The VoicePlay sense of humor is such a great addition to their delightful cover. There's always a need to watch multiple times just to catch everything.
After they released this video, Disney hired them to perform it live at a private corporate event. There's at least one video of that performance, although it's recorded on a phone and the quality isn't exactly "stellar". 🙂 It's one of my favorite Disney-themed videos of theirs, actually. 🙂 Maybe because I love the movie so much. 😅 Appreciated your reaction and attention to details. I suspect that was Layne's doing. Ashley bought 2 different sizes and talked Geoff into wearing it during the chameleon person. Ashley Diane has done several with VoicePlay - If I Were a Rich Man/Girl, Running Up That Hill (Kate Bush/Stranger Things), Sherod Returns, some shorts/minis - Surface Pressure (Encanto), Time Warp (Rocky Horror), River, Your Turn to Role (Critical Role), Como de Flor
Have you ever paid attention to the background vocals during the umbrella line? (umbr- ella- ella- eh) Gotta love when VP puts in easter eggs (like the cameo by Remy from Ratatouille and the goat scream). and the vision shards are plastic - puzzle pieces or something. ...also Layne's last line is alternating between normal singing and inhale
Okay, I never saw the petal land on Cesar... I know that if I look away that I'll miss something, but still, I did. Eli (EL-ee) is so versatile, he really can do anything. But then, so can everyone. Their newest one, In the Cold Below is another video game theme. Never heard it, never played the game, totally doesn't matter. They are THAT good!!
I'm not sure that it was actually Cesar that voices 'gut'. I think that was Layne. I could be wrong, but it gives it an extra bit of humor with the way the two interact around the word. As if Layne is calling him out, then Cesar does the shirt cover up and glum look. This is just such a really fun song to begin with and then VoicePlay cranked up the fun even more. BTW - that 'rat' is actually Layne's daughter's toy rat from the movie 'Ratatouille'. that adds another level for me!
Ashley Diane has sung with VoicePlay a few times. She is a friend of Cesar, also from Puerto Rico. If I Were a Rich Man/Girl an Running Up That Hill are two to check out. Sorry but I struggled to hear your speaking voice. (I have tinnitus and do struggle with quiet voices) so I missed a lot of what you were saying. I'm sure it was worth hearing.. I could hear the group fine though. Oh and Eli's name is short for the Hebrew name Eliezer and is pronounced as Ellie, to rhyme with jelly. The rat was animatronic. These guys are perfectionists and won't release a video until they're happy with it.
