Pushit got me through the toughest time in my life. This album came out when my father was dying of terminal cancer. I was 17 and I was not handling it well at all. It cleared my head and gave me a comforting feeling when I needed it most.
I sympathize. Death is something we are all aware of, and seem to like to pretend it doesn't get to us. But with cancer, you are forced into the unfortunate task of dealing with it slowly (as was the case in my family) and prolonging grief in ludicrous ways. When a loved one is dying like that, you begin the grief process while they are still alive, and that is just not easy on anybody. Thankfully, we have music... art... literature to make things more tolerable. At the very least, hearing something that reminds you that you are not alone in these feelings, that can go a long ways in helping a person. This was my real existential Tool album as well.
That is beautiful to hear 🥰 music transcends 🎶
I can relate to your story. My dad died from stroke when I was 16. I was in despair
Tool is the antidote to life
That is a good song
Ænima is the peak of Maynard’s voice IMO, and Pushit is the pinnacle of that.
Amen, just amen!!
Or Eulogy. Real hard to decide.
its the Pinnacle of Tools writing from a direct to the heart pov, they became a little more convoluted (still great) imo, they are not as grand here as the following album but the balance of technical and feeling is just perfect. the OG Pushit is their most underrated track IMO
It was the beginning of his peak. Lateralus was his peak, just listen to Ticks and Leeches.
The whole album is there best all around
Yes! I’ll be recovering from surgery just in time! The best version of Pushit. Gives me goosebumps every time. (And no eggs).
Lol, hope the procedure went well
Funny...i just had surgery too.
Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned!!!! And make sure you look at the lyrics because it goes FAST!

@@toddoswald6324 NURSE: Excuse me, doctor? If you have a moment.
DOCTOR: A moment? What's the question?
NURSE: More of a situation, a gentleman in Exam 3.
DOCTOR: What's the problem?
NURSE: That is the problem, we're not sure.
DOCTOR: You've got the chart?
NURSE: Right here.
DOCTOR: Hmm... not much here, is there?
NURSE: No doctor, no obvious physical trauma, vitals are stable
DOCTOR: Name?
NURSE: No sir.
DOCTOR: Did someone drop him off? Maybe we can speak to them. Let's get some background on this fellow.
NURSE: No ID, nothing, and he won't speak to anyone.
DOCTOR: Well, let's say hello.
DOCTOR: Good morning, I'm Dr. Watson. How are you today? How are you today? Look son, you're in a safe place, we want to help you, in whatever way we can. But you need to talk to us, we can't help you otherwise. Now, what's happened? Tell me everything.
Alrighty, then
Picture this if you will
10 to 2 AM, X, Yogi DMT, and a box of Krispy Kremes
In my "need to know" pose, just outside of Area 51
Contemplating the whole "chosen people" thingy
When just then a flaming stealth banana split the sky
Like one would hope but never really expect to see in a place like this
Cutting right angle donuts on a dime
And stopping right at my Birkenstocks
And me yelping, "holy fucking shit!"
Holy fucking shit!
Holy fucking shit!
Holy fucking shit!
Holy fucking shit!
Holy fucking shit!
Holy fucking shit!
Then the X-File being
Looking like some kind of blue-green Jackie Chan
With Isabella Rossellini lips, and breath that reeked of
Vanilla Chig Champa
Did a slow-mo Matrix descent
Outta the butt end of the banana vessel
And hovered above my bug-eyes, my gaping jaw
And my sweaty L. Ron Hubbard upper lip
And all I could think was
"I hope Uncle Quark here doesn't notice
That I pissed my fuckin' pants"
So light in his way, like an apparition, that
He had me crying out
"Fuck me, it's gotta be
The Deadhead Chemistry
The blotter got right on top of me
Got me seein' E-motherfuckin'-T!"
And after calming me down
With some orange slices
And some fetal spooning
E.T. revealed to me his singular purpose
He said, "You are the chosen one
The one who will deliver the message
A message of hope for those who choose to hear it
And a warning for those who do not"
Me, the chosen one
They chose me
And I didn't even graduate from fuckin' high school
You'd better
You'd better
You'd better
You'd better listen
Then he looked right through me
With somniferous almond eyes
Don't even know what that means
Must remember to write it down
This is so real
Like the time Dave floated away
See, my heart is pounding
'Cause this shit never happens to me
I can't breathe right now!
It was so real
Like I woke up in Wonderland
All sorta terrifying
I don't wanna be all alone
While I tell this story
And can anyone tell me why
You all sound like Peanuts parents?
Will I ever be coming down?
This is so real
Finally, it's my lucky day
See, my heart is racing
'Cause this shit never happens to me
I can't breathe right now
You believe me, don't you?
