Shared consciousness or coincidence, this video tripped me out. Ermin's book started my mixing journey, and as of a week ago I started digging back into it. I saw mentions of a Systematic Recording Guide in a few places, but as far as I know it never happened.

I think I'm plateauing now myself. All my productions/mixes sound dull AF as well. Either from issues with midrange, the tracks themselves, or mix buss compression. I've been producing music since I was 12 and now I'm only 24 so I still have a LOT to learn! Often times I find myself obsessing with how my mix sounds out of a laptop or my cellphone which leads to being discouraged and considering quitting. If you listen to something produced by Brendan O'Brien, Mutt Lange, Butch Vig, or Bob Rock you will notice that everything sounds perfect on any listening device. I always miss the mark! Cause my song sounds great in the car and like shit out of a Google Mini. Probably cause I'm not tracking through a $250,000 console 😂
