🕵♂ A data leak tied my channel email address to my physical address. The related events weren't serious because it wasn't my primary home. A second event got closer. No resolution yet, so I have to be really light on details. I have a few things in place I'm not disclosing here to hopefully mitigate things, but those are obviously specific only to me and wouldn't make sense for others to implement. I'll explain more in a part 2. This comment will self-destruct.
The government is one of the worst organizations for leaking data! The DMV / Voting is the real piece of work... The problem is that the government won't anonymize or hide your data unless you become a victim, and then you have to apply for their stupid permission to do so.
Never get complacent, it can get you or your family hurt!
This topic of storage, safety and security should always be taught. I am old school coin dealer so we still use lock boxes at the Bank. Sure that has risk but so does keeping all on hand.
Yeah, just about everything I have is currently in a secure storage facility while I update a few things.
Wow. This is very concerning. I pray that you get a resolution soon. Yes, storing off site is crucial, especially if it's someone or some place you can trust.
I can't be sure, but it seems that an email address is consistently being called out as a point of security failure in many 'computer security' channels. That would not be surprising. It's a pain, but I guess I'll multiply my email addresses AGAIN. Friends/fam that have YOUR info on THEIR email/phone 'contact' lists is a known point of entry for the bad guys that simply grab your friend's email contact list.
I volunteered as a manager for a Thrift Shop a few times a month for my local church many years ago. People would donate old furniture belonging to their parents after they passed away. I always instructed the staff to thoroughly inspect the furniture (such as the back & bottoms of dresser drawers for any hidden money.
Elderly people sometimes hide money around their house then either forget or pass away with out telling anyone.
I would estimate that in my 10 years volunteering there, we recovered about $300,000 in hidden cash. We always gave the found money back to the family members.
Wow!
That is so kind of you. A supreme act of charity. God bless you.
A rare almost lost mentality. Integrity is so healthy for us..
very cool of you guys! how awesome! I do the squirrel thing too. lol out of sight out of mind and therefore not spent on misc fun stuff. haha
Always be careful of those who know what you have
A wise wizard once said "keep it secret, keep it safe".
It's a dangerous business...
😂classic
My Precious.
I was burglarized in 2000. Lost my metals, guns and electronics. It was a shock. Better prepared today. Keep on stackin'!
Not fun.
Here in South Carolina I have a friend of mine who keeps a ginormous pair of work boots muddied on his front and back porch with a huge, huge dog watering bowl so it makes would be thieves think twice that there’s a giant inside as well as a big dog
Everyone knows I'm poor and I have nothing
😂😂😂😂😂
If we really want to sell this idea, hit those we know up for a loan from time to time. 😉
Ah, so you've been saving in dollars then?
My plan might include a decoy safe with fake metals and a little real money. Also multiple large dogs, solid doors and locks as well as cameras. Here's hoping you can solve the issue
Smart. You can imagine I have some layers too. Somebody just stumbling in would be probably be very sorry for a few reasons. I've complicated things a bit with this channel, though.
That's why I keep my mouth shut. You sure don't want unwanted visitors invading your house.
The first rule of having gold is never tell anyone that you actually have hold
And the 2nd rule of having gold is never tell anyone that you have gold!!
Loose lips sink ships. Better noone knows your business whether it's gold, or any business someone may use that information against you.
@@thomasmcd5862 Don't worry, the bullion dealers and shippers will do that for you...
Buy a solid wood door and core drill holes in the top of it that are just wide enough to hold your coins. Nobody will look there for one, and for two the door has to come off its hinges to get them out. For extra protection, cover the holes with a core plugs that sit flush with the top of the door.
that's a really good idea!
My personal philosophy is: security through secrecy with additional security coming from obscurity and misdirection in the event the secrecy part becomes compromised.
🤝
Im a fan of a safe as an obvious target that will eat up a lot of time, and other "outside the box" locations that require both advanced knowledge and professional skills to safely access.
The safe will eat up time and provide something for a potential thief to pick up and run away with instead of continuing to look.
