    Do you have a favorite grinder brand? What features are important to you?

      Wish I could say I had a 2 x 72 to compare or have experience with the features to say. That definitely looks like a good grinder. I have been looking at the Ameribrades... guess we will see what I can do come tax time 😆

    I bought an AmeriBrade last fall. Great customer service. Well built, easy assembly. Variable speed motor was my big item, but most manufacturers provide that. Only got a 1hp motor but its all I need. Allows me to move to different material (metal, wood, leather) easily.

    • @TyrellKnifeworks
      @TyrellKnifeworks  2 года назад +1

      The Brodbeck grinder is a great machine! Ameribrade is a great brand too. The only downside to the Ameribrade is the 2” tooling arms. It makes all the arms non-standard (most are 1.5”) so if you ever get a second grinder that’s not an Ameribrade the arms won’t fit. That’s not a huge deal breaker though. Both are excellent machines. Thanks for watching.

    Wouldn’t a couple of counter sunk bolts solve the interference issue easier than welding and whatever?

    • @TyrellKnifeworks
      @TyrellKnifeworks  3 года назад

      The problem is that the holes are square to accept carriage bolts. It would be a better design to have those as tapped holes and have the hand nuts as male instead of female if you get what I mean. Right now I see no option other than welding the head and grinding it.

    • @TyrellKnifeworks

    • @TyrellKnifeworks
      @TyrellKnifeworks  3 года назад

      @@markkerr874 I already made my surface grinder attachment and had the 10” wheel so I just ordered the kit, 2hp with VFD and got the small wheel attachment and it was $2600 shipped to my door. That’s way cheaper than the KMG and it’s a top notch machine. You can get a discount if you listen to the KnifeTalk podcast and use the discount code. I think it’s 10%. I love my Brodbeck. Plus their customer service is top notch.

  • @brysonalden5414
    @brysonalden5414 3 года назад

    That's a much niftier grinder than my OBM. I particularly like the feature that allows you to very quickly change the angle of the platen; my OBM requires two bolts being undone, and setting the angle is thus very complicated and time consuming. I will have to think about retrofitting!
