  • I review the Altra Lone Peak 7 trail running shoes for hiking specifically. I hiked more than 40 miles in these shoes including an 85 mile thru-hike from Bologna to Florence in Italy.
I review these shoes for COMFORT, TRACTION, STABILITY, PROTECTION AND TIME-TO-DRY.

Have you tried barefoot shoes yet? Once My feet got used to barefoot shoes, I had to throw away all my normal hikers. There’s definitely a break in period and that’s probably what you experienced with the Altra’s, since they have 2 of the 3 attributes of barefoot shoes (foot shaped toe box and zero drop). My feet are much stronger and I cured a few foot problems I had. Now I love walking more than ever! I’d love to see you review some! Take care.

How long would I need to get used to barefoot shoes, do you think? I usually hike about 30-40 miles in each shoe I test. Would that be enough?

@@Dusty_Hikers it might be enough but everyone is different. For me, it wasn’t a difficult adjustment but some people go through an adjustment period that can last a few weeks. Since you’re an active hiker you probably have strong feet/calves/ankles so it shouldn’t be too bad. Some brands to look at include Vivobarefoot, Lems, Freet, Xero and Belenka. All of these brands have a hiking shoe in their lineup.

Hello! It's great comparing the shoes. May I know what shoes you compared the lone peak 7 with?

Hi, I am currently trying theses shoes but I find that the front on my legs are really sore after use?

Hi! I think that is because of the zero drop. It takes time for your body to get used to it. How are you now?
