I saw my first ever meteorite. Here in Dorset last month it was amazing. I cant believe. How clear thr nights skies are here and how many stars you can. See im blessed to be living here love it
Stunning work, some of the best skies in Europe without doubt. Grew up on the Somerset/Dorset border and I remember the dark skies like those shown in this video, oh how I wish the whole of the U.K was privileged enough to have skies as beautiful as these.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video. I did a short interview with Steve on the drive time show, about 1hr 25min in. You can find it on iPlayer if you want to find out a bit more about the project.
Thanks for your kind words. That shot was created by stacking each exposure on top of the other one, using Photoshop and a lighten layer mode. Long process and I believe there's a few automated processes out there to achieve the same effect.
Thank you Frances. It took about 4 months of shooting whenever the night skies were clear. We haven't had the best of summers here, so it's been harder than I expected to meet the August 11th deadline. Please share it with your friends and family and make them fell homesick/envious :)
Thank you Emma. I have followed you on Twitter and Pinterest with my personal account. Look forward to hearing more from you. Glad you enjoyed the video. Plenty more to come in the future. Got a remake of 'Bridport by Night' in the pipelines. You can find the first one on RUclips, on my personal account.
Glad you enjoyed the film. Please share it with your friends and family to help boost Dorset as a stargazing venue! Sounds good to me - whereabouts are you in the county?
Thank you for your kind words. Yes, it's peaking at the moment, and the ISS is making some very bright passes in the evenings. Unfortunately I've been too busy to capture any of it. Maybe tonight...
That's some good work there! I've just started doing a lot of star time lapse stuff myself but one question. How do you time lapse into star trails (2,23) cuz that is cool as!!! Thanks
Thanks. I use a free program called startrails to stack my time lapse footage to get the trails. I use NX2, Lightroom and movie maker but unfortunately these can't do this "lighten layer mode". I can't justify the cost of photoshop. If you have heard of any other programs that might do it that would be great. When ever I search for something similar it always comes up with photoshop or just simple contrast adjustment programs. It's just such a cool feature I'd love to add it to my films. Cheers
This is a labour of love, superb filming and effects.
That gave me chills, made me feel small, made me feel infinite, and made me think. Thank you!

Beautiful piece of footage Stephen - particularly loved the lighthouse and shooting stars!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. It was done on a Mac using Adobe Lightroom, iStopMotion HD and Final Cut Pro 7 and X.
It was Sculpture by the Lakes. Simon Gudgeon was fantastically accommodating for me to come down and do a night shoot. Beautiful location!
Thanks for featuring the video on your page. It has become my first source for time lapse inspiration!
Absolutely brilliant, I love the beauty of Dorset and this is very special. Found your site via a plug on BBC Radio Solent just now.
Very great stuff! Videos like this are what inspires me to go out and keep trying to improve my night time-lapse.
Thank you, it stemmed from my first video, Bridport by Night. Can't post the link here for some reason, but search and you'll find it straight away.
