Lollipop file worked like a charm for me. God bless Abdul. Running it on a MXQ DZ. Was able to install the file from a usb stick since I couldn't find a SD card handy.
Just followed this and it's worked a treat. Turned an old useless box (that wouldnt even load RUclips) into a functioning box I can use in my sons room. Thanks.
My biggest problem was understanding how to download the firmware at first because you did not go into detail and zoomed by that part. Once I was able to do that I went through the process following the instructions. I even got to the part where it said to reboot. I did notice that several error scrolled up before the upgrade said "Done". End result, it did not reboot, and now I believe the box is unusable. I paid about $140 for the box loaded with Kodi and a build; it also included Arabic programming channels that lasted for about a year. Now that I know a bit more about these android tv boxes I recommended consumers just by a new box. You can still get new boxes under $30 that come with 7.1 OS which are able to run all the new stuff out there. I'm seeing some on line that appear to come with a usb mini keyboard as well, all inclusive. Thanks for you video it was truly helpful and well presented. It was just my luck that the firmware did not work on my MXq box.
Just came across this video. First thanks for the bang on tutorial the only problem I had which I sorted quite quick was the lollipop os file wouldn't show on SD card which was a 4gb card. So I put it on a 16gb usb thumb stick put it in usb one and repeated the process with success thanks again
couple big secrets to this get missed by jumping the gun.. assumed I could pull the sdcard on the reboot, didn't appear to be the case, but maybe it would work as normally does.. I saw the boot into OS take a bit longer with it in.. maybe it's because that sdcard is huge. Thank you for pointing out to pick wifi & just once.. got myself locked out of setup 3x by not picking [just once] & [wifi]. in always mode it never let me put in a wifi password or skip the process.. oddly, it lets you skip the process when you pick wifi & just once. That part made me really happy. I successfully setup an IIOT box with only 4 gig of memory & the s805 chip. Took a lot longer for the google play store to connect than it did with the the original 4.4.2 firmware, but the picture appears far better on the tv than it was on 4.4.2.
@@brantizsak7695 try this. Shut the box down, and if you have anything plugged into any of the USB ports, unplug anything that was plugged into USB/sd ports. Once all the ports are empty, unplug the power adapter from the wall for at least 30 to 60 seconds. Then with nothing plugged into the USB/sd ports, plug the adapter back in the wall ans boot it back up. See if it fixed the wifi. I know if sounds crazy, but it has worked for people.

Erm, if you mean dual boot LibreELEC then yeah needs left in unless you install to internal - You've commented on the lollipop then no, once lolipop installed it can be removed
Tried about a dozen different files but this is the only one which worked!!!!! many many thanks -- just one remark .. my recovery filename had (2) in it which prevented it running .. renamed it recovery.img and it worked.
Many thanks for your help which has allowed me to update my old MXQ droid player from 4.4.2 to 5.11 For some reason the SD card would not allow me to read the zip file but placing it on a separate USB stick and changing the settings at the install changed worked fine. I had search the net for sometime but yours was far and away the best explanation of how to update this s type of box. I still have one or two odd things to sort out such as the remote has ceased working but otherwise all is fine. Thanks again.

I ran your steps to upgrade it firmware to 5.1 but I got an invalid footer error. I'm running this with a 1GB usb drive formated on 2048kilobytes. Do you think your rom is not appropiate for this board or we can do some updates to make it work on this B.S805.5 board?
Great video! I got it to work first time round. I was wondering though if there is a fix for the shutdown function? I know it's a known bug for this ROM, but since it was released over a year ago maybe something can fix it. Also I read that the Power On function of the IR remote is in the bootloader (not the remote.conf). Does this mean that, even when the blue light (power down) function is fixed, that you can't power on the mediabox with the IR remote (since this rom uses a custom bootloader)? Thanks again :)
these boxes are slow, give it time to load and it will work. If its been loading for an hour then I guess it does not work. PS: Your sd card speed also matters

I had bought a few m8s running s805 cortex a5 boxes and this worked flawless, I grabbed the remote confog from another box so a little tip would be to get your remote config before you flash, my wifi also is still working. thanks

Hi Mathew congrats on your videos they are really usefull . I was having a problem with a MQX clone with S805 chipset a transpeed model from some ecommerce in china. Its a very old model with a 2015 firmware could not get the exact one through a variety of sites in china and Russia were it was sold a lot few years ago. I use the TWRP image file using the procedure you told in another video making backup first and then tried to install lolipos 5.1.1 from the projetc index files. I was sucessful on instalation firmware rurns ok for a little while but after a few days the box starts to freeze and need to disconenct and reconect to make it run again and few hours later the only way to start the box its reinstalling the ABDULlolipop zip file. Is there another way to install the firmware without TWRP? making a clean and new installation? erasing everything from the original firmware i think something from the old firmware its corrupting the abdul lolipop firmware making this anoying behavior appear after a succesful intalation? Thank's in advanced for your support.
I just tried a different recovery and now my box is trying to load teamwiz. Only problem now is it loads the teamwiz screen and then the box shuts my tv off. And it won't power back on til I unplug the HDMI cable from the back of the box. Have you ever seen this before? If so, how do I fix it?
MXQ PROJECT what I mean is what type of software image you use. For an example if I ultra iso image software all is image are yellow. And if I down load any program over the internet I need a software to unzip...for example I use Winrar or Ziprar and that what I mean. So what type of software you use on your computer for zip folders and image disc file...?

