Collar Sleeve my old friend, you have served me well.

Aside from good instruction, you did something subtle which I appreciated: gave a cogent argument for the superiority of this approach over others. I usually immediately go to a waiter or double ankle sweep, but I now see the dominance of controlling the upper body as well. Will change approach.

Professor! Great video! I've been really working some collar/sleeve guard in the last six months of my journey, now as a four-stripe blue belt. Do you feel like bringing both feet to the hips is better than trying to drive down with one foot and go spider with the other?
I've been really trying to work open guards in lead up to my eventual purple belt. This and Lasso are my go-to's, though I'm running into issues with people stepping back (I'm shorter) and essentially negating my feet on their hips.
I'd pick your brain more, but I think I've already asked enough. Long time lurker, first time commenter ;)

Hey man, I think that it’s better to have one foot on the hip and one on the bicep. When they step back, it should present the opportunity for several other guards, DLR being the best. Hope this helps, thanks for lurking and supporting 😜

I saw the collar and sleeve guard tonight in my class and hated it 😊. I was pretty frustrated (white belt) but I was determined to go home and do some homework on this guard. Your video was just what I needed! So well explained and makes me think I might ended up loving this position now that I understand how it can be used to transition to other positions. Thank you a million times and yes to a road map video!

Great as always. Would love to see where to go from there? Is the tripod sweep easily available?
