Just found out my uncle James Hale pass away in his sleep. He lived in Birmingham, Alabama. I stayed my summers with him and he enjoyed watching the music scene all over the South! This song was his text tone or ringtone . We would be driving and his phone would go off and his phone played the chorus , One day I finally asked “what song is that?” I was Into hip hop/rap. So his memory and his love for real music and his legacy and influence on my life brought me here may his name live on for ever ! Thanks for readings this. Life is so short, squash any problems you have with anybody, before you never get to tell them how much you loved them! Now let the good time roll!! *clicks repeat * ... *tries to sing along to a song I barely know *! RIP James B. Hale, my best friend, love you! I’m sorry for everything! 7-10-2020🙏🙏🙏😇😇😇💔💔
your uncle had a great taste in music
Thank you !
Sorry to hear about your uncle. I'm originally from B'ham, but I live in the UK now. Take care, fella. Lots of love from Manchester
Your uncle was the man, and I am more than certain he accepts your apology.
@@linuxel33t awesome !! Sending love back !! When we lived in Bham USA we had jobs as security at a venue called “Workplay”
We saw all kinds of intimate shows, small crowds, and up and coming artists and has beens if you will. The music festivals down south ...funnest time of my life !!!!
This song never gets old.
Sometimes I smile... sometimes I cry... but it always moves me.
My life almost became this mess in the late 80’s. Dabbled here and there but I was able to turn it around before I totally went over to the dark side.
@@dianeb4840 glad to hear you pulled yourself back up not many people do
Well said, this song takes me back to my 20s when life was so much simpler!
I get depressed at the end of the era...
Was in the US Marine Corps when this dropped. I was overseas. Simultaneously felt totally alive living on the edge and yet the world slipping by without me. Jane Says takes me there every time.
🫡 ❤ 🤝 💪 THANK YOU FOR THAT SACRIFICE MY MAN!!!
I'm a Londoner that met and married an amazingly beautiful Californian girl back in the late 80's. She introduced me to this song and I will always remember the good times we shared whenever I hear this
Are y'all no longer together?
How's that going bro?
Was never a big Jane's Addiction fan. Listened to this once out of the blue. Found out the more you listen to this song, the more you can't stop listening to it!
Yes this song will grow on you
This is the greatest song of all time
Got my husband to jam to this 😊😅
Have you ever heard of the Beatles If you did you wouldn't have commented this is the best song Although it's a very very good song doesn't compare to Beatles Hendrix Stones .....
The thing I love about this song in particular is that it feels like I'm hearing a very sad but intimate story regarding this poor gal Jane and I hear all the frustration in her choice of words. This song is one of my all time favorites.
Yup. Can’t fight her heroin addiction.
It's a reflection of my own life, from times past...I love to cover this when i play a show or grab a slot at open mic. All the hurt that i carried so long comes out and Perry understands. My friends now lost and me still here, alone. Who's better off? I'm gonna quit tomorrow.
@@Zentimetw awesome she don't mean no harm she just don't know what to do about it
With love
Live love
Jane’s addiction changed music forever Ty
One of the best songs ever written! This song fucks me up! I have so many memories to this!
I really liked their sound when i heard it on our local rock station 15 years ago or so(am 30) I remember going home and researching what the lyrics meant because i had a feeling "kick tomorrow" had some deeper meaning behind it. It sort of opened my eyes to how much emotion and intellect actually goes into great music like Jane's Addiction produced.
@@jaredticer6255 - Awesome!
simplicity in a song can really be so beautiful sometimes
Yes, none of that wall of sound crap
When you don’t understand the lyricism 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@missyflutter5562 They're talking about the songwriting itself. The instrumentation is a simple, yet beautiful, chord progression, and the lyrical flow is the same all throughout. The song's message and story are beyond heartbreaking, but that's irrelevant to the original comment.
“Simplicity is the key to brilliance!” ~ Bruce Lee
The song takes me back to my time living in San Diego in the early 90's. Heard Jane's Addiction perform this live at the Irvine Amphitheater in Orange County, California summer of 1991. Great memory! After this song, I recommend listening to "Pigs in Zen" - another classic from Jane's Addiction.
Psychedelic music has me over a barrel. Some of the finest in my opinion.
Shabba bro
I remember when this song first came out I wasn't that keen on Janes addiction but now the older I get the louder I love playing this song.
U know your not alone your right. Can’t keep the fans waiting 😇
I mean, me too... but that's just 'cause I'm old and deaf now ;)
It's a timeless song bout' the most insane, intricate, & beautifulness on this planet.