Yes, to the decoy safe, I have several as I am a lock hobbyist. The main hoard safe should be in a block rental storage unit with a metal door and that door should have a chain on the inside even if it against the rules. I took my key and walked along trying it in other units AND OPENED SEVERAL. The safe should he anchored to the floor even THAT is against the rules. If they find that you have broken those rules it is PROOF that they have been snooping!
For over 50 years of stacking I never mentioned gold or silver to anyone. I feel more comfortable at this time now that it is safely stored, insured, verified genuine.
Smart.
thanks catman for the heads up
Can your comment be tracked?
@@wirelessone2986, I would be surprised if it wasn’t. That’s why I decieded to vault it. Other reasons include, if I pass my family would not know what to do with it, large amounts are also difficult and possibly dangerous to sell in a private transaction to mention a few benefits.
If it's insured, sombody knows you have it.
Being a helpful precious metals channel, which leads to stalking or theft shows no good deed goes unpunished.
Yeah. Definitely makes things more complicated, but some of it was probably bound to happen, unfortunately.
Gold and Silver? What gold and silver? You can actually buy that stuff? Where?
Good God. What a crazy situation. Can't trust anything these days. The data leaks are constant and bad actors will always take advantage. Stay safe bro.
Yeah, interesting times. Thank you.
This is why I never show my guns or face on the Internet! Ain't too smart, am I? :-)
Ha! You're a sufficiently dangerous man. I apparently need to work on that part! 😄
I'd never tell anyone I stack.
Sorry to hear it man. Scary times. Take all necessary action.
I have a sh1t-ton of gold at my property. I keep it under about 35ft of water.... damned but if I didn't sink out on the baxk pasture lake last Autumn. But at least its safe.
Sounds like a boating accident.🙂😂
I think a desert eagle should be on the table while doing this video.
Ha, I kicked it around. One of the handful of things I collect would be a pretty good deterrent.
@2is1gold God bless you and your family. Stay safe!
That sucks man. Just one of those reminders that the world isn't as honest as most of us try to make it.
A good cautionary tale. All our gold is spread among various safety deposit boxes in local banks and/or credit unions. Cameras, alarm systems, and 3 large dogs protect the other silver, precious metals. and jewelry we have in a good quality safe at home. Also lead in the 9mm and .357 varieties.
Good steps.
Read the Frank/Dodd act of the Obama administration and you will see that the bank owns everything in your safety deposit box and in your accounts if they go under.
Safety deposit boxes, no matter where, aren't as safe as one would believe. Remember what happed to US Private Vaults in 2021.
Good thing mines at the bottom of a lake.
Tragic, but probably works out in the end. The universe was looking out for you.
@@2is1gold I think he meant that he had a "boating accident".
Key word “tried”. 👍….Hopefully
I just bury my gold by a big tree in my yard and forget about it.
If you can’t have it at your house there’s no point in buying physical gold. Just buy something else.
My case is a bit different with the channel. The extra steps I have to take aren't that difficult, though.
@ yeah I’m talking about just like in general with a normal person. It’s great that you provide this information and great videos but it sucks that it kind of puts a target on you..
Yep if you don't hold it (close) you really don't own it (take a look at recent safety deposit bank heist in Hamburg, all the gold and diamonds stolen and no idea who stole it)😢uhh uhh...
I actually say never keep all your eggs in one basket. even if you only have a couple eggs. lol
"Keep it secret, keep it safe"
Don't keep Precious Metals at the house even if you think ppl don't know. In my opinion that is just putting the family at risk, just my 2 cents. Midnight fishing or midnight gardening is the way to go OR physical storage at a secure location.
YOUR COMPUTER IS NOT EVEN SAFE FROM CORRUPTION, NOR IS YOUR Privacy, nor is your own house safe from intruders who just come and go as they please and take whatever they feel like taking and they do so with the GOVTS BLESSING.
Here in the UK there was a famous robbery at Hatton Garden jewellers a while back, hundreds of safety deposit boxes looted. Seeing those pictures of the broken boxes really put me off getting one... Nowhere is 'safe'!