Please believe what I've just said!
See the Dead ain't touring
And this wasn't all in my head
See, they took me by the hand
And invited me right in
Then they showed me something
I don't even know where to begin
Strapped down to my bed
Feet cold and eyes red
I'm out of my head
Am I alive? Am I dead?
Can't remember what they said
God damn, shit the bed
Overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position
Such a heavy burden now to be the one
Born to bear and bring to all the details of our ending
To write it down for all the world to see
But I forgot my pen
Shit the bed again
Typical
Strapped down to my bed
Feet cold and eyes red
I'm out of my head
Am I alive? Am I dead?
Sunkist and Sudafed
Gyroscopes and infrared
Won't help, I'm brain dead
Can't remember what they said
God damn, shit the bed
I can't remember what they said to me
Can't remember what they said to make me out to be the hero
Can't remember what they said
Bob help me!
Can't remember what they said
Don't know, won't know
Don't know, won't know
Don't know, won't know
Don't know, won't know
Don't know, won't know
Don't know, won't know

This song blows my mind🤯 everytime and never gets old! Not that any of them do now that I think about it. 🤔 Can't wait till Tuesday!🛸
This song literally saved my life. Trapped in a physically and emotionally abuse marriage which led me to be mired in the depths of active addiction this song summed up my life. At my deepest despair, I grasped on to the line "if when I say I might fade like a sigh if I stay. You minimize my movement anyway...there's no love in fear", clung to it with my life and used it as the light at the end of the tunnel to focus on and escape, with my life and my kids.
I’m glad you’ve escaped and that you’re still here, bless you ❤️
It also helped me end a 5 year toxic relationship. It’s worth being pushed to that point to end it.
Very deep! Glad you got out alive. Bless you.

Pushit studio version 😱😱😱
Today is a good day 🎃
You know how it’s impossible to pick a favorite Tool song? Well I have 20 favorites. But Pushit is my favorite favorite. 💜🖤💜
Same! Pneuma and Jambi are real close but Pushit is still my fav.
Agreed. This one just sticks in the mind. Love it so much.
Well I have a favorite favorite favorite, and a favorite favorite favorite favorite...... I just don't know which one it is today! Lol!
Same. I had wanting it for long time and them to listen it over the live version. At least first. This version gets way too underrated.
Right up there as my favorite TOOL song ever and was incredibly lucky to see them play it live. Such a deep song and brings out so much emotion...in me anyways. Cheers.
If you guys didn’t know (for people that aren’t metalheads), “Die Eier Von Satan” means “The Balls Of Satan”
it's a double meaning. it could mean that or it could simply mean "the eggs of Satan"
@@idefixl3234 well I typed in the FULL title & that’s what I got
The funny thing is "Die Eier Von Satan" in Polish means the same as mentioned here (eier = balls / eggs = Polish 'jaja') but also "(robić sobie) jaja z" = "(making) jokes of".
So, it's double pun including Polish: "Jokes made of Satan"
And the lyrics are a recipe for "magic" Die Eire Von Satan! With no eggs!
Die eir von satan was made to be scary, like a Nazi rally, but its intended for you to look past, and research, and if you do, you eliminate the fear, and are left with tasty treats.
This should be applied to anything scary.
Its much like a fear innoculation
Wish you could have filmed your reaction when you found out that Die Eier Von Satan is only a cookie recipe!! 🤣
This! Hash cookies, but cookies lol. Bake for 15 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius... AND NO EGGS!
Its Deviled Eggs in German.
Studio version of Descending as well... that live version was a great disservice to how EPIC that song was.
Seriously. This.
The bass makes that song and the live version doesn't do it justice
@@NooDLES411911 You are not lying especially when Danny hits the Gong and sends out a Shockwave into everyone listening... by far my favorite tool song and should be experienced at its best.
@@EliteJudah713 although SEEING it live Is different. Justin's bass thumps throughout the whole set. Their live show is my favourite concert ever. Especially with some mushrooms in the mix lol mind blowing experience
@@NooDLES411911 i feel you... I saw them years ago after they came out with 10,000 days... it's definitely a crazy experience.
My German teacher read this out in Deutsche class 1..AND we made the treats!
I'm guessing that was without the hash... :P
Either way, good Deutsche teacher right there.
Hashish???
It's a recipe for hash brownies lol
Brush up on your German and get out your cooking utensils.
But no eggs!
