do you do the splits if your board snaps during a disaster?
@@haderacho3918 ive never snapped a board on a disaster, i crack them but keep skating them untill they get too “wobbly” or whatsver u wanna call it
That’s interesting Santa Cruz has always been my least favorites.. I’ve skated multiple of my boys but I just don’t like them for some reason the pop is off or something
It was most likely a birch deck instead of maple.
I've skated a lot of different boards over the years, Creature and Welcome feel the most comfortable under my feet for the type of skating I like
Zero has really nice decks, they're very solid with really cool graphics and they last forever. One time I was on a budget and got a Blackout deck, it was terrible af.
Zero has really good concave too imo
Dude Quasi is slept on so hard. My local shop sells them and those are the only decks I buy. I skated one for a solid 4 months before it finally snapped after I got mad trying to fakie heel a low and long 3 block and I stomped it. It was ran over and slammed on multiple walls from bailing. People need to skate quasi more
do you raccomand it ?
@@pasnizyt9628 I think he does.
@@pasnizyt9628 yes especially the quasi acid ply ones. Idk what it means but I feel like they are stronger than standard quasi deck
is it just me or have decks gotten more expensive over the past year or 2
I think they have, I remember they all used to be like $49 now some are up to $65
Inflation
the actual price (like the $ amount) has changed over the years but adjusted for inflation skate decks have relatively been the same for basically ever
Depends if your wanting something special. If not just go to CCS clearance section or anywhere, sales are always good

I haven't ridden all of the brands you mentioned, but for the ones I have, I'd say you were accurate. The nose on my Santa Cruz chipped, my Mini Logo lost it's pop and I'm currently riding a Welcome, which I love but the nose is a bit big. I'm thinking about trying a Madness next. Any experience with them?
Ey how did you like the madness? Been hearing a bunch but never tried em
Madness are awesome.
Hard to find now though.
They're fairly heavy and ultra stiff because of the epoxy and most of the decks are shaped.
Right up my alley, but I started skating 38 years ago.
Mini logo blank boards are amazing I have one and it feels almost the exact same as a zero board and only cost $35
Right I have a mini logo and like mine. I’ve had mine for a while now so no it doesn’t have a fresh pop but it’s definitely workable. Most people that try my deck don’t land much of shit anyways since I skate a 7.5 lol. Been thinking heavily on getting an 8.5 though
Death wish all the way for me so far, ive skated an 8.25 for the past like 2 months because it lasted me the longest. Finally chipped the top of the tail doing a trick and continuing to hit its tail.
I live in nz and im starting skateboarding, im looking at a element complete skateboard that is $100. Is it a good board for a beginner?
Mini logo has been my go to for awhile. I’ve still got a mini logo 8.25 from like years ago. I’ve got so many fuckin handrails and flip trips down stairs and it doesn’t even have a chip on it. Maybe it’s just luck or how I usually land on the bolts. It does have a shit ton of pressure cracks but still solid pop. I recently got a new mini logo and it’s got fat pressure cracks and the tail is starting to chip after about a week of practically daily skating. So yeah I think it just depends on how well you’re skating and landing clean and just luck. My board got away from me going pretty fast and it hit the wall pretty hard so that’s why it’s almost developing a chip on the tail but I still like the feel of the mellow concave. I always loved baker boards and real boards seemed to last a long time but hands down the mini logo has lasted the longest. I bought 2 extras for standby. Also have a habitat board I just picked up. I’ll be trying that out at some point but it might be awhile
I used to skate mini logo for the longest time, never thought they were even close to other standard "blank" decks they were priced around.
I'm looking at Darkroom skateboard's decks, are they any good? Also how grippy is their grip??
How did you pin those decks to the wall?
Santa Cruz has been good for me but REAL tail broke on my 3rd day skating it when I went to pop. Santa Cruz is my go to. I skate best on their old school reissues and Erick Winkowski models. Fucking love the winkowski decks. I love the Cruz Missile 2 concave. It's deeper for you front foot with a mellow feeling tail. It's really good for transition but I still take them street skating. I've always liked the shape. My very first skateboard was a 1987 NASH catatonic that I got in 2001 for $20 from a flea market. I still have a modern deck but I don't skate it as often though. The Antihero 8.0 I have has been really good. I think the REAL deck might of had a defect.
"really old" 7 year old deck. Damn. I still have a squared off old deck from the early 2000s in storage
Time for my 3rd skateboard deck, what is a good choice for a new deck?what brand do you recommend?ive tried superior,it was krap, anti hero was great, but my ollies weren’t as high on it,what should my next one be?
Creature
Dude, there are so many blank decks that are so good, almost every high end skate brand has a sister company that makes blanks
@@mag2094 Check out Moose blank decks. Good standard quality, and cheap. They come in packs of 5 blank decks tho so atleast you'll have extras
@@mag2094 get zero, they are really nice..

