What I really enjoy is how canon this Warband feels, has a nice unique gimmick and history, as well as some cool relics that aren’t too overpowered. I think stuff like the Megatherion or the Maw are really essential for building an intriguing Warband. Every Warband and Chapter needs their own sort of “thing” that sets them apart, even if it’s a small concept.
As someone who is admittedly more quantity over quality regarding their works watching this really gave me perspective regarding what works regarding high quality homebrew and how I could improve my next projects.
Now I'm imagining a war-band nearly annihilated or formed from remnants of other war-bands after the early assaults from the penitent crusade of the cursed 21st. The thing I really like about his combat doctrine is that I could kinda see the flaw coming while he was talking about it's strengths.
So... I play Iron Warriors and World Eaters. The new codex detachment renegade raiders is so Iron Butchers. 2 rhinos full of 10 Berzerkers each supported by Lord with 10 Chosen. Warpsmith castle with Predator, Vindicator, Forgefiend and helbrute. And some havocs to shoot the rest. The dream
You know, the mention of the iron butchers taking contracts from corrupt imperials on occasion made me consider something. What if there was a warband of traitors who had a special relationship with a certain imperial group. As in, they took contracts almost exclusively from a more unorthodox member of the inquisition, or powerful planetary lord. The traitors would be in it for the money, and the patron imperials may use the warband for an extra set of guns, or what have you. I just find the idea of some sketchy inquisitor having traitors on his pay roll extremely cool
Man this really helped me flash out my homebrew, stuff i didnt even think about, im pretty much brand new and working on a group of former nightlords who decended into worship of both slaanesh and khorn

I am enamored with the artwork. It's so mechanical and dieselpunky, inkeeping with (certain) imperial aesthetics, but also melded with the insane power of khorne. I love that one of the Megatherion facing down what I believe to be a nurgle-corrupted chaos knight.
Seeing this and your other on how to homebrew has made me want to start working on mine again. Need to figure out how it all will work because I really like all imperial groups and chaos, beyond that I like models from some of the other groups. Though my favorite groups have always been Rouge Traders and the Inquisition

Actually, this was also my Idea for my homebrew warband named the Engines of Blood. Not unique from my perspective but it is somewhat similar with the Iron Butchers, with the execption that the Engines of Blood nearly worship Khorne, and unlike the Iron Butcher, the Engines of Blood believe daemon possession is seen as a divine work of Khorne, though Khorne did not even give most of them daemon possession.
First real homebrew video I’ve checked out and got to say this fan made warband is not only believable but dang cool. I lean towards the IW when it comes to a traitor legion mainly because they tend to be more themselves rather than slaves to chaos choosing to utilize chaos/warp as a tool rather than being a tool like the word bearers but the 12th is a close 2nd just wish we could have more personality than mindless berserkers that seem to never be able to form even a sentence which makes it hard to get novels about them. Makes me want to check out the newest world eaters novel though
I've only been into WH40k for maybe a year and I'm literally in the middle of writing up my first successor chapter of the Marines Errant (founded by the Astral Claws/Red Corsairs) right now, and this is some Awesome inspiration!
I do like the shard idea, in that it has a very real, physical link between the main characters and the ship. That link may help explain some of how they are able to keep the separate pieces working together?