There are additional new files on linked you provided. My box stuck on the first logo "amlogic s805"... Won't boot TWRP, or even Android. It boots to Android recovery if I remove the SD card, and or remove recovery.img file. If I attempt to load Abdul's program through Android recovery>SD it doesn't work obviously. Any idea why red screen doesn't show up?

I have no idea what board I have in my MXQ but I can tell you it's the Beelink version with the red strip in the corner and power button on the top. It also is the 1gb ram version, not 2gb. If it's possible on this box, what would be the easiest way to flash this unit so I can get Krypton on this box? Doesn't matter to me if I flash Android Lolipop or your version of openelec. As long as I can run Krypton! I should also mention I do NOT have the original FW on this box, I am running openelec with KodI 15.2.

One thing I notice is that the box doesn't show a blue light but it shows a red light all the time instead of blue, is that a problem even if the box is working good?.... Are you able to upload the s805 5.1.1 firmware to another download site. I can see the mxq project site is down. I have flashed a 4.4.2 K1 firmware to my mxq box. It is working but I am unable to use certain apps i.e. IPTV ect. I have had a good look for the past week to find a download that is similar but can't find anything. Even searching for abduls lollipop firmware but I'm really struggling. It offers a download but the source has been removed.I have downloaded other IMG files that advise it's for the mxq but when running through twrp they don't show unless I need to use win32Disk to flash to my SD card. Please help thanks scott
My wifi doesn't work on it after the upgrade. I see that it only supports certain chipsets. Would you suggest downloading a different firmware or is the box no good?
For those who can't seem to get the remote control working or u might find urself not being able to use most of the buttons like home or back button. Download the stock 4.4.2 firmware open zip and and open the other zip in there and find remote.conf from system/etc and extract copy and paste ur boxe's etc folder. Restart and u should be good to go
I filled the install process and made it to the reboot section. After it reboots the screen is black. Do I wait or should I see something? If I put the SD card back in, it goes to the install page
this install worked great everything works. but i have one question. is there a way to shrink the screen down its seems to be larger and hangs off screen a little bit. is there a setting im missing?

hello there i managed to upgrade to lollipop on my mx pro s805 box and got to the first screen where you choose language and click yellow button. when it goes onto the next page to search for wifi there are no networks showing and it says i need to turn wifi on to search for networks...i cannot do that because the box is still in standby mode! can you help please?

installed on a mxv s805 it has a on/off button on top, it starts and can see the boot screen but i have to hold the on button. but keeps rebooting. edit so I reset my box and reinstalled this rom. then held the power until it booted, took a while. so now ///i am going to open this mxv and solder the power button so it is always on.

Everytime I pop in the SD card and push the reset down when I plug in the power I keep getting a NO COMMAND line with an Android robot lying down. Do I not have the correct files on the card? I left the Lollipop folder zipped and copied the recovery file just as it was shown in the video. I am using an MXQ 4K black box.

Hi, I installed this update and its always repeat the welcome and select language, after connecting to wifi comes back to this screen. and I cannot goto recovery mode hardware rest is now also not working. all i see is welcome screen select languange choose wifi and come back to same step. there is only always red light on the tvbox. Everything went nice and smoothly, after finished my update I realised there is no WIFI signal at all. My MXQ remote become useless. This updates makes my box to a mobile phone. Thats weird. Is there any way I can go back ?
flashed well. No problems using the wireless keyboard/mouse pad - but I can't get HDMI audio to work - I have to use audio out to TV... is this normal?

Your welcome, you can easily sort out your remote using our tutorial on this channel - You will need to grab the appropriate remote.config file first.

Its a bit of a mess to be fair, the DEV walked away from it 'we think' shame but not a lot we can do with it at moment
If it seems to not work and hangs or reset loop. WAIT ATLEAST 10 mins. It worked for me eventually by itself!

Use twrp to wipe the box completely
Would stick with KitKat mind as lollipop for this is experimental at best - plenty other developments thou for the mxq box

What image software your using on your computer cause yours is blue and what type of extract file software your using, it Bitser freeware right.

tried this. it didnt restart and when i press power button i just get a FREAKTAB web address logo in middle of screen and now won't go into recovery

I tried on the weekend and buggered it up. now I watched the video I am gonna try again. only question I have is does the remote control work for this 5.1.1?

