Perfecting your stacked long exposures

In the previous tutorial - ruclips.net/video/P5sgBcG8w-o/видео.html - I showed you how to use a Photoshop action to stack all your exposures together into one long exposure. In this tutorial, I show you how you can go about removing those tedious bright spots and aeroplane light trails using the clone stamp tool in Photoshop. How to create one time lapse exposure using Photoshop stacking
Просмотров 8 тыс.12 лет назад
In this tutorial, I show you how to combine all your individual exposures of the night sky into one single long exposure image. First of all, download the Adobe Photoshop action: theamusing.com/photography/howto/StarCircleAcademyStacking.atn Then, follow this tutorial. Alternatively, you can keep the shutter open for hours at a time. But in a lot of cases, areas of high light will be completely...
Stunning work, some of the best skies in Europe without doubt. Grew up on the Somerset/Dorset border and I remember the dark skies like those shown in this video, oh how I wish the whole of the U.K was privileged enough to have skies as beautiful as these.
At 1.18 what is the little light in the left hand corner that comes in stops dead then shoots back again?? UFO ? Lovely video :)
Watch CAREFULLY, use COMMON SENSE and then tell me we live on a spinning ball ! ( We do NOT ! )
What a literally brilliant video!
Is there any chance to get that song in good quality? (I really would pay for it)
Still hoping ...
Great video. The time it must have taken is enough but the quality is amazing! The ideas... The time lol. Very nice!
is there anyway i can do this in gimp ?
star circle academy stacker option??? not finding it as an option in the drop down :( is this a plug in??
Hello.. amazing video.. can I ask what music this is please as wpuld love to download
Beautiful piece of footage Stephen - particularly loved the lighthouse and shooting stars!
We also so so many shooting stars too we have seen about 30 last month
I saw my first ever meteorite. Here in Dorset last month it was amazing. I cant believe. How clear thr nights skies are here and how many stars you can. See im blessed to be living here love it
Stunning stuff!
Absolutely stunning!
the action doesn't work anymore : / But everything else was great awesome video
So clever! It's fantastic! :D
This so extraordinarily brilliant!I'm really moved and impressed.
ahah, i live in bridport, what a coincidence :)
It was Sculpture by the Lakes. Simon Gudgeon was fantastically accommodating for me to come down and do a night shoot. Beautiful location!
where in dorset did you find those sculptures of the heads? great veiws of dorset by night
Thanks. I use a free program called startrails to stack my time lapse footage to get the trails. I use NX2, Lightroom and movie maker but unfortunately these can't do this "lighten layer mode". I can't justify the cost of photoshop. If you have heard of any other programs that might do it that would be great. When ever I search for something similar it always comes up with photoshop or just simple contrast adjustment programs. It's just such a cool feature I'd love to add it to my films. Cheers
Thanks for your kind words. That shot was created by stacking each exposure on top of the other one, using Photoshop and a lighten layer mode. Long process and I believe there's a few automated processes out there to achieve the same effect.
That's some good work there! I've just started doing a lot of star time lapse stuff myself but one question. How do you time lapse into star trails (2,23) cuz that is cool as!!! Thanks
That gave me chills, made me feel small, made me feel infinite, and made me think. Thank you!
Glad you found it useful Nigel. Be sure to let me know when you get the finished image :)
I am currently watching this video with all my images in a folder and I am thinking to myself, what fantastic, well explained with a very clear voice, and I am now in hope that my RAW images taken from 3 Jan this year might not be a waste of space after all. I can now see it taking shape and I might not have the full circle due to that fact that I only have a 18 to 55mm lens but I got it....Great video. Thanks.
Cheers, please feel free to share it around :)
Thank you, feel free to share it around :)
This is brilliant! You've captured some gem shots! Well done.
Love that first sculpture shot; "I AM THE GUARDIAN OF FOREVER" ;D
Exquisite. :D
Thank you Emma. I have followed you on Twitter and Pinterest with my personal account. Look forward to hearing more from you. Glad you enjoyed the video. Plenty more to come in the future. Got a remake of 'Bridport by Night' in the pipelines. You can find the first one on RUclips, on my personal account.
Love this video. I'm a local blogger and I'm featuring it on a weekly round-up tomorrow :)
Very great stuff! Videos like this are what inspires me to go out and keep trying to improve my night time-lapse.
Thanks for featuring the video on your page. It has become my first source for time lapse inspiration!
Thanks for subscribing. Lots more to come from this project...
I did hear your informative and inspiring interview with Steve! Subscribed.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video. I did a short interview with Steve on the drive time show, about 1hr 25min in. You can find it on iPlayer if you want to find out a bit more about the project.
Absolutely brilliant, I love the beauty of Dorset and this is very special. Found your site via a plug on BBC Radio Solent just now.
Thank you :)
Have you ever had an owl land on your camera at night ?
This is a labour of love, superb filming and effects.
That shot was on top of Eggardon Hill and was shot in May.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. It was done on a Mac using Adobe Lightroom, iStopMotion HD and Final Cut Pro 7 and X.
Really amazing and inspiring. Which PC program do you use?
Thank you Natalie. Keep at it and post your pictures/videos on the Facebook page
Thank you for your kind words. Be sure to share it with your friends and family :)
It certainly does! Thank you, be sure to share the video with your friends!
Thank you Frances. It took about 4 months of shooting whenever the night skies were clear. We haven't had the best of summers here, so it's been harder than I expected to meet the August 11th deadline. Please share it with your friends and family and make them fell homesick/envious :)
What a great film, it must of taken you a long time to do. The music works really well too. It's made me feel very homesick! Frances
