MKLeo joker was the part of the first set of competitive smash that I've ever watched, which was smash con 2019 grands. It is truly a work of art
Yeah it was Tweek vs Leo at EVO that got me playing smash to begin with tbh. So glad his Joker has returned

Leo's Joker is the final boss while his other characters are just mid-bosses, straight up. I'm starting to believe the whole "sandbagging" ordeal
I get why someone would sandbag in certain situations, but MKLeo played his mid-bosses during extremely important sets. I also think he might be uncomfortable with Joker online. Why would he sandbag on purpose? 🤔 I'm really curious because if Nairo is right, his Joker would get him a guaranteed first place each time. Maybe he doesn't want people to adapt to it or something? 🤔
It's lonely at the top. You have to find ways to reinvent the game to keep it interesting, like playing with mid-tiers.
@@SquallNN Leo does have a problem with Joker online. Some of the set ups like fast fall up air to upsmash are stricter than shieks. Online can ruin it because of the lag. Leo is probably just bored of playing Joker or wants a challenge.
I don't think Leo is actually sandbagging. I believe he mentioned in the past that he just wanted to keep the game fun and try new characters. I sincerely think he brought back the Joker just because of his hate towards Min Min. He placed 2nd after losing to Proto's Min MIn and probably thought " Damn I was close. I'll get it next time wth Aegis or ROB" GG Proto!"
Then his next tournament comes around and guess what, It's ANOTHER Finals against Min Min. He tried again with Aegis for a few rounds and either kept barely winning or barely losing. After one of the loses, I feel like he just said "I'm not losing again." and slams the Joker.
@@Zx30 Min Min might've made the process faster, but Leo was absolutely planning to bring back the Joker for a while. He's said in his streams before that Joker was too good of a character to drop completely. He's been seriously practicing Joker ever since the slingshot became a thing. So I'm sure it would've come out eventually.
Leo was really like to Dabuz "Ight bet"
Leo has just genuinely enjoyed playing other characters more than Joker, similar to how Spargo went back to playing Cloud before he took a break. This has indirectly nerfed him but not on purpose.
I think it helped him get a better understanding of the mechanics, physics, and every other individual character. That and the fact that joker is a taxing character to use; it is mentally tiring and in multi-event tournaments they spend up to 3 days playing almost non-stop.
I’m curious to see if Sparg0 can do something similar if he goes back to Aegis but I kinda don’t see that happening. I think peak Sparg0 is playing Cloud because he just understands the character so well
@@wollins7244 Last time we saw his Aegis was vs Zomba at LTC, and he beat him so badly. Makes me wonder why he went Cloud and almost lost their set at Genesis when he could've done that.
Honestly, On Sparg0 situation You can argue that It only made his results better by going back to maining Cloud because He never won any Majors when he was maining Aegis! But, The first 3 tourneys he mains Cloud (Summit 4, G4, Collision) He wins!

@@druizcardenas312 That's just because of the MU, Most ROB Players says that Cloud Vs ROB is even whereas Almost all ROB Players (Zomba, Zackray) says that Aegis is arguably the worst MU for ROB
Zomba has been 3-0d by 3 different Aegis Players (Cosmos, Sparg0, Shuton)
Zomba Twitter is just a Hatefest about Aegis ever since SWT and Glitch Infinite when He lost to Cosmos

MKLeo with JOKER = GOD
The year is 2032. With Sakurai out of the business, no other Smash chapters have been released. MkLeo's mains are Steve and Kazuya. There's not a single Ultimate tournament he hasn't won in the last decade. Finally, everybody leaves the scene out of despair and he's crowned, alone, the greatest of all time.
Leo has a Kazuya and he likes playing him. He might bring him to tourneys in the future for fun

A perfect expample of how disciplined and calm leo can be in the most highstress situations is his set agaisnt tweek in evo everyone knows this set so i dont have to say much but the final upsmash kill on charizard is literally PEAK example of how mkleos joker has been fine tuned down to every frame he can make

I remember when I was learning joker and trying to figure out how he gets so many fair 1s I just realized that his read we just on another level. Catch spotdodges and rolls like it was second nature.

