Fuckin excellent cover. Couldn't get my head around how the chorus was played until now so thanks for that
Jack Airey Thanks man , glad it helped :)
Colm Dowling same here! thank you!
+Jack Airey Yeah I assumed it was double kick triplets, not floor tom triplets.
+Nick Reilly I meant dbl kick double stroke rolls :(
same here, until I found that dave doesnt use double kick.
The chorus is what seems hard but it's actually easy, keeping the fast bass drum hits during all the verses is the real challenge of that song.
It's very deceptive. A testament to Dave Grohl's musicianship
What technique do i use for this?
That chorus is so goddamn unique, gotta love it.
hands down best drummer on the internet
Delta empire
My favorite with josh steffen
Agreed
For this style of covers.. he definitely is. But on the polar opposite end of the spectrum is Troy Wright who I enjoy a lot more (but that’s personal preference). Of course cooperdrummer, matt mcguire etc are all overrated and shit
What about Kye Smith
This is one of the most fun to play songs ever created, going Gorilla Mode on that chorus part is one of the best feelings ever
Can't stop watch this cover is insane
This looks like so much fun I wish I could play this but I need more practice :(
Felix Arndt Then PRACTICE IT!!! Haha
Did you practice it?
Holy shit
My 11 month old daughter will stop whatever she is doing just to give this video 100% of her attention. Sometimes she’ll watch this and bang her toys together.
That floor tom sounds so good
Brilliant! I gonna learn this song and will definitely use your performance as the reference
Damn that chit just made my day! Hats off to you sir
Keep the QOTSA covers coming man, you're doing every one of them justice and then some.
I wanted to ask what kind of drum heads you've got and how you prefer to tune your drums? (like the batterhead being tighter than the bottom one and vice versa, using moongels and other dampers like e-rings etc)
Cheers man , eh i use evans ec2's . Im not a great person to be asking about tuning tbh , il just tune it to what ever sounds good to my ear. I use moon gel to get rid of some of the nasty overtones.
Haha, no worries. Appreciate all the same!
Colm Dowling
I know you probably don't do requests man but I just had a list of songs I'd love to hear you cover anyway! These are ones I've been playing (trying to play) on my electronic kit and I fucking love the drum tracks on them.
Give the Mule What He Wants - QOTSA
Don't Speak (I Came to Make a Bang) - Eagles of Death Metal
We're An American Band - Grand Funk Railroad
Renegades of Funk - Rage Against The Machine
Fortune Faded - Red Hot Chili Peppers
The Fun Machine Took a Shit and Died - QOTSA
Out of the Black - Royal Blood
Little Monster - Royal Blood
Come on Over - Royal Blood
Jimmy Olsen's Blues - Spin Doctors
Elephant - Tame Impala
Elephants - Them Crooked Vultures
No One Loves Me & Neither Do I - Them Crooked Vultures
Sabotage - Beastie Boys
Drain The Blood - The Distillers
Holy shit man, this is fucking awesome. You’re beating the shit out of those drums just like Dave man. Brilliant cover
How does this only have 64,000 views? Absolutely outstanding.
Perfect cover I would really like to hear more QOTSA drum songs by you
Its such a nice drum groove how the 2 sections change over .
🤘🏽🤘🏽Hell yeah!!
THIS COVER IS FUCKING PERFECT
i seriously thought since they recorded the drums and cymbals separate for the album they took libertations on the chorus and it would be impossible to play. obviously not tho, crazy.
Discovered this song accidentially this morning. Omg, the refrain ist outstanding, you smashed it. Helped me lot how this works, thanks!
rock solid dude, great performance
Yes!🤘
Dope. Appreciate how you drop straight into it. No fluff here.
Absolutely superb drum rendition of one of my favourite QOTSA songs.
Hats off to you chap, quality.
Really crazy man
So THAT’S how you play the chorus. Rad cover!
This song is a beast
Couldn't figure out he was playing the cymbals during the chorus. Thanks man!
Awesome cover, gonna study this
Wow fucking amazing, congrats man
Nice job man. The chorus is extremely entertaining to watch played.
Nice. I LOVE the drums on this song. Well the whole song is genius, but Dave is really creative and he plays the drums in a very musical way.
I always thought it was two drum tracks in the chorus but I realized I was wrong after watching live videos. Dave Grohl man... Perfect cover! Cheers!
The cymbals were recorded in a separate track to give it a fuller sound.
Quick question, how did you manage to keep that hi hat going? With the kicks in the verses I've tried so many times and it confuses me is there an actual pattern?
Just practice man. No its a straight pattern on the hi hats.