Matt DiGi what were your thoughts on that board?
Matt DiGi hi Matt I was wondering if you know what size skateboard I should get? Thank you (I’m 10 btw. Almost 11)
Riley Alexis probably a 7.5 or 7.75 depends on ur weight ig
Jesus loves you:)
I started out on a Walmart board and then got a real board, I’ve been skating real boards ever since
Glad to hear quasi’s getting all round thumbs up, I thought was really decent deck too and will no doubt get another one
This guy had so many skate boards and I just started to look for a good brand cuz I have a board with one tail on it. My board was a hand me down from my dad. I am planning on getting the new board on my bday so what would board do you guys think I should get?
Who liked my comment
Baker
U just had to put in one of my favorite songs, that also is in one of my favorite games, so I want to play skate 3 and cigarette machine is stuck in my head.
Never skated a Mini Logo deck berfor but heard they were good, always skate Mini Logo wheels (C-Cut 52mm 99a) and love them so much. Actually thaught about getting sponsered by them for a while.
They dont sponsor
@Matt DiGi can you make a video on lowprofile skatebrands with good decks?
Thanks for making this video. I am currently 22 and haven’t skated since high school, but I’m looking to get back into it.
I swear real decks last longer than any of the other decks I’ve tried
Ty Larson depends where u live if u can’t find one local then try online 🤷🏾♂️
try baker

Baker IS THE BEST BRAND SKATEBOARD IN THE WORLD TRUST MEEEEE
@@VibezyPoo Its my main brand
Dude, one brand you could try out is Cruzade. The boards are quite cheap and I think you will like the shapes. Personally I don’t like the shapes at all, they just feel weird but I think they will match you’re stile, or preference on shapes
honestly bro from what youve said, you reaaaaalllly need to try a deathwish board the nose, tail, and steep ness would is perfect. after i got my first deathwish board i dont feel like anything else could come close
Ay sick vid bro. I agree with a lot of ur ankings hahaha but for me Krooked is always number 1!!! I'm biased tho coz they r just my fav company 👌😂 Riding an 8.5 krooked team board rn, and straight up the best board I've ever had, it's full, it's good length, nice concave and just frickin lit

My son age 14: "Dad, why don't you skate with me sometime"? Me: (age 52) watching this video with him..:50 "broken arm"....:54 "Broken hip"...etc., etc
Brooo, skate with him. Just take it real easy. It would mean a lot to me if my dad skated with me

My dad still skates with me and he's 54. He doesn't do any tricks he knows he can't pull off with ease. Just some simple kickturns but it's great that we get to cruise together
Dude wear pads. Im 33 and wear hip pads (seems to take the brunt of alot of unexpected falls), elbow pad on leading arm to assist with absorbing falls, etc. I love skateboarding and will not/cant stop, you just have to tone it down and pad up when necessary
I actually really like mini logo just because i can totally shred the board and have another one the next day when it finally snaps
Wht is a good website to buy a new skateboard?
Spot on, Anti-Hero are solid. Deathwish/Baker missing from the review and they are legit. As are Zero and Dwindle (Almost, Blind, enjoi, etc) as they are pressed one at a time.
Madness are my favorite Dwindle decks.
0:38 this man thought "What song is good for skate clips?" and this dude launched skate 3 and was like "Oh ya this is the one!" Lmao
Any tips for brands I should check out? I’m looking for a traditional skateboard in the $100 range.
What do you consider traditional?
It really depends on your age. I still think of popsicles as freestyle decks. For me a shaped deck is traditional.
Up this dude is awesome and deserves millions of subs
I recently got a mini logo I never really knew the brand it was just I needed a new board quick and it was a low budget but I agree the pop wears down quickly and the pop kinda feels soft you don't really get that hard solid pop like other skateboards do

There’s also a brand called Powell Peralta that make very good skateboards in my opinion
Thx🤙🏼 do you know what size skateboard I should get? (I’m 10. almost 11)
Riley Alexis it’s all about preference and since I’m pretty sure your just starting out o would get an 8.0 size board because you will have more room than a 7.5 a would give other recommendations but I’ve never tried an 8.5 or larger board
@@rileyalexis06 7.75 i think would be good for you

What about Powell Peralta or WKND skateboards? Do you have an opinion on either of those brands?
were natural moose blanks decent or was i just a 90 Lb kid when i skated them?
Almost decks are my favorite but I’ve never skated a quasi might have to try one
I have one for sale if you're interested, it's a GX1000 board but came in a quasi box, I think they're the same company
Mini logo is made by the same factory as powell peralta, the reason its so cheap is because they don't have a team and don't advertise so they can sell high quality, basically powell peralta decks for dirt cheap
thats right!!! sk8
Hey man I've been curious about Death Valley could you do a full review on them please?
Right now I’m stuck on sour, quasi or polar as my first real deck, out of all of them which one is best?
Idk, it’s your experience
Although mini logos decks are kinda bad I can’t fault their bearings just as good as reds but break in faster (from personal experience)
From my experience mini logo are really good they always last me a while and never snap or anything always has good pop and they cheap
Mini logo is just a bang for the buck
Nice Video as always. Yet I have to say that quasi for me don’t have legendary status for me. I had two quasi decks and both of them broke in one week 😂
You should definitely try polar skate!
I should try one! I had 2 quasi’s delaminate on me but I kept them legendary because the customer service reps sent me free ones when I told them

Gianna Benthe I’ve had it for 3 months now, I still use it. It has chips in the tail and nose, but it is still ridable. I like everything about it, but the only things I don’t like about it is that I wish the nose and tail was more square instead of rounded, and it chipped pretty easily, also considering I was a beginner when I got it, so I was falling off a lot and it flew into objects a lot. All around, I would recommend using one they are pretty good.
Getting back in. Basically I had a Madrid board back in 1988 and a Powell Peralta Lance Mountain.
Ive had 2 blinds, 2 flips, 2 girls, 1 blank, 1 atm, and my new board is a Santa Cruz...