Yeah, not only is he mechanically good, his bread and butter is reads and lack of habits. Mkleo is always adapting even when under pressure, while most rely on their old habits when they’re pressured.
Leo has habits he just hides them under riddles of seemingly optimal play. Even top players mash lol
Yeah I was so happy when Gluto finally beat him at Pound, but in the back of mind I'm still thinking "they're still not playing in the same category".
Essentially, Joker is his comeback mechanic. In a good way.
MKLeo's Joker is unreal. It is far stronger in reality then any story you might have heard about him.

idk, i was thinking hes more like ken lol: hes not exactly a secret final boss, and hes been ruling the scene with an iron fist for years now, with no sign of slowing down anywhere in sight. isai has no smash ultimate equivalent (yet) because if there ever was someone who had the potential to be that, mkleo crushed him already lol.
It is a shame that Acola cannot go to Smash Con, I wanted to see his Joker vs that Steve, but now hopefully Leo wins the tournament

Acola is nothing special just a player who takes advantage of a character that is broken and plays its own version of smash. Score he picked up Steve he was a Luigi main who didn’t get results.

dabuz's minmin, specifically. i doubt we'll ever see him go joker on proto's minmin given how much experience the man has against jokers.

Was that actually his peak though? I can't remember the dates but all I know was that there was a learning period for Leo before his Joker became fully optimized. If I'm being honest, at least from the matches we've seen him use Joker recently. He looks better now with Joker than anything if you consider how much the meta has progressed.
@@Jswnwich You can really see that difference in the movement when you compare him at Frostbite vs against Dabuz or in some of the offline friendlies with Joker in the last month-ish. Maybe his Joker was further ahead of the field in 2019 in relative terms (though it's hard to make a claim either way because he's using it so infrequently) but in absolute terms his movement looks so much better

with the sandbagging situation, I wouldn't want it to be true, cuz mfs are still losing to him in that theoretical state. That would hurt so much more if I was (as a top player) losing to someone who is only trying at 60-70% or using a worse character for the sake of making the game more even. Feels fucked up.
To be fair he plays other characters simply because he enjoys playing them, not to hold back

Tweek talked about. He said Leo admitted that he feels bored sometimes, and so he tries out different characters. Tweek said it was such a blow to his ego. So his motivation is to play well enough to get Leo not to be bored.

I don’t think it’s sandbagging I think Leo enjoys other characters more, I for example main lucina but I enjoy incineroar a lot more lol idk why i just have more fun with him and play him a lot more often

Tbh Leo just plays Byleth for a challenge & he goes Joker in match ups where the player is too good or character is too fast for Byleth
Leo's Joker bodied Dabuz, who Leo bodies all the time anyway. That's really all that's happened other than a pretty meaningless crew battle appearance. I don't think that really says a whole lot on how well his Joker would do in SmashCon if he decides to bring it out.

It started off as a meme but it’s seriously annoying af and discredits his win at double down
can you blame them after that dabuz game tho? Dabuz (though not as good as proto) is still a top 5 Min Min, and he almost got 3 stocked by Mk Leo's Joker before Arsene even came out
@@verbage432 dabuz is realistically the 2nd best min min, unless you have anyone else in mind? Though there is a pretty sizable gap between Dabuz and Proto's min min
I don't think Leo sandbagged per say... I definitely think he gave it his all with all the character's he had besides Joker; however if he went joker Leo probably wins double down. I think Leo just wanted to save it for smash factor though is all since he has a personal connection to that tournament
Anyone who thinks he's sandbagging is coping. He's definitely the best player in the world and his joker is cracked. But joker requires a lot of mental energy and he may not always feel confident enough in it at a particular moment to take down another really good player
@@thecapitalisticdictator2256 Pink Fresh is the only other MinMin that comes to mind. He has better timing on two frames but Dabuz and Proto have far better neutral.