AND NO EGGS!!!
and no eggs
Let's cook Satan's balls
Oh yes....drooling. Pushit is my all-time fave.
its the best
The first part of that is a german hash cookie recipe lol
Not so much a German recipe as a recipe read in German. Moreover, as if it were Adolf Hitler's speech
Forget the Danny on drums to Pneuma. The drumming in this song is madness. I saw this live in Vancouver... a dream come true.
I watch every Tool Tues but haven't commented in a while. Love that you did this. Tool Army wasn't being weird when we didn't get how you reacted to Pushit live when you never heard the studio version. To us- that was a very special live change to the original song & appreciated what they did in that live show, glad you finally heard it. That salival version will now mean more to you- just wished you did this first before you reacted to that, would've meant more to you.
yea we have heard that from others as well, but now we can def appreciate them both. Its so hard to chose which one we prefer though ya know
@@Hollywood6IX love your response. I love live version better, but that's after feeling the other version in my bones for years first...so that live one hit a little differently. Love you guys. Love watching you watch my boys
This is on point! Push It stands on its own and is insane. But, then the first time you hear Maynard, "we going to try something a little different. We need you to find a comfortable space, but vulnerable as well". My god, how wonderful, no one talked like that back then. And then you journey off with Tool on something so familiar but new. And you love it!
But then through random listening; the studio version hits your speakers and you recall the awe of that sound of Push It from Aenima and get completely caught up in this epic song. It is incredible.

There’s no love in fear, boys. Have fun baking those cookies.
And I just gotta say, again, how wonderful it is rediscovering the greatest music ever recorded with you guys.
I've been a Tool fan ever since "Sober', but never once had I ever read the lyrics of this song... and now I know why...
A year ago I lost the best woman, the best friend, the best person I had ever known, and this song PERFECTLY describes that... and I read the lyrics, only NOW, when I need my closure, and have been on the brink of losing myself... This is fucking incredible...
Sad for your loss bro. ✌
I can't wait. You guys are so genuinely into Tool and thoughtful in your reactions. Not clowning around just for views. It takes me back to the days of discovering and sharing these bands with my friends. I'd also love to see you guys do more Megadef!😁
Thanks for this my friend
14:42-15:10 this was the moment of the song that I was waiting for, Maynard made and still make me feel a lot of goosebumps when he sings that part untill the high note.
Pushit has effected me more than any other song in my life. It's a masterpiece. That song has saved me more times than I can count.
I dig how y'all just give us the 'Same' visceral reaction that we experience... watching y'all jam out confirms the feeling's I feel every time I have undivided attention to listen to our favorite band
Not everything is as it seems right?
Die Eier von Satan sounds like some Hitler speech (harsh German language, people in the background cheering...) but in the end the singer just talks about a recipe for hash cookies.
Talking bout books and them covers right
Agree with you guys about the studio version being better. A big part of that for me is the great long notes in the studio that aren't there on the live version.
IMO there’s never been an album like Aenima. Stinkfist, Eulogy, H, 46&2, Jimmy, Hooker w/a Penis, Pushit, Aenema, Third Eye..Nine of the greatest songs I’ve ever heard, all with cool interludes. I’ve been listening to Rock, Metal, Hardcore, Punk, Prog, etc. for 35 years. This album is the top of the list for me.
I wish i could, but i cant even begin to explain to you how fkn incredible it is to see these guys live. This song was epic....like epic...no other words.....10 000 days was something i will never experience again....15000 people openly weeping yet rocking out due to the pure feeling of the song....i truly hope you two guys get to at least see them live once...Just once so you can say, i know exactly what you mean. Cheers boys and thanking so much for TOOL Tuesdays. Awesome reactions.
Man we're so jealous
The power and the magic of this version is understood and felt by ya’ll.
Thank you for acknowledging the struggle that Maynard's dealing with. And the fact that he's overcame so much already. Most reaction channels dont appreciate the human factor and put the artists on a different plain. You guys really understand that we are all in this together.
Also remember that studio versions are the way the bands want us to hear their music. I love live stuff 100% but studio is just as powerful but for totally different reasons. Keep rockin’ it out! ❤️🤘🏻

Love, love, love this♥️♥️. I've been bumping Aenima this week on my work commute! You go through tool phases (or at least I do). It's impossible to pick a favorite but I definitely get stuck on certain songs/albums. Have to force myself to listen to something different! Also, you should slaughterama by Gwar for 13 days of Halloween 😁
This is one of my favorite Tool songs simply because they have two versions that are equally badass. What other band does that shit? Haha
Also, of course Smoke likes the studio version more... the chonk is strong with this one!
fuck yeah, you guys finally did it! I requested this so soo soooo long ago. Thanks.
Pushit studio is incredible, and love Dir eier von Satan, this is going to make for a great reaction!
