Mitsubishi Lancer Found Abandoned in Storage Unit! Will it Run?

- In this video, we purchase a Mitsubishi Lancer that was found abandoned in a mini storage unit for at least 4 years. The paint is destroyed and it has not cranked or run since left. We attempt to get it running in this video and do an inspection. Was it an amazing find or a complete disaster? We also set up an inflatable paint booth and check out our new paint gun.

You guys have gotten a gem of a car so what it may have some surface rust and some minor imperfections but the main thing is you got yourselves and awesome car cheaper than at today*s high prices

In Malaysia , some people decide to fully convert it to Evo because it its cheaper that way than buying the real one
Yes Evo’s are very expensive. Would be a lot cheaper to convert

I love it that you are challenging yourselves. And boy, you are not making it an easy project to start with when it comes to painting. It may be obvious but only use the Booth for painting. Do all the rest of the dismantling and prep in the garage. Good luck on the project. (PS - Fill the tank up with some premium gas and an additive. Change the Fuel Filter too.)
Yes sir. We will dismantle and sand in the garage. Going back white would have been too easy. We wanted to go all out. Lol.

Factory rims are 4x100 and the set that you bought are 5x114. You can do a conversion with lancer ralliart or Outlander hubs discs etc from pull a part.it's a simple job

"I know how you teenagers are" .. I still have a system in our F-350 :) (upgrades coming too!) That booth looks pretty great, I'm excited to see how it goes. I've been using the HF paint cups for while now, (and also the basic 20$ guns with a 1.4 tip. Works well for me once you dial in your gun pressure and fan for your needs.
The paint booth is very nice and high quality. It’s love bug season here so no way to paint outside.
Definitely want one of these as a basic daily. Just throw on some rims and it's good to go for me.

The Patina looks amazing. I would leave the paint alone and just try to keep it that way.

I can't wait to see this completed! I am surprised that you didn't find mice in it. I don't know what it is about white paint on cars. I have a 1996 pearl white tricoat Tbird with 74,000 miles, and the paint is coming off of the roof. The highway patrol Crown Vics in my state were under recall because of the white paint coming off
I was surprised too there was no rat damage.
I can't wait to see this one paintedp, my neighbor had one of them broke down in their driveway for about 4 years .I bought it for my son. Ironically it was about four and a quarter to I paid LOL. They have all kind of aftermarket stuff for that particular car, the one I bought for my boy is a ralliart. We're planning on painting it sassy grass green, with a wing on the back. I think every lanzar I have seen has the air condition nob broke off LOL God bless

That's gonna be a lot of work, i would paint the whole car in cement gray, the new paint booth looks great. 👍🏻

Maybe just paint it all gray and then put black wrap on the roof and hood?
@@robertboyer5498 I thought about a carbon fiber wrap. Not sure if are skilled enough to do a good wrap job yet.
i agree on this one, this is going to be a lot of work, and its so exciting to do but I'm not with the black roof, hood, and trunk along with the dechroming of the grille, its a ricer move imho. Just make it one color and put decent wheels and tires, or don't mind me haha. Props on a great project car.

I find it funny how you mentioned how you're going to have a car RUclips channel without knowing how to paint a car.
So I was helping my grandma sell my grandpa's car because when I put her number she automatically accepted 2 scams. So I told her the heck with that I will put my number. Within 20 minutes of me posting it I had quite a few people interested. The first dude shows up and he test drives it all over town with me. I mentioned to him how it needs a battery and spark plugs. We get back to my grandma's house and he starts telling me how I have it for an amazing price and he's not even going to try to haggle with me and I told him of course I wouldn't accept it anyways. He then goes on to tell me about how he's trying to get into the business of reselling cars and how he was hoping it would just be a simple paint job. But he has no idea how to change spark plugs or a battery on a car. I straight up told him well then you're in the wrong business. he literally declined the car because he doesn't know how to do the simplest things on it. But like I said I had plenty of people waiting so I sold it to the next person.

My 97 Accord EX is currently abandoned since 2021 my insurance company refused to insure it, because I need to get a safety inspection done even though I owned it since July of 2015 if I can get a fake safety certificate I'm wondering if they'll also ask for photos of the car because it's modified.

Mitsubishi use to make bullet proof cars, that's why they went out of business because the cars kept running and no one bought a newer model. I had a Lancer that was still running at 470k miles when I sold it!
Mitsubishis are great cars! We have only had it for like a month now and we love it!
I'd be changing out the timing belt pretty soon.
I’m pretty sure it has a timing chain and not a belt but I’ll look into that.

Единстсвенный недостаток это - расход бензина, на фоне современных малолитражных автомобилей Lancer по расходу бензина можно сравнить с полноприводным Subaru. У меня также точно как и у тебя салонный фильтр был забит землей полностью, что даже не было видно фильтрующих рёбер, и как следствие заклинивающий тросик печки из за которого приходится руой тянуться до рычага под панелью что бы отрегулировать поток воздуха! А так если ты с отцом толковые ребята то все отремонтируете ! Контент интересный ТАК ДЕРЖАТЬ !

Yo these cars ain't no joke I have a 2004 Lancer ralliart 2.4 I had it sit for about 4 years all I did was get a new battery and the thing started so quick with no problems I believe the engine is the 4G 69 and my car has 200k+ miles.....

put a volt meter on the alternator that will let you know what it's putting out
I did later off camera and it was 13 volts. I think the over revving caused it to do that.
Honestly I would've cleaned up the exterior, clear coat it to keep the current look, and then turn it into the ultimate sleeper because nobody would expect a beater Mitsubishi like this to really be capable of anything

That would be the 2003 ES version of the Lancer, same to this one albeit the front grill is outward yet they're still 2.0 L engines at it's core.

I never understood why the 06 had those paint issues. To the point I see a rusted roof of peeling paint and say yep thats an 06.

@@SwampBoysGarage it happens. That one is 4x114 just in case. Also be careful when buying rotors hubs and front struts. Have to specify 06 ES mine is an 05 es and its different. Or just buy front struts rotors hubs and drums for oz trim.