People may not know who "You" are but your voice could be recognized by people who know you but are not in your inner circle.
Yeah. I need to work on an accent. Aussie seems like a good choice. 🙂 (Point taken/understood though.)
Agree that 2is1 does have a very distinctive voice. 👍
@@2is1goldAn Aussie accent plus a sponsorship from the Perth Mint. Sounds like a good plan to me. 😎
Swiper, no swiping!
Swipe 🙌🧤🤌
This is where fake Chinese gold and silver coins come in handy. Not too difficult to find while your real stuff is well-hidden.
Gold needs to be backed up by lead. And a vpn.
What are the advantages of a VPN
Safe deposit box. Yeah, you need to have an open bank to access, but there are few better places to put your gold.
Definitely a good idea to stay Vigilant.
Consider switching away from ledger to something like a cold card or blockstream jade. Ledger has/had a back door and the other two are open source with more eyes on the code to make it more secure.
It must be rewarding having a Huge Gold channel with hundreds of thousands of followers.. But, also Extremely Risky..I pray for your safety and security and wish you Nothing but the Best Sir . God Bless You and your Family.
Appreciate it. Thank you!
the best security is obscurity (the state of not being known) ... sorry you've had, are having, this stress in your life
your willingness to share your knowledge in all aspects of PMs is greatly appreciated, your services and sacrifices are above and beyond reasonable expectations
take care as your value to us on this end is way more than all that's in Fort Knox, God bless you and yours!
Appreciate it - thanks!
Uhoh... 0 is none too ☹️
Oh shucks 2is1 brother here we go this is gonna be good I can feel it The past couple one’s have been bangers 🤟🏻🤟🏻
I have to be a bit light on details for a bit, but we'll get to it in a few parts. Cheers!
Favorite Channel....thanks🇺🇸👍
If you own gold…you should also own lead 😉
Layered security. Electricity, dawgs, fencing, safes, hiding spots, biggest security aspect is knowledge. Who knows of the treasure? The myth of the treasure buryers always being buried with the treasure is all we need to know about securing a treasure trove
Yeah, well put.
You guys don’t know me so I’ll tell you I store mine in my fish tank, a thief will never look there but maybe they will now 😂
I can see future videos,
Guns n Gold....
😄
US video then as thankfully no guns in uk and no shootings😊
Great reminders. Glad I don’t have any gold to worry about.
Same. The lake was angry that day.
The ocean doesn't want me..

Wow. I have a family member who thinks I should be in front of the camera in my videos, as there are other stacking channels that do. I have been contemplating the idea. I assume you don't do so for the reason stated in this video and would advise against it. I am in the process of planning a how to store and secure your metals, as I type. Hope all ended well. God Bless - You are the best Gold Stacking Channel in the community!
Complicated choice for sure.
If anyone has anything that might make people hurt them or destroy property then it brings danger. keep it outside. I think banks has deposit boxes.
I'm the type of guy that likes to spread awareness about gold and silver with people i meet. I do tend to show them pictures of my stack, but i also don't keep them at my home. Matter of fact, i dont keep them in any place tied to my name either. One person in the world knows where that is and we would both eat a lead salad before disclosing that location. As for the internet, i use a VPN at all times. Not saying its safe, not saying it isnt...
moreover, when i show my stack to people, i do make mention of the fact that i do not keep it at home, and that i have alot of pew pews. so theres that.
Marksmanship is a highly perishable skill... not to mention tactics, unless you didn't own them in the first place. Stay dangerous. It requires less than you think.
Reading this on my way back from the range. ✊
I'm a big fan and practitioner of booby traps . pirates did it back in the day. everyone should start with the basics of not telling anyone and security cameras and dogs and so forth, but in my opinion those are only deterrents. people have to get creative if those failsafe deterrents get compromised. Personally I have HUGE boulder that rolls down if the booby trap is set off, like in Indiana Jones 🤣🤣🤣
Sorry to hear about your situation. Particularly the second event is very concerning.
Yeah, the physical holdings exposure doesn't concern me. I've already taken care of that. The other part gets me a bit. May we live in interesting times!