I've had the privilege to hear both of these tracks live in concert and yes, I was sober as a bird but felt high- i felt high physically, emotionally, spiritually, and literally didn't have any type of narcotic or alcohol. Im very happy to welcome you both to the TOOL army and very proud of you both gentlemen. Keep it going!!!!!!
I'm completely very fucking jealous!! That means you just so happened to be in the crowd the first and only time this band has ever played Die Eier Von Satan live. FUCK!! There is something so freaking cool about that. I bet you probably didn't realize that was a historical moment in the history of the band. Everyone in that audience are the only people to have ever heard the song live. That means you were in Universal City, CA on 12/19/1996.
You guys are one of if not the best reactors. Certainly the best Tool reactors. You just get it. You let the sounds wash over you. You give in and let it take you for the ride like you would with a psychedelic.
Watching your expressions, then mid-way stating, "I feel...high"...yes. You have now fully transcended into a fully immersed TOOL fanatic. This is what I have been waiting to see from every TOOL vid you've done up to this point. Welcome. One of us....One of us....One of us.....
Hm. I had listened to the album before, but I revisited 'Pushit' recently, and I've been listening to it on repeat.
The other day, as it opened - with the violins - this came to mind: "In the discomfort of tension, the burdensome disruption of violence is welcomed.
"
I don't know what interpretations have been made out there; sometimes I will look for them at times, but other times I don't. In this song, I think about people who have been put through extreme situations: who have been forced/manipulated to do things they didn't want to (Stockholm Syndrome perhaps?).
And it just makes me think about how it doesn't matter how powerful one is - when a person manipulate someone else, they can sort of deliberate the effects they produce on the surface, but they do not have full control of what comes out the other side. The manipulated - put through the extreme - may just find out exactly what it is they're capable of.
So to me, this song can be about abuse, manipulation, and what it takes to escape such a cycle.
Near the end, the song refers back to its opening line. So it is cyclic in a way - maybe in more than one way... The lyrics refer to being somewhere the person doesn't want to be... There's strong feelings of attachment involved... And the narrative does end in a violent climax. Also, "Choke this infant here before me. / What is this but my reflection?" makes me think of the loss of innocence...
Somehow, 'Pushit' also makes me think of 'Fear Inoculum' (the song). I feel they have similar - or at least overlapping - themes. But this one allows you to experience the tension more closely - while 'Fear Inoculum' feels like a trance and an awakening at the same time.
It's almost like they're not grieving the loss of innocence at the end, you know? The answer is not "going back", but inoculating oneself with these potential evils and attempting to build an immunity.
Awesome guys..... love your vids..... but its time now, you guys have so gotta do lost keys/rosetta stoned!!! U just gotta do it!!! Peace from Aus 🇦🇺🤘
The studio version has always been one of my favorite songs of theirs. That said, I do like the Salival version of ‘Third Eye’ better than the studio.
Finally, my recommendation:
‘Undertow’ -> Might be one of their more underrated songs.
You guys make me wish I could go back to the first time I experienced these songs
Maynard is an amazing vocalist, hard to nail down what his best performances are, for me a bunch that come to mind are Lateralus, Culling Voices, Rosetta Stoned, The Grudge, and Vicarious. But ask me tomorrow and I may give you a completely different list.
If it's for Halloween it's gotta have "Black #1" by Type O Negative.
Shout out to the trashtalkers army from Germany! I always enjoy reactors talking german, mostly doing reactions on Rammstein, our musical export top seller!
Good job so far and I have seen good explanations of Satan's eggs so I don't have to.
Instead of I highly recommend another Halloween- metal- song: Black No1 by Type-O-Negative ,a band you have definitely react to.
Black No1 would be the perfect song to step into the mind of Peter Steele (R.I.P.), who sadly passed away too early. He is one of the most remarkable persons, singers (that baritone still gets me chills),writer and bassplayers in metal history and I am lucky to have had the privilege to see them live, back that days touring with "Bloody Kisses".
Go get some satan's balls, sit down, relax and go on the 11 minute gothic trip,I promise you'll enjoy!
Great memories of my early twentieth ,when I used to have long hair instead of no hair rushing through my head listening to Type-O.
Anyway,I enjoy your reactions, thank you and have fun! Cheers!
Just mentioned that you got a german surname. Btw., greetings from Germany.
You two have been Tool fans your entire lives, you just know it. There’s no turning back man.
Dude... I love the confused looks over what is essentially a recipe for Pot Cookies
Spoken in German
TOOL - Sober (studio version)
Studio version is way better IMO!! Probably my fav song right now :D
Definitely agree with studio version being better. It catches the necessary anger in the lyrics.
