  • A new year's a time for goals and dreams. A time to make things happen. A time to roll with life's setbacks and turn things around.
Broadway veteran Rory O'Malley (The Book of Mormon) did that in spades in 2016. The year started with him landing a lead role as Bill Gates in a musical, Nerds, that was supposed to make its Broadway debut in the spring. But just as the cast had finished learning the production, an investor pulled the plug.
How's this for a turnaround? With his schedule suddenly cleared, O'Malley ended up landing the role of King George III in the smash hit Hamilton, which had just become a cultural force.

I have seen a glimpse of him playing KG and despite loving Groff I loved Rory's interpretation as well.

Very cool to have Rory’s insights here, I was fortunate enough to see Hamilton for the first time in late May 2016, original cast all but for King George. So Mr O’Malley is George III for me, before Jonathan Groff and the rest. He was one of three performers who came out the stage door afterwards too, very kind man to his fans.

He would be wonderful, not sure what his vocal range is though.

🤔 your comment is lame and uncalled for. There is a lot of truth to what he is saying and is the motivation behind Lin's creation of a show where people of color play white historical figures

@@snc0023 yeh , they give them the chance to play roles they don’t deserve just because they cry a lot and play the victim. Losers haha

There's some truth to it man, me and my friends all love music theatre but recognize all of us can be casted as Mormons, etc. I love King George's musical numbers, I think I have the vocal range for it, but my skin is far from white, I'd have to be casted for my vocal range and have makeup done for me to believably have a king's complexion, but my friends definitely can't play the role,
