@mermaidaquatatutorialsilic3679 Ah I understand! What is the word in French for the material? I'm sure I can take that and search.
Also, I wanted to ask about the way the fin is layered with polycarbonate. Here, the design is given the ridged "bone" structure, then two polycarbonate plates are cute to reinforce and provide kicking strength. What confuses, though, is the process of connecting the reinforced caudal fin to the extension with the P.E. plates. Would you just put the PE plates over the reinforced fan-shapes on the fin, or would you put these over the PE plates? Or, do these things even connect in this design?
I've managed to parse out most of this process through sketching and writing, but I feel like if the PE plates go over the polycarbonate, that's going to leave space between the PE plate and the original Lexan plate.
...unless the idea is to have three sheets of polycarbonate sandwiched between the two PE plates?
I'm sorry for excessive questions, I've been looking at doing this for a decade, and with your tutorial it's now possible! I want to make sure I do it right.
@@Gan596 Yes, PE stands for Polyethylene (Polyéthylène in french), we share the same abbreviation for this material. 😊
For your other question, it is indeed confusing now that you point it out.
Looks like the part with PE on a longfish monofin (3:20), and the part with extra polycarbonate on a regular monofin (8:25), are 2 separate tutorials.
I think these are different ways to make the monofin, but I might be wrong.