I have no idea what board I have in my MXQ but I can tell you it's the Beelink version with the red strip in the corner and power button on the top. It also is the 1gb ram version, not 2gb. If it's possible on this box, what would be the easiest way to flash this unit so I can get Krypton on this box? Doesn't matter to me if I flash Android Lolipop or your version of openelec. As long as I can run Krypton! I should also mention I do NOT have the original FW on this box, I am running openelec with KodI 15.2.

One thing I notice is that the box doesn't show a blue light but it shows a red light all the time instead of blue, is that a problem even if the box is working good?....

Are you able to upload the s805 5.1.1 firmware to another download site. I can see the mxq project site is down. I have flashed a 4.4.2 K1 firmware to my mxq box. It is working but I am unable to use certain apps i.e. IPTV ect. I have had a good look for the past week to find a download that is similar but can't find anything. Even searching for abduls lollipop firmware but I'm really struggling. It offers a download but the source has been removed.I have downloaded other IMG files that advise it's for the mxq but when running through twrp they don't show unless I need to use win32Disk to flash to my SD card. Please help thanks scott
My wifi doesn't work on it after the upgrade. I see that it only supports certain chipsets. Would you suggest downloading a different firmware or is the box no good?
Box is fine - Why not try the various other systems available, such as LibreELEC
I need this firmware but with RTL8189ETV wifi chip support? Does anyone have that. This is working but no wifi.
For those who can't seem to get the remote control working or u might find urself not being able to use most of the buttons like home or back button. Download the stock 4.4.2 firmware open zip and and open the other zip in there and find remote.conf from system/etc and extract copy and paste ur boxe's etc folder. Restart and u should be good to go

MXQ PROJECT unfortunately they didnt work for me. Only ok and arrow buttons worked rest were dead so i grabbed the stocked one n it worked perfectly
I filled the install process and made it to the reboot section. After it reboots the screen is black. Do I wait or should I see something? If I put the SD card back in, it goes to the install page

this install worked great everything works. but i have one question. is there a way to shrink the screen down its seems to be larger and hangs off screen a little bit. is there a setting im missing?

i looked through there. i might have been too excited to see because till now it was just a plastic POS sitting in my living room, now i might be able to actually use it lol
You need to go to your display settings and change the screen over-scan

hello there i managed to upgrade to lollipop on my mx pro s805 box and got to the first screen where you choose language and click yellow button. when it goes onto the next page to search for wifi there are no networks showing and it says i need to turn wifi on to search for networks...i cannot do that because the box is still in standby mode! can you help please?

Hi guys, do you know if this version carry a module for use dongle bluetooth ?? Or if in the future, there is the possibility that the box have the option to add a BT USB, so on blue light and work fine. A lot people need this featuring. :D

The logo freezed about three hours. Nothing heppended. I have tried for 2 times.
installed on a mxv s805 it has a on/off button on top, it starts and can see the boot screen but i have to hold the on button. but keeps rebooting. edit so I reset my box and reinstalled this rom. then held the power until it booted, took a while. so now ///i am going to open this mxv and solder the power button so it is always on.
Any luck using this method on a S82B Box??? Im trying to find a way to update it without bricking it.

Hey Mathew. Tried the ROM, was able to upgrade, but didnt liked the way the box behaved. I want to go back to 4.4.2 Kit Kat (OEM), but my box is an S805 with RTL8188 Wifi.
Could you guide me to were I could get Kit Kat for a S805 with RTL8188 module?

Hello, When I hit Reboot system it shows the FREAKTAB screen for a good 30 seconds and then it takes me back to TWRP?

A new career for a former "brick". It's not compatible with the IR controller but this is not matter because of wireless KB-M . THX again.
Everytime I pop in the SD card and push the reset down when I plug in the power I keep getting a NO COMMAND line with an Android robot lying down. Do I not have the correct files on the card? I left the Lollipop folder zipped and copied the recovery file just as it was shown in the video. I am using an MXQ 4K black box.
this is not for the MXQ 4K, you will have a rockchip or S905 SOC - this is for the S805 SOC

Hi, I installed this update and its always repeat the welcome and select language, after connecting to wifi comes back to this screen. and I cannot goto recovery mode hardware rest is now also not working. all i see is welcome screen select languange choose wifi and come back to same step. there is only always red light on the tvbox. Amlogic S805, Sumavision BOX.

Yeah, known issue. Need to reinstall and instead of selecting 'always' select 'just once' at the start of setup

Everything went nice and smoothly, after finished my update I realised there is no WIFI signal at all. My MXQ remote become useless. This updates makes my box to a mobile phone. Thats weird. Is there any way I can go back ?
