I had to peel 10 pounds of potatoes last week for our thanksgiving dinner and for those 30+ minutes I felt like a real life hoof trimmer. I carefully investigated the bruised areas and only trimmed what was necessary and then I carefully dug out any rotten spots as if they were a sole ulcer. Needless to say my wife thinks I’m 100% insane.

the fact we can all appreciate the fact that for a part of the video there is no music, no sound, and nothing but the knife cutting away at the hoof. and not a single person is complaining. it shows it's not about the videos or even us but the cows and we are just along for the ride. we just love it.

To Ashley (Mrs GP). Those people who are gossiping, forget them. Smile and show them you don’t care. And wear that big smile to show them how happy you are, and they can’t bring you down. You know they are jealous. I. Susan and I live in Virginia, USA. If you ever come to the east coast of the USA, I have three empty bedrooms , and I would be honored to have you as house guest. My dog once stepped on a piece of tape while I was wrapping presents, and he nearly shook his leg out of socket trying to remove the stuff. I grew up on a farm during the 40s thru the 60s, and the barn was to me a magical place. I was probably in middle school when my dad woke all of us up in the wee hours of the morning. He told us to put on some clothes that could get dirty and high-tail it to the barn. One of the cows was having a terrible time giving birth. My dad had tied a rope around the calf’s front feet, and my grandpa, mother, older sister, younger brother, and I were able to pull that calf out! We were all surprised that both the mother and her calf survived. We spent many happy summer hours petting the kittens in the barn.

or would you rather they live healthy free-range lives, with all the room and food they could ever need? you should be grateful that these farmers exist to give them a better life than the ones that are kept inside buildings next to each other all day, every day, until they are killed, just to save room. if these animals are going to be raised for food anyways, they at the very least deserve to have a good life before then.

I enjoyed this video very much. Commentary when needed, and then just trimming sounds. No annoying music. Please do more of these.

I live in a large US city. Never any farm or cow contact. But couldn’t stop watching you treat that cow’s infected hoof!!😮❤

I've been watching your videos for over a year now, and I know the work you'll put here with this cow will be magnific. There's a question now in my head though, how can farmers prevent these incidents from happening with their cows? They always happen to have really terrible bruises or horn malformations after a while.

Watching you trim these hooves reminds me of peeling a potato; it looks fine on the outside but, as you start to peel away, all sorts of black spots start to show themselves. I don't know why but, I really enjoy watching you do this work. Thanks.

I really enjoyed this video. I like the videos where you don't play music over everything and we can quietly enjoy the details of the trim. very nice!

I will never own a cow, or even likely a sheep, goat or pig, llama etc, any hooved animal, yet I am fascinated with watching cows hooves get trimmed and sheep get sheered. I’ve sheered a sheep a big Hampton, actually kind of fun. I have learned more in these RUclips videos than I did when I was taking agriscience classes.

Over the last few weeks I have been going about my farm chores with a large painful bump on the ball of my foot. Every step was very painful. No change in the way I walked could alter how bad it hurt. I was watching this late this evening thinking “wouldn’t it be nice if someone could cut off the bump and glue a rubber pad to my heel to take the weight off this part of MY hoof! The cows are lucky to have you…I just have to keep on keeping on until it goes away!

I getcha when it comes to the beauty of a good trim. The mundane stuff of keeping a good balance on most cows is fine and dandy, and keeps everyone happy, but it is _especially_ sweet to find a problem that trimming away will do so much more good for everyone involved to get it settled.

    Related, but not related.
I had a piece of safety glass embedded in my foot for about 8 months, so I can somewhat comprehend exactly what Graeme was talking about.
    It wasn't a shard; it was a chunk ... about 8mm x 6mm, and about 3mm thick.
Poor girl ... I'm glad that the boys could help her 🖤