Two tubes of 20 1oz rounds, that's about 100k nowadays?
Idk how much value is normal to store at home in your neighborhood, but unless you have some kind of vault connected to an emergency callcenter, it just seems complacent...
Sure. I don't film in my home, though.
A perfect outro quote by Thomas Tusser, no?!. 😏 I’m glad you survived this little episode… well, other than a surprised soil in your britches, perhaps! LOL 😂 Seriously, this is always a needed topic, and I appreciate your openness in sharing it. May we all take on the requisite sense of urgency that you share here. Thank you!👍🏻
If I ever have to tell someone I have anything that I'd rather them not know I have, I'll tell them it's in a location in which it actually is not in.
see the ledger .I've got a few of those myself .curious, what are you holding in digital assets? XRP?
The circle of people who know I have precious metals is small, but I do worry. Fire, for me, is a big worry, also. I do have a fire rated safe, in an area where the potential for fire damage is low. I have resisted a repository, at the moment, due to the cost basis. Perhaps because of trust issues on my part. Lol. As the prices have skyrocketed this year, I’ve begun to consider other alternatives. I used to use a safety deposit box, but my silver was heavy and bulky, which is a lesson learned about precious metals. After some conversion to gold, I’ve reduced the mass of my holdings. Still, the bank was an expense to holding my metals, and there’s something about that I find counter intuitive to having precious metals in the first place. Maybe I should get over that. Thanks for bringing the issue to the forefront.
You really shouldn't have this channel. It's an extreme security risk.
Summit Metals wasn't responsible for leaked data were they? 🤣😜
NO! The dumb part was that I had an obvious email address (my channel name is part of it) tied to an address. It was only that way in one or two places, so I think I know what led to it. On the upside the address is not where my kids are, so taking a few more steps there wasn't very difficult.
This brings up a great point. Any mail order could be a way to locate PM. They have your address and what was ordered...
What is the exact model number for the pelican case
I think it's an m40. I know this is the link: amzn.to/4jkmJ6R
Not gonna get to deep into it but my metals r always on me…im not giving em up without a FIGHT
As they said in WWII, loose lips sink ships. And occasionally, personal boats ladden with gold. 😂
Thanks for the advice, friend.
I have watched several videos on precious metals storage and have decided the home is not a good place to store them. So I have found other places and am even considering a bank lock box.
Tell no body and never ever ever start a you tube channel showing your gold! lol Look in my area me and my neighbors all agreed to protect each other that includes we all made it mandatory to have a shovel.
So you add it to your homeowners,..but then they know and the Feds/IRS can find out about it.
It's also ridiculously expensive even with a professional security system and monitoring and tool-rated safes.
Personally, I would never use a "peer to peer" precious metal buy, sell, or trade venue. Some folks only have a home address to accept packages, and it's not a great idea to give that for obvious reasons. With a PO Box or business address available maybe OK.
I can't believe this happened to you. Never envy your brothers.
There are insurance companies that secure coins, jewels, and other valuables. That could be a good video topic.
Allstate does not cover my precious metals. The rider to cover it was expensive
Agreed. I looked into that and it was REALLY expensive. Worse than that, insurance can't handle a dynamic stacking
plan where what one has is constantly changing as things are added and subtracted from time to time. 😕
Since home owners won’t cover a loss I prefer some other place to store/hide/secure my small stash.
The few that know I have precious metals know I keep it under the bedding in my Indonesian Spitting Cobra enclosure. 😉
😄
Keep your gold a secret 🤐
Definitely got me thinking about how venerable online orders make you. Especially if using one dealer, they could know exactly what you have, and where it was delivered.
The address I use for online orders was not part of the problem, just to be clear.
@@2is1gold I got that, Just got me thinking a data breach at a online dealer could be ugly. Thanks for the continued education, you have the best PM channel.
Hope all ends well....! We all must be careful out here!