Guessing you've figured it out 4 years later, but for anyone else, your keeping time on the hi hats. If you can't keep the hi hats going consistently you're not playing in time. Try playing with a metronome while doing everything else and you should easily be able to pick up where you're speeding up/slowing down
Perhaps a little late to the party, but this is some drumming man f'ing hell.
Wow, great cover dude.
Cheers man
Toca pra caralho!
dude you are having way too much fun. inspiring! keep groovin
fucking kick ass dude , very well done!
Sick bro. Tidy!!
Bro🥶🥶🥶
this is such a gnarly drum cover, right on man
INSANE SONG
Really well done, brother
fucking hell man, this song became a while ago one of my favourites of all time and now I feel like I found it again and im pointless how awesome the song and difficulty on drums is Great work, wishng you well
Great cover! Love that album.
Amazing
Fricken Brutal. I love it!!!
Dude! What a badass! How does one dislike such a video?
Excellent job! perfection
So good!!
someday i will play this song on drums
Killing it! Awesome
That must be so fun and exhausting to play! Not highly technical but running steady like a mashine! Awesome cover!
Nice drumskills!
Que linha GENIAL de bateria! Cortesia do mestre Grohl 🤘
Love it
If I could summarise the drums for this song in one word it would be "stamina".
the thing is, it's very easy what they do on drums, but the problem is the speed. And you have to be at least a year of expirience to be able to play
Amazing playing!
Killed it!!
Awesome!
Yo I just watched most of your QOSTA covers. Loved them all! Keep it up man! you earned a new subscriber!
Great job !!🤟
Goooooood Job!
Awesome cover brother
noooo it sounds so much better if you use two different toms in the
chorus (floor + something). but still that's some sweet drums. Long Live
The Queen
of England that is...
Nice work.
ohh men !! look the Hit Hat!
More QOTSA covers plz. I’ve learned so much from your videos.
Glad they help man.
@@ColmDowling You have helped me so much! From this to the Aneurysm fill, to watching you play Geek USA. Your videos are awesome! please keep them coming!
NNNNICE
You are so good!
--> cool beats,
Nice independence !
Are QOTSA your favourite band? They’re my favourite ☺️
Proper, surprised it was that clear with the crash.
Okay it is an old post, but I needed to say I like the tone of your snare. . .
Muito Foda. Parabens.
Those poor cymbals look brand new and you're beating them half to death. 🥁😀🥁😀
Is it just me or are the drums in this track a mix of Helmet - Unsung and Sepultura - Territory intros?
Great man! I enjoyed it!
glad ya liked it bud
fuckin' ace man
10/10
I realise why double bass was invented now
That's quite hard to play, huh? Great cover, bro...
Josh homme in an alternate universe
You sir rock. May I ask you what kind of exercises you did to master hand-feet coordination? I'm just starting
+ph0emix Just keep practicing man , no great exercise tips unfortunately
I don't know if it's kind of late but I can help you out. Start with singles on a practice pad, or snare, whatever suits, play the hi-hat with foot on 1, 2, 3 and 4 and bass drum on 'a' of 1, and of 2, 'a' of 3, and the 'and' of 4. Once you're comfortable with that move to other rudiments like doubles, paradiddles, double paradiddles or triple paradiddles. It can get kind of challenging when moving to the paradiddles, double paradiddles especially. So take it slow, and then pace it up.
thank you. its never too late! im just turning 20 this year :)
My internet went out at 0:53 I’ve never been more pissed
Buena lección gracias cabronazo por mostrar este video he aprendido a interpretar los ritmos en mi batería. 👍👌👌👌
But this is not a lesson bro, just a cover
This are ec2 frosted/coated no??
Fucking BRILLLIANT!
I commented before but youtube got gay and didn't post it... Anyway, I found your vids through a related video to mine (drum cover for Shallow, Porcupine tree). I've already seen many of your vids, but this one is, by far, the best fucking one! YOU FUCKING RULE! Awesome drumming through the chorus!
what snare drum is this, anyone please?
BUENAAAAAA
Man! Wonderful job!!
How you got this music without drums? Can you share? :D
Carlos Eduardo Debiasi I just drum over the original track man
Do you play by drumless tracks? And if so, how do you get them? By the way, awesome cover :)
Thanks , no man i just drum over the original track
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sick, but doesn't Dave Grohl play this with two bass pedals instead of using the toms during the chorus?
No Grohl never uses double bass pedals man
Russell Webster I don’t believe so, Dave Grohl doesn’t touch Double bass for anything besides metal
Double bass would make it too easy XD, besides, Grohl never uses double bass.
just can't hear the floortom,cool anyway :)
First
u arent and no one cares