100%
You gotta watch this song live in this version. Where he wrestles a fan on stage and keeps singing the whole time. Its awesome
“Die eir von satan” is supposed to sound like a rally speech. But it is actually a recipe for cookies. Then “push it” is kind of a play on words. The way Maynard says “push it on me” it almost sounds like he is saying “push shit on me.” Basically saying I will always buy what you’re selling even if it’s shit.
Two’fer Tool Tuesday! Can’t beat that.
Pushit is a masterpiece.
Code Blue by T.S.O.L would be a funny, and extremely dark 13 days song.
Ha Code Blue it's been a long time since i heard that song . now I'll have to dive back into some punk
probably one of my favourites. have a very personal connection with this one.
Maynard does have an instrumental quality to his voice and he uses it superbly. For more and imho his best, listen to more A Perfect Circle. (Fiddle and the Drum, off the Emotive album for example)
As a German the reaction to Die Eier von Satan cracks me up every time!
It is a recipe for cookies but a specific type of Ceremonial Wedding Cookies with hash I think it's culturally done for some parts of Mexico or Spain or both
That’s a Dope Superman hat to go with the dope ass song. It literally is almost superhuman the entire intro and two different versions and every other phenomenal nuances only they can provide! Can I get an Amen?!
Making a new pitch-fork....😂 😂😂. I’m dying Hollywood. I dig the studio version too. This song effs you up.
Maynard at the beginning of Pushit Salival. “We’ll be looking at on of our songs in a different way, under a different light”
So we can hopefully kind of see it for the first time. We'd like to try that for you tonight. Is that ok?
It's more than okay!
I remember back in the day, putting my headphones with my portable cd player in hand and just laid down on my bed listening to this whole album from A to Z without even worrying how long the whole thing lasted and then when done, somehow, it felt like coming to, from what? who cares!! but it was like I had just returned to earth at that moment, totally hypnotic.
Maynard's best melodic/beautiful vocals were on Aenima, best power/screams on Undertow, and best lyrics on Lateralus.
Not sure how you feel about stepping outside of metal for your 13 Days of Halloween, but here's a few suggestions
Black #1 by Type O Negative
Human Fly by The Cramps
Ichabod by The Legendary Shack Shakers
Stigmata by Ministry
Or My Name Is Mud by Primus for its creepy vibe
Oh, another great Halloween song, not metal, is Lullaby off Cure's Disintegration album. It's got a great monster.
Good song to zone out too.!!! You both will be blown away!!
Live, the whole crowd during "Remember I'll always love you, as I throw your fucking throat away..."
Ugh you know you're alive in that moment...
I LOVE how you guys are nw getting into the more obscure long-form, multi-track pieces! Cant wait for y'all to do Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned & Disposition/Reflection/Triad AKA "The Holy Trinity", also revisit Descending with the lead in track "Legion Inoculant" followed by Culling voices, its kinda one big track.
I LOVE the looks of utter confusion on your faces listening to "Die Eier von Satan" lol.... wish I could see your reaction to the English translation to the lyrics!
The fact that the song is a cookie recipe makes it just that much better.
Good hash brownie recipe comming up in German
Hey, nice that you can feel TOOL!! I hear TOOL 30 years.... 😊👊
Greetings from Germany
Loved this reaction and I’m a subscriber, and yes they make you feel like you’re on drugs it’s insane, keep doing what you do.
I'm trippin' a little watching Hollywood be all serious listening as a dude reads a recipe in German to reverso-industrial ambience.... big grin on my face.
😃😄😁😆😅🤣
So funny dude vibing to a cookie recipe. Was guilty myself the first time though. AND NO EGGS!
Lmao!! When the first guitar lick on Pushit kicked in both of you two looked like you left your bodies and disappeared into the ether!!
Seriously though...how are they so good? Coming up with such original music that just lures you in and gets your brain going. 🧠🤯
This is the best track, Die Eier Von Satan is actually the recipe for Sugar Cookies w/no Egg. I fucking love these tracks
At risk of repeating myself: Regardless of your genre preference, Tool is just truly excellent music, and in these videos you are required and made to truly sit down and just listen to it. You don't do anything else, but listen to great music. There is no shit to do, there is no pretense (I mean there is some, I see you, but it's cool), there is no music genere. There is just sound and closed eyes. That is how true music, music artistry is meant to be received. Meant to be heard and meant to be FELT.
Cheers from tool army, and cheers from myself.
This may be outside your usual style, but seeing as it's holloween season try "oingo boingo - dead man's party". Also excellent music, 80's style but you can get into the mood.
My favorite tool song changes all the time, but i always come back to this version of Pushit as the average favorite song
