I have an unhealthy infatuation with the dt engines! I love swaps like this. Just picked up a dt360 truck in California and I am waiting to find someone who can ship it to me in the pnw...🤙
17mpg!!! That's fucking incredible, even if he wasn't towing anything. For instance my 2000 Toyota Tundra (gasoline 4.7L V8) only gets about 16mpg, even when that's 95% highway miles, not towing anything and taking it really easy going 65 mph.
Can you give me more info on the allison transmission swap? The only way i know of doing it is using a round sae bell housing etc? Tried to find a video of your swap but didn't see it in your channel.
I've always liked the 6b Cummins but I think the dt360 is a much better engine. I would love to build something with the dt but they are hard to find in my neighborhood. If you do find one it's overly priced. You did a great job with the truck. Especially keeping it all IH. Awesome!
Thanks Jim. It was warm empty and same temp while towing, so I'm not sure. I may have a brake dragging slightly. It does squeak when braking and backing up.
@@TheBinderBoneyard thanks, I'll look some other as i don't want to replace the original metal. I'll see what diesel engine I'll put there, maybe a perkins 4 or a Nissan diesel
@@chumbeque4561 stay away from Nissan diesel …..unless you find a modern version….they suck oil from valve stems and lower rings….plus poor performance….a delicate engine….and will break if pushed.
17.4 plus 20% for our Canadian gallon is a nice 20.88 mpg what was your cruising speed and rpm on the flat stretches ? Just trying to figure out if I should use an International to haul with. Thanks
65mph is about 1950rpm. I was running around 60 to 70 on the highways and 55 on the back roads. I had lots of stop and go city driving this trip. I'm doing another haul to Montana this weekend. It will be all highway then.
Does the Allison 1000 use a standard SAE bellhousing or did you have to go to the aftermarket to put the engine and trans together? I would like to transplant a DT360 into an old Ford truck and I am exploring transmission and adapter options. Your project is very cool!
How have you been liking the Allison swap and controller?im about to install my dt360 in my 2006 quad cab ram with a mega cab dually fourth gen bed and super singles all around,14 wide rear 12.25 front..main concern was the proper transmission and gearing
The allison has been amazing. Once we got the tune dialed and my sensors installed correctly, it has been a champion. Make sure you have the right torque converter for your horsepower range if you're turned up at all. Mines all stock, so i have the stock duramax converter in it.
Good to see people doing different things instead of cummins all time.
Dt360 is twice the engine aas the Cummins
Just randomly found this video that is a awesome truck I sub today09/01/2024

I really love this set up. Sounds like it took it like a champ for the most part
Nice job putting it all together. Thats great mileage for a 1ton dually truck 🙂👍
Thank you. The truck really has far exceeded my expectations.
got a woody when I seen the tractor supply sign in the back ground, and im Canadian,
I love seeing Detroit swaps, the 2-stroke Detroit are my favourites. You have a very cool build
This is definitely not a Detroit. It's an IH engine.
Nice setup! I’m looking at building a truck and this is good inspiration!
The more i see this the more i want the swap. Love it man. Get some!
Thanks. Its not an easy swap but worth it.
@@TheBinderBoneyard yea looks. Bit cramped. But heck yea.
thats a sweet truck!
Thank you!
Seen you in redmond nice rig
Thank you!

Cool truck. Have pics or video on rear radiator setup? Thanks 👍
Where are you based out of? Just saw the exit to my house. Small world

Thanks. Down the road empty, it weighs 8k, so its already working just as is!
So, Ive got a 57 IH A120. The BD240 in it is shot. Been thinking about a DT360 swap this guy. Do you have any advice or write ups on your swap?
@@wrwarnerhall I don't. Just know you'll be cutting firewall and getting creative with a radiator.
That is a DREAM rig!!! So jealous!
Love the swap same thing planned for my 1975 highboy
What's the two reservoirs on the passenger side inner fenders? Coolant overflow and washer fluid?
Coolant expansion tank, since the radiator has no cap and power steering reservoir since the PS pump is gear driven and carries no fluid.
Love projects like that.

I did an entire half hour podcast about it. Search Binder Boneyard podcast on most podcast platforms

Just wanted to say this is so badass it’s making me hate one of my favorite people on the gram/RUclips. Lol, kidding man. Sweet rig! Love it
Is it possible for you to do a driving video with a camera mounted somewhere like near the chair shoulder or on the dash maybe?
Send me 40 dollars for diesel and tell me what you want filmed...
@@TheBinderBoneyard good point 😅...
Sounds like you're getting everything fine-tuned pretty well. Let us know what the verdict is on the rear axle bearing.

Awesome!, do you think that engine will fit in a travelall like the one you are carrying? (110 '64 4*4)
Extensive firewall modifications will be neccesary

Very cool, I've been wanting to put a DT360 with a manual in my 4x4 OBS Ford.
I'm doing a DT466 with an allison. Can you do a video on what it took to get the allison running well?
I used Jason at Transmissiontuner.com He's a wizard with those things. I couldn't be happier with it.

The bellhouse is modular. I unbolted the duramax version and bolted on the sae version. Easy to do.
@@TheBinderBoneyard how about the TCM what kind of nonsense did that entail to make operational
@@dwarnermg we used the gm trans harness, moved a few wires around and had the tcm reflashed a few times as we logged data. Works great.

Do you have any thoughts on the best way of putting a gooseneck in a '68?
You'd have to fab up frame plates and risers to mount the goose ball on. Cutting a hole in the bed is where I get nervous.

Amazing
