  • Want tech SUPPORT ? ---------------- calendly.com/c... This is a video about my experience with the DT466 engine. In this video, I left the DT466 engine running for 43 hours without stopping. The engine still runs perfectly! that said this thing is a old unit built in the 80's and god knows how many miles and hours are on the thing. That and how long it has been sitting i have had it couple years sitting now

    When I was a kid, I was working on my own truck on a Saturday am (shop was closed) and a lady drove up and seen me inside and started knocking on the door. I explained we were closed, but she begged me to come see her car saying it “would not turn off!”. I went to see and her Mercedes diesel had its shut down cable broken and the car had been running all night. She was super excited when I showed her how to shut the engine down by opening the hood and moving the cable at the engine…

    Goodness Rob. The cases where you forgot about something when you have thousands of things on your mind,lol. Those DT466's are some good engines for sure.

    Haha that's similar to what happened with us a few years ago when one of our equipment operators left an old Caterpillar 938G loader running for an entire weekend! Got off the machine on Friday around 1pm and probably assumed he would get back on it but we were finished for the day and he forgot it was still running. Found it still running Monday morning at 5am. Those had an old mechanical Cat 3126 without emissions.

      3126 aint mechanical its a heui engine with a ecm you are prob thinking 3116

    • @4wdiesels
      @4wdiesels 4 месяца назад

      @SolHersh It was a 3126 MUI. They might have used a hydraulic/electronic injection system on road vehicles but not this loader.

    I have a 466 too, although mine's a 97 with an electronic injection pump. Sure wish it was sporting a P-pump......
    Great engines. I remember a guy with an older Ford pick-up. May have been a ''dent side'' body style, but he had a DT466 crammed in there..... a slow n steady tow pig.

    Thats nothing. Countless numbers of those engines in industrial applications run 24/7 from oil change to oil change.

      100%. Under load on a engine is just fine.
      This a vibe idle no load and good knows the condition of the old thing. I know has been on the road in 6 plus years

      @@markdanielczyk944 No, the last of the 466e engines. We had five of them in a small fleet of medium duty trucks. They finally put black electrical tape over the check engine lights on them. It was something with the electronic engine control constantly. Even they weren’t as bad as the Maxxforce though. I don’t think any other engine rivals the Maxxforce’s horrible reputation.

    Yea I start my Dt466 in my winch truck every now and then ..Just to keep it being able to run if I need it . ROB my brother warned me about not starting them from the pump getting frozen up . He said ge see this a few times on equipment that has not been used a lot ..I assume the fuel we have now ..I poured some 10 wt hydraulic oil in the tank hoping that might help ..I use battery tenders on my truck on equipment..money pit Harleys. I got tired of dead battery's..Good thing you don't have a coolant leak on the truck ..I really like the DT 466 with the p pump in my truck

    I'm sure the exhaust is wet stacked like a bad dog and the oil has fuel in it from all that idling but I don't think it will matter in the long run.

    Could possibly be wet stacked from idling! I’d run it under load to see if it dumps out tons of smoke.
