Just a heads up. I purchased this DVD 2 days ago, it is already here :) so excited. My father was the announcer, Joe Volkommers best friend. Spent many a weekend in the pressbox. Waiting to watch with my brother. Thanks for the SPEEDY service!
Hi Ray I made this film back in 1975 and is now on DVD you can order a copy of the entire movie on my website saugusspeedway75.com I hope this film will bring back some good memories,1975 was at the center of the Golden Age of short track racing at Saugus Speedway. I want to thank everyone for their support ,this was one of those labor of love projects that I knew had to be completed. All the Best, Ted Brilhante
The first time I went to Saugus Speedway was probably in 1968? Best I remember was when Oren Prosser drove the #15. He was my favorite. Jimmy Insolo also was there. But dont remember to many others. I had to have been 12 or 13? (notice all the question marks?). I would later in life again go to the races there probably in 1988-89 all the way until 1992. It was my home track. Remember when the Southwest tour came in probably 1990 (?) and you couldnt get a seat. Not only that but there was still people in line outside trying to get in. It was quite the event. Many a Saturday nights at that track. I would be interested in knowing whom is providing us this channel. Ray ? whom
It won't even be that soon. Property has been sold and they will be building sound stages (or so we're told... wouldn't surprise me to see high-density housing go up instead)
Wild Bill Foster, we watched him race while we grew up right down the street from where he lived.
My uncle, "Rapid" Ray Dilger used to race there. Many fun memories with family cheering him on.
Still miss Saugus 330's !!!
Such a great place to race. Loved the fans. Always packed the place in full every time.
I was there, a decade later, watching the races. Even if you weren't at the races, you could hear the Speedway booming through the valley.