I'm working on iron warriors homebrew that are obsessed with preserving the genetic lineage of the iron warriors and have gone down the routes of gene seed experimentation, also resulting in them producing chimerics out of the corrupted portions of their own stock and mixing it with loyalist geneseed to attempt to produce different halfbreed castes of astartes that might be suited towards different roles physically or psychologically. As well as trying to establish a permanent empire. experimentations with dark age of technology mind machine interfacing nanites infected with the obliterator virus to mass produce tech thralls infused with daemonic illness and technology from the dark age, engineering their own artificial disease to produce superior tech thralls for less logistical advancement of resources that allows them to mass convert any humans they capture into efficient obedient labourers. Taking joy in converting imperial citizens and locking them inside of their bodies still consciously as their beings are slowly changed from flesh to metal as they tear down the bastions of their god emperors world and dig the trenches for the iron warriors to besiege their fellows from, dragging the imperium through the mud as it dragged them through the mud and removing even the choice of futile resistance just slow apathetic yet cruelly pragmatic torture. Using Tech Thralls as the backbone of the legion over cultists, any human operators within the lost and the damned attached to the iron warriors as auxiliaries much more elite for chaos and renegade forces and more highly invested in than typical chaos cultists logistically. This video has given me a lot of ideas for my own homebrew, I gotta find a good way to generate a captivating plot hook, I think you should do more of these episodes.
I agree on the Argel Tal type of characters Idea. I have been working fro some time now on my own homebrew chapter for some years and recently had to completely rework them. Mainly because GW stole my name XD (The warband was called the Eightbound). So since I had to remake the name of the warband I decided to rework it as a whole. However the main concept that remained the same is that the warband is heavily inspired and groomed by the Word Bearers. It is a mix of splinters from lesser known warbands (Invocators and Brothers of Livos) Who barely have any lore on them, but all align two points. One is they are undivided and they are obssesed about summoning demons/possesion. Because possesion is the main stick of this warband. They are obsessed with bringing forth Lorgars vision of evolution. The Perfect union of demon and mortal. With a disdain for sloppy mass possesion on their troops like other warbands and legions do, where the demon simply takes over. Possesion in this group is a sacred and meticulous process that requires a lot of preparation. So yeah I am working on expanding on that.

Very nice homebrew, my impression of it is that this is a mainly iron warriors traitor chapter with khorne undertone. Because is clearly be the doutrine, modus operandi or other point the beserk close range combat seen to be a addendum to normal iron warrior warband demon engines, heavy use of artillery and the beserk only unleashed in hope they might finish them off they don't seen to really play any part of the strategic sense of the chapter. That is even more apparent in how the new chaptermaster seen to orchestrate the fall of the previous leader rather than a more direct confrontation that you would expect from a khorn leader. I expected that at least their demon engines would be mainly close quarter, but that doesn't seen to be the case. As such make one wonder if the beserkers of khorne are into that because they are being effictely lead to great rivers of blood rather than the fact that their leader embodied the best of both worlds. At same time there must be a lot of problem in keeping the beserkers at bay, because even the very first step of "let soft then up" with artillery is not something that can be done quickly unless they have some sort of specialized doutrine of fast deploying artillery. I also enjoy they embraced the internal division inside it and difficult to fuse to very different philosophy of war. However, I feel that if they had been more developed in how they struggle to keep it going or how they try to minimize the inside conflict or at least use it somehow to enchance other aspect of their doutrine, like if they beserker get too crazy to wait and start to killing each other they have runes that draw that blood to the demon engines so they fire faster or something.

It is possible to do with examples like malice or Hashut or the great horned rat from fantasy, the problem lies in power. There is a reason that those who worship minor gods don’t get much spotlight, and many chaos followers wouldn’t follow a warband that doesn’t hold to the same god. Likewise those who worship chaos undivided tend to join larger and stronger groups.

Been into warhammer lore for years now, but putting a story to the army Im building drives me more than making a useable army list. So I’ll have to check out the resources you got, because I feel like I have a sorta uphill battle against cliché tropes and overcooking since my idea is a mesoamerican themed aesthetic alpha legion with various chaos allegiances, but mainly tzeentch.

Though in their case due to inquisitoral fuckery a few thousand years ago they have no idea wich geneseed comes from where and at this point they're unwilling to separate the two due to cultural reasons.
Is that the complete Homebrew? The structure presented? I’m interested in working an idea for one and just don’t know where to start or how best to put it together for review

I have a question. Would the iron warriors within the warband answer the call of Peter Turbo? If so, would they take the world eaters with them?
