❤ This song opens a part of my heart that I thought was long gone. I’m turning 60 this year and here I go wandering the world again. Don’t sit in the one place too long, you’ll get sad. Live it till it’s gone. Go make some good memories. Ash from Scotland 🏴
*Lyrics: Elle King - Jersey Giant* [Verse 1] I remember all them summers Playing 'til my fingers bled You'd sing the songs and I'd sing with you We'd get drunk and go to bed Looking back at all them memories Lord, I hate to sleep alone But if you ever get the notion That you need me, let me know [Chorus] 'Cause it's just two hours to get there, babe I can make it back 'bout an hour or so Hold you close against my skin Need a little warmth on a night so cold Singing songs you used to sing The one about the lady in the long black veil Should have seen the warning signs But Lord, I love to hear you wail High and lonesome, hard and strong Even if it was a little out of tune Hotter than socks on a jersey giant Lord, I thought you hung the moon Lord, I thought you hung the moon [Verse 2] I remember all them winters Drinking Woodford 'til we drowned We'd get wind about a party Bundle up and go to town Never worried 'bout the police Never worried much at all I miss those nights of reckless glory And I'd come back if you'd just call [Chorus] 'Cause it's just two hours to get there, babe I can make it back about an hour or so Hold you close against my skin Need a little warmth on a night so cold Singing songs you used to sing The one about the lady in the long black veil Should have seen the warning signs But Lord, I love to hear you wail High and lonesome, hard and strong Even if it was a little out of tune Hotter than socks on a jersey giant Lord, I thought you hung the moon [Bridge] I left town when we were over 'Cause it didn't feel the same Every backroad had a memory And every memory held your name [Chorus] 'Cause it's just two hours to get there babe I can make it back about an hour or so Hold you close against my skin Need a little warmth on a night so cold Singing songs you used to sing The one about the lady in the long black veil Should have seen the warning signs But Lord, I love to hear you wail High and lonesome, hard and strong Even if it was a little out of tune Hotter than socks on a jersey giant Lord, I thought you hung the moon Lord, I thought you hung the moon Songwriter: Tyler Childers Producers: Elle King and Charlie Worsham
@@mannybravo237 It's from an old saying "sexier than socks on a rooster" (also a Footloose quote!). A jersey giant is a chicken, and getting socks on one would be quite a rare feat! This special someone must've been truly one of a kind.

After hearing this song on SiriusXm "Outlaw Country", I made it a point to find the lyrics onscreen so I could understand it. Why do today's Country artists mumble so? You could easily understand every word they sang back in the 1970's. I think they mixed it differently back then for AM radio or something. Sturgill Simpson is today's worst mumbler, but they're all pretty bad. Other than that, I liked this song.
Written by Tyler Childers, this one's a gem.
*_Question:_*_ What is one of your favorite memories?_
......aaawww .....those times of sweet words, standing close, eyes focused. Those.......
sun set over the ocean 🌊🌊

Love this song from India (Bangalore)😘
@@seven7eleven11 whats up with 7/11
it’s a great version but nobody can beat the emotion tyler childers put into the original unreleased version
Her voice with this song is perfect. Doesn't matter who wrote it. Tyler Childers is a bad ass, by the way.
This version is 10x better
Are you sure ?🎉
I read somewhere he wrote this for her, and that they're friends.
Respect Tyler, but Elle has it in my opinion ❤
i love her voice
I just love this song. I keep playing it over and over! Elle King's music is fantastic, but I think her niche in with country music. What a voice!
The lyrics is so cute. Wishing someday I could find someone special and sing this song for him.🤍
I love this song!!! Greetings from Hungary!

[Verse 1]
I remember all them summers
Playing 'til my fingers bled
You'd sing the songs and I'd sing with you
We'd get drunk and go to bed
Looking back at all them memories
Lord, I hate to sleep alone
But if you ever get the notion
That you need me, let me know
[Chorus]
'Cause it's just two hours to get there, babe
I can make it back 'bout an hour or so
Hold you close against my skin
Need a little warmth on a night so cold
Singing songs you used to sing
The one about the lady in the long black veil
Should have seen the warning signs
But Lord, I love to hear you wail
High and lonesome, hard and strong
Even if it was a little out of tune
Hotter than socks on a jersey giant
Lord, I thought you hung the moon
Lord, I thought you hung the moon
[Verse 2]
I remember all them winters
Drinking Woodford 'til we drowned
We'd get wind about a party
Bundle up and go to town
Never worried 'bout the police
Never worried much at all
I miss those nights of reckless glory
And I'd come back if you'd just call
[Chorus]
'Cause it's just two hours to get there, babe
I can make it back about an hour or so
Hold you close against my skin
Need a little warmth on a night so cold
Singing songs you used to sing
The one about the lady in the long black veil
Should have seen the warning signs
But Lord, I love to hear you wail
High and lonesome, hard and strong
Even if it was a little out of tune
Hotter than socks on a jersey giant
Lord, I thought you hung the moon
[Bridge]
I left town when we were over
'Cause it didn't feel the same
Every backroad had a memory
And every memory held your name
[Chorus]
'Cause it's just two hours to get there babe
I can make it back about an hour or so
Hold you close against my skin
Need a little warmth on a night so cold
Singing songs you used to sing
The one about the lady in the long black veil
Should have seen the warning signs
But Lord, I love to hear you wail
High and lonesome, hard and strong
Even if it was a little out of tune
Hotter than socks on a jersey giant
Lord, I thought you hung the moon
Lord, I thought you hung the moon

Great Song👍
Derek said … she’s a goddess. Equally beautiful inside and out!
Who sings this? 🙏🏼
@@seven7eleven11 Pardon not sure I understand your point?
Man I really dig this. Then I looked up who wrote it. Of course--Tyler Childers!
Alto y solitario duro y fuerte
Incluso si estaba un poco fuera de tono
Más caliente que los calcetines en un jersey gigante
Señor, pensé que colgabas la luna....

Muy bueno! Y el resto?

Hi Respect your opinion but this is a much bettter version that the original.
Elle King has a voice that sounds like honey on the wind.
After hearing this song on SiriusXm "Outlaw Country", I made it a point to find the lyrics onscreen so I could understand it. Why do today's Country artists mumble so? You could easily understand every word they sang back in the 1970's. I think they mixed it differently back then for AM radio or something. Not bad but doesn’t even compare to Tyler Childer’s singing it.
Shore doze
🤍✨
ehh...great song, by Tyler. No offense to Elle - anyone as unique as Tyler Childers is going to be hard to cover.
It just doesn’t have the soul of the original, it’s like Nashville took it and sucked the heart right out of it.
Her voice has so much soul what are you talking about?