I'm not a man of wealth but i do not keep all my eggs in one basket. I have a tube of silver rounds in my safe, a tube of silver rounds hidden up at the cabin and a 1/4oz gold maple at my parents. fires have always concerned me, maybe cause my dad was a fire fighter. but I have thought about the fire threat before. burgerlary I'm not too worried about. they are secure where they are. in a home invasion I'd be more worried for the people breaking in than me. lol
Very selective who knows is number one, use a vault service for some and hide it in various places that it's spread out.
Yeah, smart.
If you break in my house at night.please carry an envelope with what you want engraved on your tombstone.that will help me a lot.
What hardware wallet you recommend?
I'm thinking that the safest place to store gold is not a safe.
But like with most things, it depends...
A safe spells valuables inside - the owner of a safe might as well write that on the front of it.
I would think not. And a proper safe is going to cost many many ounces i bet. I have all the tools readily available in my house to bust into or haul off any safe i could afford 😂😂
All my gold is in lock box at a bank. Only person who knows is my 92 year old Mom
Safe deposit box…
read the fine print on that contract. I moved mine from safety deposit box after they changed their terms: Specifically says not to store cash or bullion in them and bank isn't responsible if they go missing.
Keep your powder dry...
Selective amnesia is a virtue
Here is some advice no one seems to heed.... Don't flash your wealth, Yup, counter intuitive to how 99% of people act. People that flash their money usually end up being a target of criminals or desperate people. Wealthy people don't tell everyone how wealthy they actually are. Money is a tool, not a bragging point. Everyone flashing money is bragging.
There are plenty of simple solutions how to keep physical wealth hidden and safe, but until you are the type of person who does not show off, it really doesn't matter. While I do not condone criminals and their actions, at some point, those braggarts need to take some accountability. It's hard to feel bad for people making themselves a target. Bragging your way to notoriety, comes with consequences IMO.
I would rather have no notoriety, have my comfortable wealth, and be free to be left alone, then be "famous" and have to worry all the time about my safety and well being. The less people know about you, the better. In today's era, there in no real privacy when everyone feels the need to broadcast everything to the world. Good luck to you, but maybe you need to reassess things a little bit (or a lot). Sometimes we need to figure out what is more important to us.
Sure, but don't mistake having an anonymous channel with me flaunting something in real life.
@2is1gold again, posting for the whole world is not keeping any privacy. It's still showing off and it still attracts attention. Not that I wish anything bad on you. Just pointing out you are broadcasting and people see it. Not everyone seeing it has good intentions.
There is a good reason why most wealthy people are pretty low key. You do what you want to.
why not do stock picks. Im new to gold and silver and would also learn stock picks to turn them into gold and silver
Important subject. Good thoughts and prayers for you and your family. Layers of security are prudent no matter what the details arise. ✨🦬✨🦅✨🍁✨Stay warm everyone! ❄️
Thank you!
When your house could be on the next episode of Hoarders you don't need to hide a safe... ;)
Time to Move the Cheese!
✅
Just put it in a safe deposit box don't be a nerd. People talking about well this one bank got robbed. Yeah you insure the box which is the half of the same reason for numismatics. It's not nearly the cost of trying to keep it in your house.
a secret is something only one person knows....
My strategy is to just not have enough to worry about.
😄
I’m am glad you and the most special wealth in your life is safe you and your family 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you!
They wouldn’t be leaving my house alive 😂 let’s put it like that
Oh great 2 is 1, now you're literally forcing me to purchase the CZ P10c I was looking at last week. Shame on you😅
Ha! CZ makes good gats.
Somehow, I knew that was gonna be the quote at the end
Read the story about the great Montana collection burglary attempt
I have found being tested along the way as being help for the future, Thank's for sharing have a great day
Accumulating the physical is nice but would think that at some point it becomes a liability. I mean is it even smart to have so much in an asset that could actually be taken away from you? Once stacking goals have been realistically met then other hard assets should be considered, real estate, cash businesses etc. Also there are gold linked stable coins that you can buy and move to cold storage. If one does have large amounts of physical gold then I'd live in a secure gated and monitored community, have dogs and everyone in the house would need to be trained to use and carry firearms.