Learning what love is, really. Usually by how someone treats you when they *_don't_* love ya, as telegraphed by their behavior towards ya', as you likely hear undying professions of the lie herd around the world...
Ahhh, but even the painful path is big, bright flashing amazingness.
The nostalgia is heavy, first heard them in high school, then.. later, when traveling, working at music festival and on the stereo ..on my headphones out in California.. bittersweet almost .seeing how many got caught up and arent here anymore. This reminds me of old friends
Love this song. Jane says have you seen my wig around, I feel naked without it!
Says so much
I live in Nome ALASKA when i first introduced my friends to Jane's Addiction, it was like discovering 🔥 to them. Lol.
This is one of the most profound songs ever.
This song is one of my all time favourites….. a soulful piece of music that makes me tear up most times I sing along with it….
Thank you 🙏 for the upload 🌈
Jane's Addiction is cool and so is that Turntable! 🤘
Don't be seduced by vinyls and turntables.....like classic cars and telling you what you should like
Singing this in 2022 🖤🎶
"Jane says, "I'm done with Sergio"
He treats me like a ragdoll"
She hides the television
Says, "I don't owe him nothing, but if he comes back again
Tell him to wait right here for me or,
Try again tomorrow I'm gonna kick tomorrow
I'm gonna kick tomorrow"
Jane says "have you seen my wig around"
"I feel naked without it"
She knows they all want her to go
That's okay man she don't like them anyway
Jane says, "I'm going away to Spain
When I get my money saved
I'm gonna start tomorrow
I'm gonna kick tomorrow
I'm gonna kick tomorrow"
She gets mad and she starts to cry
Takes a swing but she can't hit!
She don't mean to harm
She just don't know what else to do about it
Jane goes to the store at eight
She walks up on St. Andrews
She waits and gets her dinner there
She pulls her dinner from her pocket
Jane says, "I've never been in love"
No, she don't know what it is
She only knows if someone wants her
"I want 'em if they want me
I only know they want me"
Jane says. . .Jane says. . ."
I like a bit of Sergio tachinni..but get you r drift.
Bless you King... lyrics
One of the best and most honest songs about heroin addiction!
The best version of this song hands down thank you
This song was so profound when I 1st heard it,it also scared me, especially the line...gonna kick tomorrow...I have finally beaten my addiction but this song still brings back those times with rose tinted glasses, thank you Mr P Farrell for such a provocative and moving song.
Used to love it when i heard this song play as a very young adult in the 90s.
The very best 80s song
This shakes off the years heavy on my shoulders. Lightens the toll.
My name is Louie colon Janes addiction I've seen them numerous times in Hollywood when they were doing it and we're at there prime ...great band when this song plays to me brings back in a second my high school days and the wonderful times I had it sucks that we have to get old so if your young enjoy it it only comes along one time in your life. Peace out.
Jane says she's never been in love and don't know what it is. She only knows if they want her.
all those years ago... that line... was like a liver shot... OOoPH!
Omg this takes me back...
Timeless masterpiece
My favorite of the many variations.
This is my husband's favorite song. He loves Jane's Addiction.
I read a comment somewhere on here that jane was a roommate of a band member of james addiction and cost them a lot of money....the real jane was jane bainter..she was more of a muse for ferrell and was his room mate in that big famous house he rented a few blocks up from saint
Andrews in l.a.
I don't remember what album/ c.d it was but jane posed with her wig on the inside of the cover on the stairway of the house she and ferrell shared.
She didn't cost him money...if anything he made a shit ton of money using her name and imagery ..and in an interview I read with Jane bainter she sad that she has never gotten any money from perry for any thing of her life that was contributed or stolen.
And when she got off drugs she did go to spain to see her mother who lived there.
Interesting story...She should have received something, if only in good faith...People are greedy when they 'make it'...Glad she made it.
That is an absolutely beautiful turntable man
Watching the record spin was part of the experience. I have soooo missed you my spin.
Busque está canción por más de 20 años, desde que la escuché en MTV en 1998, y hoy en 2023 la encontré! Súper canción. Con una carga emocional súper poderosa. Mucho dolor en su letra pero es ipnotizate, sin duda.
Glad you found the song again
Si la conociste x MTV como yo posiblemente la que te refieres sea la versión en vivo, del álbum Kettle Whistle, insuperable para mi ruclips.net/video/i7Q_8q3XXrQ/видео.html
I dont why I want to cry each time I listen to this song.
Memories?
@@WPTHFC A little of this probably but also the vocal performance by Perry Farrell is very stirring imo.
It's a beautiful song. Even tho sad.
It's heavy.
Same
At 17 I would turn this all the way up and drive... never knowing where I’d end up next.

