got to give respect to Daru dude out there carrying a character and whole I-no community on his back . he made into top 8 at Evo twice and his I-no is so good that he made other pros think she's op
Tbh looking at sonic sols characters in other games. It kind of seems like he needs to play a top 5, or he’s just done. I don’t blame him for doing that at a tournament level, but it also makes me take his words with a grain of salt.
He’s been my favorite player since strive started I watch his live stream at least once a week usually multiple days. He’s a magician, it’s just like he understands what to push every second.
As an I-no main Daru's a huge inspiration so I was going absolutely insane watching this live, It's a great reminder that a bad matchup isn't an excuse or the end of it
I think one of the biggest problems most players face vs HC is that he forces you to go against your muscle memory simply because risk reward and execution are a limiting factors daru doing it with ino makes me feel like the counterplay can be pushed even farther. It's hard to know when to challenge when gun is as freeform as it is.
After watching Kizzie's Evo video where he spent more time shitting on I-No players than talking about anything else and saying Daru just gambles more than other I-No's I'm glad we have a video to show how much of a beast this guy actually is. I dropped I-No MONTHS ago, but Daru is still my fav player to watch in Guilty Gear.
I mean Kizzie isn't wrong to some degree. Daru's propensity to guess right and not wavering in his decisions in a dicey match up sets him apart not only as a char specialist but as a top rank player. But it also shows that with his extensive knowledge of the MU, he would rather take HCs in that EVO main stage than say some of the best Sol's running.
I personally appreciate the recaps at least every once in a while. It helps me see things I wouldn't normally pick out on my own. Thanks for the content, and keep it up. Looking forward to more Granblue from you when Rise Drops.
Not really. He was just a far better player. If he played a higher tier character he would have done even better. I think the balance should be like that in an ideal fighting game but its just not. Objectively other characters do what she can but way better with damage sticking around longer, bigger hitbox attacks, more utility. He probably would have won the tourney if he went Leo or May and made them his main. When you're playing for money all that matters is the best, reliable path to get the win. Stubbornly sticking to characters because they look cool or you like them is for when you play it as a hobby. He handicapped himself.
@@thepunisherxxx6804 I will not disagree with you. A smart player plays strong characters. Especially for money. However i do believe gobou is a stronger player, it’s not character . Getting into top 8 at evo japan makes you a god imo. Daru plays for the love of ino. Nothing more.
@@pktreturns4912 I hear you and I love how Daru plays, but like we both said if I was Daru I'd want that prize money, and the attention you get from winning. That translates to more viewers online for his streams too. Maybe Daru is rich and it doesn't matter but if he's not I think it was a mistake to stick with I-No stubbornly like that in a tourney.
Not at all. He simply was a way better player than the happy chaos. Individual performances and matchups don't represent overall balance. Her kit is weak and done better by so many others with bigger hitboxes, moves staying out longer. I don't think the game is balanced well. You shouldn't be able to get 50% damage, knock them through the wall, PLUS a positive bonus, plus the potential for another wall trap. Happy Chaos has too much tools and utility and its all super good and super duper easy to land (gun, ball, rolls, running shots). Almost half the roster is crap or meh. That isn't good balance.
Yeah its alright if other I-No players waver in their faith. Daru as a player is so phenomenal that not only can he thread the match up so well but capitalize in opportunities when pushes for his openings. A character specialist of the highest caliber is what it truly takes to push I-No against some of the best in the big stage of EVO GG Strive.
I can not imagine how much testing daru had to do to win these matches. The man is absolutely legendary for winning these, but I guess I would argue that he might have burned himself out on fighting chaos players.
dope vid - great to see an in-depth look (interaction-by-interaction) on how one of the greats overcame a rough MU twice in a row on the big stage, analyzed by one of the premier (former 😭) I-No's himself! would love to see more Tournament Footage analysis, really concise way of picking up a bit more game knowledge as a viewer!
I totally agree with daru about preferring fighting chaos over sol. Characters with dp’s are just a fucking nightmare for me these days. Not doing well in neutral is fine, but if a character has 50 tension and a dp it’s literally a get out of jail free card.
I wish Uni got remastered or something, but hearing the soundtrack makes me wanna play this game. Too bad i can basicly only play it local since the game doesnt support rollback.
I still think Daru's skill contributed way more to this matchup than anything else. Even knowing how good chemical love is to counter HC's reload, I would still be playing the blocking game in this matchup. He's too good

I really don't like how they've been balancing this game. They'll cripple characters and then hand them a crutch, or give them a pain killer and break their legs (in I-No's case). It makes me feel like they don't have a good handle on the new systems, characters, gimmicks, etc. Really glad Daru is able to persevere and even shine with his character; most people I know dropped this game after trying to play their mains from previous GGs.
