Great video keep em coming! I've used your videos as a reference to bring 10 or 12 old OMC outboards back to life. Carbs rebuilt, lower units resealed, etc etc. Thanks for the easy to follow videos.
Thanks Michael! Lower unit video is next.
Great video! Would be 100 % if you mention the ft pound torque on the flywheel nut.
Are you able to do spark test?
Have you ever had an Evinrude that runs great with the hood off but smoke and choke with it on ? I been thru the carb and link many times she just dont like her hood. It is a 1973 - 18 Hp Thanks for you time
Yeah usually that means you have a power head gasket leak that’s letting exhaust gas through. When the hood is on the exhaust gas dominates the fresh air it needs to run. When the hood is off, the exhaust is diluted enough
Some have glued-in sound deadening that blocked air intake or switched cowlings for a better looking unit off a different model that is not vented the same way ... thus choking the motor ! Keep safe and be merry !
So I just got a similar motor and my tiller handle doesn’t turn. I noticed that the thing under the flywheel doesn’t move one bit. It’s like it’s stuck. It’s in great condition. It’s just been sitting a while. What would be the cause of the thing under the flywheel mot to move?
I am looking for a deep off set 1/2" wrench Johnson used for pulling a head on a 1960 (qd 21), 10hp, do you know where to get one?
Where can I get the alignment tool for the coils?
Hey man I got the same motor you got here. I did the same ignition tune up you did. When I replaced the flywheel it would spin with the magneto. Pulling the rope start would force the magneto over along with the throttle handle. Any advice?