You were very wise at 17!

Happy 55th Birthday Eric Adam Avery 4/25/65 Your heavy bass playing on this song is killer.. The original Jane's was my favorite.
Totally AWESOME dude !! 👍 😊 ..
Their movie 'The Gift' is crazy! His wife od's in movie and I won't say any more 😊 Love Jane's Addiction!
Oh man... This song... Makes me feel like 8teen every time I hear it. Jane = trouble :)
Doesn't me. Makes me think about all the mistakes i made with my kids and am sorry about. I Love You Shawn, Jim, and Chris. Please forgive me. I thank you Chris for telling me that what i taught you only made you stronger. I had three beautiful angels. Now I live without you. You make me live Chris.
I really love this tune, great guitar strumming & beat-can’t help but shake my groove thang to this & JAMMMMM!!
Cuando tengo insomnio y me acuerdo de todo...
Enuff Said!!!!Pure Perfection!
no better song for the summer. Reminds me that I got it good. Reminds me that I am closer to being homeless, than I am a millionaire. It reminds me that I won't be better, just different.
Nice turntable! I will have to get this one on vinyl
This parting in the days 86 to 92 & to this day !!!
Band awesome & kool song 👌

The old days...where did time go
Thanks for posting this official video. Reminds me of the first time I heard this song, bought the album and listened to this and other songs over and over on a turntable.
the lyrics make jane sound like kind of a pain in the ass but at the same time are so humanizing. it really makes you empathize with her as a person
For such a beautiful song......such beautifully...stale visually

She takes a swing and SHE CAN'T HIT!
i have nightmares all the time where I can't hit. I just can't
Pretty sure he's referring to hitting a vain.
@@sirbader1Exactly. It’s amazing to me how many people don’t realize this whole song is about heroin addiction.

FANTASTIC VINYL.
Thank you for sharing this
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you

First time hearing the don’t know recorded like that. The cassette and cd version is deeper octave and later on perry fills it. That was cool👍

I love the clear records..I have a couple clear 7 inches that have a funny blue tint like this one and I have an lp by czarface that's clear as the water...not sure what's so appealing about them but they really touch something in me...that's one thing I know for sure
BELLEZA
Que Pedazo de tema!!!!
What Jane said. 👏🏽
I haver 50 old, this sound is Rebel, but i like, youth!!!
“… gonna kick tomorrow, gonna kick tomorrow…”
From the Nothing Shocking album!! (Previously released on their self titled album on Triple X Records)
Includes the kettle and bongo drums.
What I love about this song....is that Jane, after the song, in the end, actually made it to Spain.
Yessssssssssss.
The song is about an old roommate of one of the band members. She was an addict and was always saying what she was going to do, and her addiction cost the band member quite alot. And that is where they got the name for their band "James Addiction" and song 'Jane Says" cause she was always saying what she was going to do.
That's sounds about right, I buy it I saw them at club Scream before they got signed great live band with all the drugs. Ended up in the video shot there Mountain song. I can't believe it's been 36 years since then.
Em São Paulo❤❤ toca muito.
Coolness
Love you Serge ❤
Wouaa love love
An Awesome Song, and this band right behind the Cult, were the 2 bands they say, which empowered or started Grunge in the early 90's...then of course all those bands which we all knew and loved, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soungarden and Alice in Chains !
Orrrrr try again tomorrow!!!!
Good Work Gang
