- Join me as I take a look at Weymouth during its busiest month. Sun, Sea & Sand for the masses!
Weymouth is a vibrant coastal town located in Dorset, England, on the English Channel coast.
1. History: Weymouth has a rich history dating back to Roman times when it was a significant port. The town's sheltered bay made it an ideal location for maritime activities. Over the centuries, it developed as a fishing and trading port, and its history is reflected in the architecture and layout of the town.
2. Geography: Weymouth is situated on the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its geological significance and stunning cliffs. The town is also at the heart of the Jurassic Coastline, making it a great base for exploring this unique natural heritage.
3. Beaches: Weymouth boasts some of the best sandy beaches in England. The main beach, Weymouth Beach, stretches for several miles and is perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and family activities. The shallow waters make it a safe spot for children.
4. Esplanade: The town's esplanade runs alongside the beach and is lined with shops, cafes, restaurants, and attractions. It's a popular place for a leisurely stroll, offering great views of the sea and passing ships.
5. Attractions: Weymouth has a variety of attractions to explore, including:
Nothe Fort: A Victorian-era coastal fort with exhibits and gardens, offering panoramic views of the bay.
SEA LIFE Weymouth: An aquarium featuring marine life from local waters and around the world.
Sandworld: An impressive sand sculpture park showcasing intricate sand sculptures by artists from around the globe.
Weymouth Pavilion: An entertainment venue hosting concerts, shows, and events.
Weymouth Harbour: A picturesque working harbor filled with fishing boats, yachts, and pleasure craft.
6. Events: Weymouth hosts various events throughout the year, including the Weymouth Carnival, the Dorset Seafood Festival, and various maritime events. These events add to the town's lively atmosphere.
7. Maritime Heritage: Given its maritime history, Weymouth has connections to famous historical figures like George III, who made the town a popular seaside resort during his reign. The town also played a role during World War II as a departure point for the D-Day landings.
8. Nearby Attractions: In addition to the town itself, Weymouth serves as a gateway to explore the surrounding areas, including the Isle of Portland with its iconic lighthouse, Chesil Beach, and the beautiful Dorset countryside.
Overall, Weymouth is a charming and picturesque town that offers a mix of history, natural beauty, and recreational opportunities for visitors and residents alike.

A quick Update for Summer 2024... Parking has gone up substantially in Weymouth, so be prepared to dig deep if you're staying all day. Rossi's still has the cheapest and BEST ice cream through!

Great to see around Weymouth, blimey it's been a good number of years since i've visited there. Lovely to see the beaches full and busy! Great to watch the walk about too! Appreciate your narration and seeing the sights in Weymouth. Ooo, a natural flavour ice cream, curious! Let us know what it's like if you get one! Prices aren't too bad along the boardwalk to be fair, great to see a seaside town doing what it does best... giving a great British summer to families :) A great video Explorizm, thanks for sharing!
Thank you very much. I did have one and it taste nice but can’t describe the flavour… it’s not vanilla though haha

Weymouth/Dorset is my favourite place on 🌍 would ❤ to live there one day. Still so much to explore and see and do. Been watching Dorset country on channel 5 recently still lots to visit. Been going every year on hold for possibly 13 years now and the odd day trip now and again. Went on hols there this year and best part was sitting on Durdle door beach at Lukworth cove. So relaxing as life was so stressful then so just sat there taking in and filming the waves. Live go go back soon as my mental health and life in general is so stressful and not good st the minute. Keep up the great videos your a great RUclipsr with so many great videos/vlogs. Stay safe and everyone else watching 😊
Hi Matthew, thanks for the comment. Yeah that’s a good program, still loads for me to see too! Durdle door and the cove are amazing, the water is so clear! Thank you for the kind words and I’ll see you on the next video! Take care 👍😀
I remember Weymouth alot. Its a really nice place. Usually went tbere on the trsin though.
Im glad its doing good, unlike many other seaside town.
We go every year - I agree with everything you say! Look at the colour of the water, it's beautiful. There's every type of beach too - fine sand, sand/shingle, pebble! Re Brewers Quay, they're now converting the whole area to apartments with I believe shopping/bistros etc. The front is listed and it's been left for quite a few years like this now, a bit neglected so we're glad it's being developed now. Lovely video, thank you.
I love weymouth my grandparents always took us to the haven holiday park not to far away from the beach great times and memory's .
Weymouth is very nice on a sunny day when there is no wind otherwise my God it can be very unpredictable,,loved your video
Thanks Barrie! Yeah it can be super windy that for sure. That super fine sand gets everywhere too!
Hi you watched the same programme as we did very impressive ,
Ladt time i was in weymouth was to see HAWKWIND at THE PAVILLION 2018 ♡
10:20 Different baits for different places. Bacon works at Canoe Lake in Pompey but is useless on Poole Quay. I guess you have to try different baits and swee what the 'local' crabs have gotten used to :-)
My kids are crabbing specialists 🤣 the best bait locally is 1million percent mackerel, bacon will also work along with any other bits n pieces but when they were young and we went crabbing alot, the mackerell head and guts outfishes any other bait by a country mile 👍
I live in Weymouth and I don't thing many people would agree that it's affordable. Lots of complaints about parking fees and the trouble with high rates driving shops out of town.
Compared to Bournemouth I’d say it’s affordable. Of course that’s open to different interpretations dependant on the person. Weymouth has a lot to offer, probably the most in Dorset for a typical family.
Hi Explorizm. Q. will you be posting on-line the Bournemouth Air Show. ?
I’m unsure at the moment. I may make a little video 👍😀
I hope so. 👍 My cousins in Bournemouth said it might be the final display as it costs the Bournemouth Council to much.
Great video mate down by Weymouth Pavilion there’s a wall with graffiti done by American soldiers waiting to board there ships home after the 2nd World War worth a view sometime
Nice one mate! I’ll look out for that next time!
Can’t believe you went on the “Umbrella Ride” 🤢🤮 & yet you won’t go on the big wheel in Bournemouth!!
Haha! The thing is that big wheel is terrifying, I’ve been on it twice. It’s the slowness and the height.
Parkingg is not reasonable , it's exxtortionatee.
Oh dear! What a downbeat drab place typical of many an out of date British seaside resort. Offers what?……Punch & Judy, fun fairs and candy floss. How sad.
But everything you described is what makes the “British Seaside” 😀
@@explorizmtv and that is why they are in such a state of decline.
Offers one of the best beaches in the British Isles which is brilliant for kids . Shops in abundance , a fantastic working harbour with great pubs, restaurants, live music on the quayside plus pleasure cruises. If you want a bit of history you can visit Nothe Fort with its beautiful gardens... Generally there is nearly always something going on in Weymouth every week so not sure about your idea about Weymouth not offering anything ???.
