I have one of the original bowflex and I've always said it's just like resistance band training. It isn't the weights or the bands , it's the intensity and focus of body parts that make it . Whether it's power rods , free weights , or bands , you still gotta use them .
Great video, many thanks, but a quick question, I'm a veteran with an above knee amputation, I use a bike/spin bike for cardio and leg(s) but because I had a shoulder replacement 18 months ago my new consultant has told me catagorically no weights at all. I've gone cold turkey and he's ok'd resistance bands, should I be doing times sets or rep sets? And for how long/how many? Many thanks
I really like these videos. Awesome! Very complete and the way it explains the main muscles that work out. The only suggestion I would make is to sort the work outs by high attachment, chest level attachment, low attachment and no attachment. It's very time consuming to handle the attachments from one work out to another unless there's a reason the orders are listed that way.

my workout generally mimics those of powerlifter but I'm a big big supporter of resistance tubes. been using them 4 years for travels. your video is the most sorted training video! post for other body parts as well and maybe show all of them sorted and combined into a routine! big thumbs up :)
So if you haven't sorted them out by attach level can we at least conclude that low attachment targets the upper chest, the chest level the...chest and the upper targets the lower part ?

I haven't viewed the online video, so I cannot speak to the quality of that piece of the set. However, everything else is perfect for what I was looking for. The bands are durable, and the resistance strength varies enough between bands that they're each useful for different exercises and provide a great challenge as you gradually increase the resistance level for certain exercises. The only band I don't use very often is the lowest resistance band, but even that is nice for exercises that target weaker/seldom used muscle groups.

Hi Jeremy, Thanks for the view. It is not uncommon to feel chest exercises in the front of the shoulders. The anterior deltoid is used for the movement especially during upper chest exercises. You probably feel the exercise more in your left shoulder because you are right handed(right side dominate), and your left side is a little weaker than your right. Best, FG
When you start using bigger bands/more resistance you start pushing your body backwards instead of pushing the handles forward. Is there a technique to prevent this?
Hi MrWido You can try standing closer to where the band is attached so there is less tension(resistance) in the band. If that doesn't work you may need a band with less resistance/smaller band. Best FG

I have the band wrapped around a heating pipe. You can wrap them around anything smooth(so the band doesn't tear) and sturdy. There are also door attachments you can get to secure them in the frame of the door.

Hi, you're right my current routine is at the gym but if I where to workout at home, I would use resistance bands. I also take them with me when I travel for workouts. You can most definitely get a solid workout with only resistance bands.
No you can't..I am a user of resistance bands and I see that what I gain from resistance bands disappear when I miss my workout for 2-3 days..don't expect to get gains like you would if you had used weights.

Hi Kartik, Thanks for the view. If your biceps are hurting, you must be bending your elbow during the "fly" movements. Try keeping your elbows slightly bent and locked in that position throughout all "fly" movements. That should help put the resistance back into your chest and out of your biceps. Best, FG

Use heavier resistance bands and do the reps slower for 10 reps then continue for 5-10 faster shorter pumps. *With a heavy enough band you shouldn't even get to 15 reps. Also concentrate on the part of the chest you are working, I mean really squeeze the muscle. Connection with mind and muscle is super important.

Yes, women can differently to these workouts. Stick to high rep - low resistance (example 3 sets of 20-30 reps)

You can use a "heavier" resistance band. If you don't have a "heavier" band, you can use two bands at once, holding two handles in each hand.
